I had to book the hotel last minute because my friend and I arrived a day early, so venere.com was awesome! Everything was nice and the price was very reasonable, however the front desk staff...particularly a tall bitter bald guy was extremely rude...he was talking crap about us in Italian and making jokes and his little minion was giggling. Mind you we only stayed one night, but we got up early and wanted to roam around a little before checking out and the ass actually checked his watch and gave us a "look" ...a real nasty character. This has been a few years back so hopefully his ass has been fired or gone on to another hotel to terrorize other tourist...what a douche almost ruined Venice for us!

Quite pleased with our stay at Al'Angelo. The room although modest was not disappointing considering the area and the pricing. Very convenient to St. Marcs Plaza and a window overlooking a canal as well. The breakfast was quite enjoyable.

The hotel is great for the price. It was hard to find, however, but most things in that area are. It felt like a maze to this country girl. We 3 (daughter and sister) had a triple room which was a loft with a queen and downstairs a singe. Very adequate. Lovely view. It would not be a 4 star in the states but was fine. Staff very helpful and friendly (unlike hotel in Rome where we felt snubbed). Breakfast was fine, although way more "sweets" than we normally eat! Tours arranged if you want. We did gondola ride, a must in Venice!

I was sharing a standard double room and a friend of ours had a single room. Whilst the bedrooms were small, they were clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast, which was included, was really nice. The location is unbeatable, just off St. Mark's Square and I would consider staying there again.

Given that I booked the hotel two days before going to Venezia for the opening weekend of Carnevale, this was a good deal. The room was more than twice the price the following weekend. The hotel is very close to Piazza San Marco. The icon on the map isn't right where the hotel is, but it's easy to find if you pay attention to the street names on the map. It's literally just a couple of minutes walk to Piazza San Marco. Just go to the left of the basilica and take the last left before reaching the canal. The hotel is past the first intersection on the left . The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bridge is just beyond the hotel - the story behind the angel on the building opposite the angel is interesting if you take the trouble to look it up.

First time in Venice. The location of the hotel was great, since the san marco place was a few minutes of the property. But the hotel was not easy to find, as the map provided was not very useful. We were lucky as we got two large and spacious rooms in a family suite, for the price of a regular room. We appreciated to stay on the highest floor, overlooking a nice canal. We had a romantic postcard view from our windows. We would recommend this hotel.

All'Angelo, is of course old hotel but in my opinion is not renewed much enough i.e. despite the fact it is a protected one it could be done of more design and care.When a room is rated at EURO 280.- you expect more than this. We where just for leisure.

Stayed mid April 2007. Arrived at 14,00, and room was not ready for another hour. Finally checked in and found out that room rate was 150 Euro the first night (Friday) and 210 Euro the second night (Saturday, which averaged out to the 180 Euro quoted by Venere.com). Arrived in room to find out that the A/C was not working, mosquitos smashed on the windows, walls and mirrors, floor carpet staines worthy of a C.S.I. murder episode, constrution scaffolding at the window (i.e. impossible to leave windows open at night or suring the day for fear of theft), double bed (two small single beds set next to each other) was too short for me and to narrow for two people (I'm 5'11" and my wife is 5'8") . We went to reception to ask to get a new room, or pay difference for another room: their reply was that they "could" not turn on the A/C because of local laws (not true, as the next hotel we stayed had it on full blast), the bed size was standard in Italy (not true, we live there 6 months out of the year and had stayed in normal beds in other establishments) AND they did not have any other rooms available. We let them know that we would stay one night and leave the next day. They made us pay for both days without any discount. They have "sister" hotels near by but did not even try to accomodate us in any of them. We found a wonderful new hotel, a true 4 star by American standards, should be a 5 star by Italian standards, called A la Comedia, near the Rialto, and they charged us 210 Euro (same price for Saturday night). DO NOT STAY AT ALL'ANGELO, places like this are what can ruin a short vacation to Venice, and an expensive travel to Italy.

It was our first time to Venice, I have no complaints at all about the hotel, very nice, clean, good breakfast and we found the staff to be quite helpful. Our only problem was finding the hotel when we arrived, the website should have more accurate directions to the hotel, but we phoned the hotel and they gave us directions over the phone, once we found it the first time it was easy to find again and it was in a great location, close to everything. Would recommend this hotel and would go back to stay there again!!

