We were two couples and they booked us into adjacent rooms, which was convenient. Air conditioning was VERY welcome after traipsing around Venice. A bit surprised that it had 3 star rating,no lift.Good location between St Mark's and Rialto. Newly decorated though rooms a bit "heavy",not that it matters too much.Typically small Venetian hotel. Probably the best breakfast we've ever had out of quite a few stays in Italian hotels, with the bonus that the dining room looks staight onto canal and you can watch gondolas gliding by. TIP:make sure you have a street map as soon as you hit Venice,it's not that big but it's a real maze.

After carrying our baggage to the Hotel Alcyone to book check-in, we were informed our reservations had been switched to their sister hotel, the Belle Arti. The reason given for the change was that our room had problems with the water faucet and that they had emailed us of the change. Unfortunately we were already in Europe and had not checked our home emails therefore had to walk an additional 10 minutes in carrying our luggage in the crowded, hot streets. The staff at the Belle Arti were helpful and understood our concerns. Therefore the review we have provided is for the Belle Arti. We did return to the Hotel Aclyone the following day to check if they had any rooms available but were informed they were over booked and had nothing. I asked if they had any plumbing problems and was told not that she knew of, that the hotel had been recently renovated. Having read other reviews I believe what the Hotel Alcyone is doing is only taking confirmed reservations for the rooms, which our more expensive to book. If they fill up with these they then bump the non-guaranteed travellers to their sister hotel. If I had wanted to book somewhere else I would have in the first place. We were very tried from travelling when we check in and the additional stress of finding the other hotel made for a very unpleasant time.

The hotel is very cosy and has an excellent location, so there's no need to use any means of transport other than your feet. Great experience for me!
PLACER

LA HABITACIÓN Y EL BAÑO ERAN UN POCO PEQUEÑAS, PERO RECIENTEMENTE REMODELADAS. NO EXISTE ASCENSOR, PEERO A PESAR DE TODO ELLO TENÍA SU ENCANTO Y SU SITUACIÓN ES PERFECTA EN EL CENTRO DE VENECIA.

The hotel was small and friendly. The breakfast area was clean and the staff welcoming. Our main complaints were:- The roof terrace not open Shortage of coat hangers in the wardrobes More shelves needed in the bathroom for toiletries No hooks on the bathroom doors for nightdress/dressing gown No drawer space in the bedrooms for underwear/and t-shirts etc.

Excellent location, a 5 minute walk from Piazza San Marco. The room was just big enough to fit the bed, which is typical for Venice. The breakfast was excellent, in a nice room right next to a canal.

After much research on location, prices, recent renovations, etc., we booked the Alcyone Hotel for 5 nights at the end of April. The day before we were to arrive, we were informed that there had been some water pipe problems and our room was not available. They had rebooked us into their sister hotel, the Hotel BelArte, which was 50 euro a night more but our rate was the same as at the Alcyone. The Hotel BelArte was a very nice property and we were even given one of the larger rooms in the hotel. The location was not as central as the Alcyone but Venice is not very big so walking was not a problem. We did appreciate being informed of the change ahead of time, rather than when we arrived at the hotel. So while we know nothing of the actual Alcyone Hotel property, we feel they looked after us well and we would definately recommend the Hotel BelArte.

The Alcyone was having some problems over the days we were supposed to stay there so we were instead transferred to a sister hotel, the Belle Arti, which was fantastic, especially the surroundings and location. I was greatly impressed by the efficiency of the management who took the trouble of contacting us to inform of the change prior to our arrival. Excellent!

The hotel is in perfect shape at an excellent location, with very moderate prices. Good breakfast, helpful personal. We arrived very tired early morning after traveling the whole night and we could take our room immediately without any extra price. We shall take this hotel next time as well.

A nice small hotel in the heart of venice. Rooms are very clean and new. I like the bed and the bath room. they are in good taste and quite new. I will denitely come back if the price stays same in this high cost city.

We did stay in a room with one double bed, very nice decorated. The location is excellent. Just some steps from Rialto and a few minutes walk from San marko. The room was very nice (see photo), the breakafast nice too, and 2-3 tables were just a meter from the passing gondoles. Staff efficinet, and ff you smile, you are getting back 10 times more smiles.

Recently refurbished hotel, with perfect location (central but not noisy) and very good restaurants nearby. Breakfast: usual italian (cookies, coffee) + ham/cheese/cereals. I would definitely recommend it.

We were apprehensive about the price versus location and cleanliness. We were so amazed at the beautiful accommodations and location. What a pleasant surprise!! The check-in and checkout were horrendous but I think in all fairness the hotel had newly opened and the personnel were unfamiliar with the procedure. The breakfast was excellent! The staff was pleasant but inexperienced...no help to first time visitors. The surrounding area and restaurants were excellent. It was so close to everything and so charming. The only drawback was the two Chinese operated restaurants on the same street. We had our credit card info stolen and over $1400.USD charged to our account for Asia Travel agency....we are fairly certain it was one of those two establishments. We met others checking in who could have used concierge service for help. We have aactually recommended this hotel to all of our friends. There is more positive than negative about it. Overall, we loved our stay!!!

we stayed only one night, but we found the hotel very cosy! everything was pretty new and people are very friendly! the room we got was not small at all, as we read on other comments. Breakfast wasn't extremely rich but it contained all the things that we like most, and of quality! the position of the hotel is great: perfectly between rialto and san marco, at 3 min. of walk from the vaporetto stop of ponte rialto!
