The location is great, only 15min walk to Saint Mark's Square/Accademia with many funny stores surrounded. The area is quiet enough to have a good sleep. The room is very clean and tidy, I especially love the little balcony for reading books or people watching. The staff there is very warm welcoming as well. It's better to add a small sign to indicate which entrance is for the hotel.

The Staff were great, very helpful and the Hotel was very clean, and good free WiFi in rooms. No breakfast on offer or tea/coffee only vending machines with limited items. Public area quite small although you probably wouldn't spend much time in the Hotel. Location is ideal to visit all areas of Venezia and a few places to eat and drink on your doorstep.

Stayed for 3 nights, and location was excellent, very central. However, there were annoying little things wrong such as lack of sink plug, poor hot water pressure and broken shower door. My main complaint was lack of AC - a fan is not much help in the heat of August in Venice.

Basic, but very clean, ideally located....direct waterbus from the airport to a stop less 5 minutes from the hotel. Close to Rialto, Accademie and San Marco. Walls are thin, but when I was there the guests were very respectful and kept the noise to a minimum. Rooms are small, but very clean and beds are comfortable, and daily cleaning is nice. The shared bathroom was also clean. For the price, it's excellent. Venice can be an expensive city, but if you're careful it's possible to do it on a budget. Noticeably cheaper than pretty much any other hotel in the area. Be careful of the restaurants nearby though. Many are tourist traps. Don't eat near San Marco, unless you like mediocre over-priced food. There are some nice places to eat in Castello and across the Accademie bridge. Recommended.

John and I found the hotel very easily from the instructions. The location is ideal, very close to Campo San Stefano, a large public square (piazza) with restaurants. It is also close to the main Piazza San Marco. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Frankly, this hotel's offers are really competitive in regard to value for money. My room was small but spacious enough for the standards of Venice. The shared facilities were neat. There can't be any regrets to choose Hotel Albergo San Samuele for a cost saver.

I have stayed here before and will do again. The hotel is well situated near to one of my favourite parts of the city (and not one of the most crowded), very near a vaporetto stop and easy to find. The price is good for Venezia, and if this means you are not en-suite, well that is not the worst of the world's problems... I have stayed in many places in Venice and nowadays I will look at this one first (price is always an issue for me) unless I had a specific reason for wanting to be in another part of the city. It was first recomended to me by a very good friend who worked in Tourist Information (not in Venice) so knows a thing or two about hotels. The staff are friendly, helpful, and inasmuch as i asked them anything, well-informed. Quirky but unpretentious!

Not air conditioned. No breakfast even though it is called a B & B. Tiny bathroom. Handy to restaurants, piazza, and water bus. Tip: water bus to this stop discontinues at 8:00 pm. Beware.

An old room, very different from the photograph. Even if they are expensive, they do not use the money to renovate the bathroom, or the room - bed, wardrobe (there isn't) - and they don't have breakfast in the hotel. To "facilitate" the experience of a breakfast, the recommend you a hotel, half an hour from the Albergo... Women in the reception were very efficient and nice, but a guy that works during the weekend in the afternoons is terrible. Lazy, he didn't know how to indicate the clients for directions and didn't move a finger to help them for anything. I have never seen something like that. At least, we were well situated. And the building is beautiful, as every house in the center of Venice. But I will never came back to the hotel, due to the fact that it is expensive, old and shabby.

While the facilities are adequate and the price not too bad for expensive Venice, my wife and I found the 6 flights of stairs up and down to the reception area a bit tiresome, especially at the end of a long day of sightseeing and walking (as well as vaporettoing). It is convenient to 2 vaporetto stops, and the staff are helpful in giving information and even selling tickets for some local events, but it is a basic budget-minded hotel.

I had a family of five staying in one room. The room itself was quite spacious and very clean. However, this was our first experience with a shared toilet and shower. You forget how much you depend on such conveniences when you are accustomed to them right there in your own room. Although I think the price was quite expensive for what you got, I think it is relatively comparable considering other prices in Venice. One quick note about getting there from the train station. I think the water taxi is probably your best bet. We walked with our luggage and it took us nearly 1 hour. On the way back, we decided to walk again and it only took us 20 minutes. The issues of getting lost are quite common, so be patient and you will find your way. In addition, if you are dragging your bags, be aware there are LOTS of bridges everywhere and thus, it is much easier with a backpack.

Price-quality-relationship is as expected from Venice - not better! Rooms are very clean, every day new towels, good room service. Our room was too loud, as expected from a simple old house in a central position. sleeping without earplugs was barely possible.

Albergo is very well located Hotel. Easy to find, close to water tram station, close to historical part, which turned out to be minus. The historical part in winter was very empty and expensive. The room was rather big, but there was an unpleasant smell of dampness. I believe it is difficult to get rid of it especially in winter. The windows were to the yard, was difficult to see the sky, sun doesn't go into the room. It was always like it is greyness on the street, even in the sunnyu days.

My wife & I stayed in a double room with a shared bath. Very large room. Bathroom and shower room very clean and never had to wait. Great value. The location is good for the value, 2 water taxi stops from the Rialto Bridge. Lots of steps if you have heavy luggage. I would suggest not purchasing the breakfast at the sister hotel. It is quite a distance and limited continental breakfast. You can certainly eat closer by for the same price. Make sure you get a copy of the receipt (from the San Samuele) for the breakfast, as I was accused of not paying for it the evening before. I had read about this on a prior review so I refused to be told that I did not pay. The gentlemen dropped it after I insisted I paid him the day earlier as he required.

Very good relationship price/quality for Venice, excellent location - in Sestiere San Marco but not too close to crowded and loud tourist places nor to the Canal Grande (3 minutes walk but no boat noise hearible in the hotel). We had 2 adjacent double rooms for parents and two kids (5+8 years), very spacious and clean, though modest furniture. Bring anti-moskito spray for the night...

The people were very friendly who worked there. Half the time the desk help spoke English which for me at times was difficult since I speak no Italian. But half the fun was getting through that. It felt very homey on a quiet street with a few noises when people swept the street below or someone practiced their instrument. It felt like a Venetian experience. It was close to a square with food and 2 different grand canal stops.

You have to leave your key with the front desk every time you leave the hotel.. not 100 percent sure why. The we stayed in a room with the shared bathroom and a room with its own. Spring for the private bath because it was really a beautiful bathroom. When it comes down to it VENICE IS VERY EXPENSIVE IN GENERAL. The hotel was a pretty good deal considering a coke is 5 euros (8 dollars) a bottle. If you're coming on a train from another part of Europe try to go grocery shopping and bring your own food and you will save an obscene amount of mone.

We were two adults and two small children (< 2years old) staying in a quad room. The quad room we had was nice - two rooms and a bathroom. Each room was spacious and had enough beds for two people. Also, the rooms had a door that could be closed between them (good for separating kids from adults at night). A baby cot was provided. Breakfast is not available at the hotel, but breakfast can be eaten at a partner hotel that is a ~10-20 minute boat ride/walk away.