Me and my wife stayed for just one night but it was a very pleasant experience. The hotel was an amazing deal when compared with price paid. It was rated as a 3 star but was very close to a 4 star under Venice conditions. The size of the room was surprizingly large and the location was right at the centre of venice. Highly recommended.

This hotel is ideally situated for a visit to Venice. Only 1 minute walk from St Marks Square and all other Venetian sights. Hotel is pricey, but this is major city. Dont eat in the hotel restaurant as food is absolutely disgusting. A lot of people were complaining about the quality. We are not fussy eaters, and have eaten all around the world (and some strange dishes too), but this hotel restaurant was absolutely awful! Be warned! the stay at All'angelo wasn't very welcoming. staff was not helpful. we came in with a double room instead of booking triple. we ended staying at a sister hotel outside the hotel. it was not nice at all. it was a apartment style hotel and room was way too large. staff wasn't very nice and internet access was not even working. i guess its better to find a better hotel with good price and staff somewhere else

Overall, we found this hotel to be well located in that it was just behind the Basilica but it was difficult to find. We actually had to call the hotel to get a description of where they were. Our room was very spacious as was the bathroom but renovations (which appear to be ongoing) meant that the overall appeal of the hotel was diminished somewhat. However, the breakfast was very good and most of the staff, friendly and helpful with the exception of 1 or 2 reception staff. We stayed in Venice, Florence and Rome and this was by far the most expensive of the 3* hotels we stayed in while not necessarily being the best. But - perhaps thats just Venice.

Our stay at All'Angelo was our honeymoon. We booked a standard room and enquired about the cost of a canal view room, as this was twice the price we decided to stick to the room we had. The hotel advised us that if they had a canal view available we would possibly be upgraded without charge. We were! Our room was looking straight out down the canal, we were able to watch the Venetian 'traffic' which while rather noisy was very entertaining. The room was very clean and the shower was fantastic, although avoid 'rush hour' if you want hot water. The breakfast room was nicely decorated and the food was of a good standard, we only had continental breakfast. We didn't eat in the hotel restaurant as we wanted to venture out. The reception staff were very helpful and informative. This was our first trip to Venice and we got the Venetian experience that we expected. We will definitely be returning to All'Angelo!

If you're going to stay in San Marco, this is an ideal hotel to base yourself in. We had room 210 which was very spacious and the balcony overlooked a busy street without being too noisy. I don't think the photos did the hotel enough justice and I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel's appearance. The buffet breakfast was also good, offering cereals, assorted fresh meats, cheese and the usual tea, coffee and orange juice.

Hotel is magnific, breakfast was more then needed. The conciergerie was snobby and stuffy but still accomodated our need for an extra cot.THe view from our room was SPECTACULAR. I will book again and again at this hotel. It wasn't hard to find especially because I asked at the Travel Info where it was located. Venice is such a magical city! Great for people with kids. The rooms were spacious and accomodating and elegant. I would reccomend the restaurant called BIRRARIA in Campo S.Polo and I would ask for reccomandations for a good place to eat after you made a purchase in a store.

Very nice hotel. It is one block behind San Marco. Its a little walk from the vaporetto but I thought for the location at San Marco and cost, it was a great find. The room was comfortable but a little small (double bed) but very nicely furnished. It was so convenient to San Marco that you can wait until late afternoon to visit San Marco Cathedral and the Doge's palace and miss the crowds. I would definitely stay here again.

The first night I had a terrible time trying to sleep as my room was across from a bar next door. When I asked for a different room they said they could not accomadate me. They evidently cater to the cursie industry and if you do not go to breakfast early you will not be able to get a table and if you get to breakfast too late they will be out of items.

