Hotel Albergo Quattro Fontane Venezia - Venice Lido, Venice
Via Quattro Fontane 16 - Venice
877-662-6988The hotel lies only 10 km from the Venice airport and boasts frequent connections to St.Mark's Square by boat; departures every 5 minutes during the day and every 20 minutes at night.
The aristocrat Daniele Pisani created between 1573 and 1575 the first ridotto or casino located on the Lido and built by the Venetian aristocracy to enjoy country air and conversation. The property became a tavern (frequented by English poet Robert Browning) during the 19th century and was later transformed into a hotel between 1905 and 1926.
These days it has been embellished with a fascinating and rich collection of antique furniture and art objects by its current owners, and offers an atmosphere of sophisticated grace and charm.
On-site amenities include a bar and restaurant, high-speed Internet access, meeting/banquet space, secretarial services, a tennis court, bicycle hire and an immense floral courtyard.

We spent three nights at Quattro Fontane on a short trip to Venice. The hotel is in a very pleasant and quiet location (you can even sleep with your room window open and will not be awaken by local drivers franticly blowing their horns and torturing their motorcycles in a contest to make the most roaring sound in the morning - which is quite unusual for the Italian coast) close to a nice and clean beach where you can rent a small cabin from the hotel for € 70 per day. Rather expensive, but you get a reasonable degree of comfort and privacy in exchange. Hotel rooms and common facilities were charming, equipped with historical furniture and various artifacts. Breakfasts served in the garden where our daughter could run around and feed birds were a refreshing intro to the busy day of first-time visitors to Venice. The staff was friendly and helpful. They did not charge any extra fee for our daughter who shared the double bed with us (as she does at home), even though they apparently could, at least for the breakfast. The trip to Murano offered by the hotel was a good choice - we had our own private boat leaving from a port about 50 meters from the hotel, taking us to a glassmaking factory and then to San Marco. We also used the "vaporetto", public transport shuttle boats, to get from the Lido to Venice and back. They were ok, but tickets were hard to get on the Lido or even in Venice later in the afternoon, as there are no ticket machines in the streets and tickets are not available at the hotel. Overall, the Lido and Quattro Fontane are definitely a very good choice for a visit to Venice, especially if you want to see the city, enjoy quiet nights/mornings and spend some time on the beach, all in one trip. A good and rare combination...

It is a disgrace to call this hotel 4-star. Must be avoided, unless you call it 2-star at 1/4 of the price. i had to leave after 20 mins,as it was unbearable and was charged a full day at 330 EURO. It is shameful.

Although the single room was small, it was clean and well appointed. The staff were helpful and friendly. Water taxis and the beach were within easy walking range. Breakfasts and dinners in the garden were a real treat, although service was a bit slow. Enjoy!

The hotel was in a good location close to the beach and in a quiet area of the Lido, unfortunately the majority of the staff were not forthcoming with information and a little surly. As we were in the main part of the hotel which is quite old the windows were too and made quite a noise when they shook as cars etc drove past. Would better suit someone who likes quaint, quirky hotels and can sleep through the window noise.

Rooms in the old section are a bit tired. The new section rooms are very nice. Common areas are excellent. Breakfast in the garden was of excellent quality and the surroundings were very pleasant. Night staff fumbled a little but the reservations manager who staffs the desk in the morning stood out for his professionalism, friendly advice and helpfulness. The Lido is a beautiful location but it is a 75 Euro cab ride from the centre of Venice. The hotel offers a nice tour by water taxi to the centre via Murano --where one can take in glass making -- for a very small price. The tour is worth taking but expect a presistent sales pitch after the short glass making demonstration.

The hotel was beautiful. Room service excellent and the restuarant food was very enjoyable. The only problem was the double bed made from two single beds/mattresses.

This was my second stay at the hotel. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were immaculate. I stayedin both the main hotel and the annexe. I would recommend this hotel with no reservations about it at all.

It was a pleasant hotel and we enjoyed our stay very much. The quality of the food at dinner was variable but overall we were made to feel welcome and did not feel the price was too high, given that we were in Venice.

Having stayed in this hotel 25 years previously, we found the standard was still very high. Restful ambiance, good breakfasts and lovely gardens. A long walk from the ferry terminal but bus runs close by. Very near beach.

I stayed with my mother four days in this lovely peacefull placeat the Lido, which is a blessing when you return from Venice. The service and atmosphere were excellent. The room was very nice and comfortable, with lovely furniture and airco. The restaurant( we ate outside) was good. Especially the atmosphere and the service. De food was of a rather good quality but the dishes were not so special. Far from haute cuisine but the prices were compared to other places (where the food was more delicate), rather high though. That was the only 'dissonant' here. Overall a recommendable albergo where we certainly would like to go back to.