I was vacationing throughout Italy with my friend and her younger daughter.We started in Rome to visit her older daughter who is studying at the University this semester.My original reservation at the All'Angelo was for a Triple room.Older daughter wished to accompany us to Venice since she did not have classes on the weekend.Unfortunately we were not able to contact the hotel ahead of time to change our reservation.When we arrived at the All'Angelo on Saturday and explained our situation, I asked if they could possibly accmodate us in the Triple room by adding a cot for the younger daughter.I was told that Quadruple accomodation was unlawful[for that particular establishment?] I did not question.I then asked if a Single room was available{for me] None available-- he searched the system for another room-- only another Triple room was available. When I did not agree to settle for that room, he did find a Double room.We asked to see the rooms and decided to have the daughters stay in the original Triple room. The Double room was overlooking an alleyway with some ongoing construction.There was scaffolding

This was a nice hotel, literally 2 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco. Because of the Carnevale time of year the price for our smallish double room was pretty good it must be said. While the main room was small, the bathroom and other services were spot on. After reading about the bad restaurant attached to the hotel, we were already wary. Somehow, before arriving lateish at the hotel, we ate at the (street-facing) restaurant which was attached to the hotel without realising at the time! It was actually reasonable food but too expensive. Service was fine for us. The restaurant attached to the hotel is accessible only withihn the hotel I think. Anyway, I would recommend it overall! :)

Very nice to find a good clean well appointed room at such short notice very close to St. Marks square and at such a reasonable price. I've paid more for a flee pit in Rochester than this. Will certainly consider this hotel for a longer stay next time although I should not think one would get a very good outlook from any rooms because of it' s intimate location. Would be very easy to find given some very simple intructions. For business people beware, the free wireless internet provided (great idea) was very patchy and I only managed to catch a signal once long enough to send and receive a few e-mails. First of all there's no hint where to find the hotel. Its in "Calle di angelo" (quite easy to remember) 50 meters from St. Marco's place. Then there heating couldnt be turned off because the knobs were missing. But breakfast was fine. The coffee was superb.

Very nice hotel. Room was clean and well decorated. Bathroom had a lovely shower and all desired amenities. The TV had 35 channels, 3 of which are English, 2 German and the rest Italian. Mini bar and safe in room. Breakfast room was well served with various foods. We were given 20% discount in three resturants owned by the hotel. It must be noted that Venice is expensive. Meals and drinks out are pricey, so please be prepared. However the hotel was lovely. When we return we will use it again. The location is excellent and the services are good.

After being in Italy for 10 days, hotels with free breakfast are a must, and theirs was great... coffee, cereal, meat, cheeses, fruit, it was good. WARNING: When we got to the hotel, we where given a 20% to eat at any of their 3 restaurants just outside the hotel. Well, we should have read people's comments here a little better, because the restaurant we went to was a joke! My husband ordered an appetizer that has some fancy name... it was literally 3 pieces of chicken nuggets with some tomato sauce on top! We were joking the whole time that these were Budget meals that you buy in the freezer section, because that is exactly what our dinner looked like! DO NOT GO TO THEIR RESTAURANTS! We went to the one on the corner called the same as the hotel. I took a look at one of their other restaurants and it was the same menu as the one we ate at, so it might be the same bad quality. That was a true waste of our money. But the hotel was great. I would stay here again... if we got the same great deal.

Definaately recommended!However I must warn others about the resturant next to the hotel. It's a total RIP off, were given "20% discount" but there was loads of hidden charges! : ( We only had two soups, one main course for 2 (which was undoubtfully delicious) and one bottle of still water n two cups of lemon tea - The bill came up to 80 euro! 20% of that would be 60 euro! No matter how we counted back the price it did not balance the bill's total. Afterwards we were told by a friend whom visited venice experienced the same thing, venice resturant has many hidden charges. You should be extra careful. We had to live on pizza bread for the rest of the trip! Don't be fooled again people! I do recommend the stay highly though. Rooms were cleaned and tidied everyday what ever time you wished. The location is excellent and the staff were helpful enough. The hotel is very easy to find and it's just only 5-10 mins away from st.Marks square. So literally you get water taxi from aerporto and off the taxi walk about ten mins n you are there. Exxtremely efficient.

Some staff arrogant and aloof, others really helpful. First 2 nights in beautiful small room with soft bed requested for severe chronic back pain. Third night (unbooked) had to move to less solubrious room for same price. Aircon. not connected despite heat. No fan in first room. Got eaten by mosquitoes. Showers too small for an y human. Hot water kept going really hot (almost burning)and cold continuously. Nowhere to put soap etc., kept bumping controls every time I tried to move. Bed really hard in second room but staff very helpful and changed mattress. Still very hard but made do with blanket folded underneath.Suggest hotels keep a few latex mattresses or overlays as I suspect I'm not the only traveller requiring soft one. No tea or coffee facilities and a simple cup of tea cost me 5 euros and had to be purchased from the bar. no such thing as pot of tea. When I requested 2 teabags and more hot water, was charged for 2 cups of tea. Breakfast the real disappointment - absolutely appalling for 3 star. or for any level for that matter. One variety of ham, one of cheese (both inedible), poor quality green apples only fruit, white bread rolls only, cornflakes only,no fresh coffee available-had to request and and was billed for cappuccino each day. Felt that I was regarded somewhat with contempt because I had booked through Venere. Could see a lot more scraping and bowing going on with respect to other guests and people in tour groups. (I am middle aged, well-educated, polite friendly, and at all times well dressed!!)

This is the place to stay in Venice! It's just round the corner from St Mark's so perfect location! We requested a room with a canal view and got room 401 - it was split level with the bed upstairs and a fantastic view of a bridge over the canal with gondolas cruising past all day. The only thing that could have been improved was the bathroom - not very modern and the shower temperature was a bit temperamental but overall well worth it for such a great view. The breakfast was good - cold meats, cheese and cakes but you could buy hot food if you wanted. Great service and we recommend you stay there! Also, the hotel has 3 restaurants - we only went to the pizzeria La Grotta and it wasn't great - burnt underneath! Instead, if you want meat rather than pizza or seafood try Ristaronte La Bitta (Ca'Rezzonica stop on the Grand Canal vaporetti) - great food and service - the best place we found in Venice!

This hotel was a good deal. The location was phenomenal. The front desk was very good and helpful, except for one complaint and that is that they sent us to their own restaurant which was a huge dissapointment. The room was good, and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioing was quite loud, as it was portable, so if that bothers you then beware. Otherwise, a good deal, a nice place.

Hotel was exactly as the directions stated ( always a relief in Venice ) couldnt have been better placed. Rooms were dissapointing especially our daughters single it was tiny with a fan on the floor and an alcove with a rail for clothes should have had Air con but she wouldnt let us complain and ask for another room. Noise was excessive in her room due to work being carried out which we were not aware of at the time of booking. Eating in the restaurant although discount is given to guests was less than average only did it once. Although the Falconi just in St Marks square was great and the staff very helpful. Would consider staying here again just for the location but will check first regarding building works. Breakfast was very nice more than sufficient. Staff booked us a water taxi when we were leaving and it was much cheaper than booking it ourselves so take advantage of that service if you need to. Not outstanding but considering what we paid it was clean and central so that more or less made up for the niggly problems.

The difference between the outside and the inside of the hotel is tremendous! The building is- as most Venezian buildings - extremely old and badly maintained. But coming inside is a chock: everything is new, modern and delikate. The bathroom was very spacious and looked brand new with all fascilities. Very, very nice bathroom! The bedroom was very different from what is advertized: we thought we would have 2 rooms (booked for 3 grown-ups), but gor one room with double bed + one extra bed. This filled the room! But otherwise the room was OK and we had a fantastic balkony with a super view out to the canals. This was absolutely fantastic! Just around the corner of the hotel's entrance you find whatever you need: restaurants, bars, shops and San Marco Place not even 2 minutes away! I will recommend this hotel

The hotel was excellent - however the restaurant was the typical tourist rip-off. The hotel staff offered us a 20%-discount if you had dinner in one of their restaurants. However the service in the restaurant was poor, the prices much too high. Just don't eat there and enjoy your stay in Venice.

The hotel was noisy. Extensive re-furishements were taking place. The service entrance was dirctly below our window and the building adjacent to the hotel was also undergoing major (and noisy) building works. No chance of a late wake-up!!!

The only draw-back from this hotel was the out-dated A/C system - it just couldn't keep up with the sumemr heat during the day, although you'd probably be out sight-seeing anyway at that time. At night the temperature was fine. Hotel has an excellent location - close to Piazza San Marco, restaurants, shops and ATM's.

Great location for St. Marco and Rialto. Room had beautiful and spacious bath although room itself was a bit on the smallish side. Didn't really bother us, just letting others know. Staff was OK. They recommended the restaurant attached to them and give you a discount card to entice you but I would not recommend the restaurant.

This hotel is perfect if you are looking for a central location, a clean room, a comfortable bed and intend to spend your days visiting Venice. If you look for excellent room service, helpful staff and a nice restaurant inside the hotel, we don't recommend this place.

The room we had (wife and I)was exellent, great view to a canal, quiet, clean and great bathroom. The staff was very helpfull, no problem with the english or spanish, overall a great stay for the price I payed +/- $145.

I cannot fault this hotel. It is located close to St Mark's square, spotlessly clean and the rooms are excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

not super luxury, but well decorated, very clean, brand new and stuffs are freiendly and helpful! i think its really cheep for price. i recommend to pick this up rather than famous rich hotel! we were all pleased, excellent hotel!

Eventually got the requested room with canal view which was great (No 107 rather smelly!). The other two rooms with canal views on the 1st floor are very much beter. Our other room (No 320) on the 3rd floor with 3 beds and a huge bathroom was fine with views of the spires/rooftops of St Marks. On arrival we were offered a voucher for a welcome drink but the bar was closed when we tried to get our drink! Water taxi to & from the airport were high lights of our stay. Direct to the hotel's door.

Since the map on the site was very vague I was lost. But the hotel man was so kind and told me the way on the phone over 3, 4 times before I reaced. (So call the hotel before you go becasue it is impossible to reach only with the map and the address.) Hotel was so beautiful modern and well reconstructed inside, very near (as a fact) from the San Marco. I strongly recommed you to choose this Hotel in Venezia if you want to stay near from San Marco but do NOT want to spend much. In addition, the breakfast was good!

The marble staircase is lovely but dragging a suitcase up to the lobby was a huge effort. No lift makes this hotel one to cross off my list for next time.

Was the best hotel of the hole trip. For location, quality of the rooms and price was outstanding. Clean bathrooms, spacious rooms, and a good breakfast a two blocks from Piazza San Marcos made our stay in Venice unforgetable. I recommend it.

Took a single room. I'm satisfied with everything. It is pretty close to San Marco Piazza which makes it totally worth it. I would certainly stay here again.

A notre arrivée nous avons été transférés à l'hotel Dona Palace qui est juste en face, et qui comporte l'avantage d'être un 4 étoiles (offert gracieusement pour le même prix...)! C'est donc du Dona Palace que je peux parler, même si apparemment l'hôtel All'Angelo semble très bien (les réceptionnistes parlent un français parfait!). Le Dona Palace est géré par un personnel qui connait parfaitement la définition du mot service et qui ne ménagent pas les attentions envers les clients. Le petit déjeuner est merveilleux (gateau au chocolat maison!!) et se prend dans un décor de rêve. Les chambres sont spacieuses et meublées avec goût. La situation de l'hôtel est idéale : juste derrière la place saint Marc, donc central mais à l'écart du bruit.

Nice cheap place to stay in Venice. Close to Saint Marco. Maybe a little bit noisy between 23h and 01h but otherwise, I recomment this hotel. We were very well welcomed.

The room that we stayed in has a breathtaking view of the canal. We enjoyed watching the gondolas passed by the huge window. The room is spacious and larger than expected. The location is perfect, very close to St. Marks's square. If you are coming from the Sta. Lucia Train Station, i suggest take the vaporreto instead of the water taxi because the hotel is not that far from the San Marco vaporetto stop. If you are arriving from /going to the airport, take advantage of the hotel's own water taxi for only 50 Euro, it's a bargain! I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends.

All angelo is a perfect hotel as it is located in the heart of venice with good quality rooms, a very adequate breakfast and friendly staff. The off season pricxe of 80 euros is unbeatable and i would highly recommend this hotel if you like to be in the heart of Venice.

The room was very clean. The only thing we would say is that the thermostat on the shower in the room we had did not work at all it was hot one minute and cold the next therefore you had to hold the shower head which was very inconvenient. We did notice that a lot of the rooms had been refurbished and wonder is this a common problem the hotel has or would it be because the room needed refurbishing as all the fittings in the room we had were old.
