I chose this hotel because of many excellent reviews. It certainly lived up to them. The bedroom was large with a lovely bathroom and the staff at the hotel helpful and friendly

We paid 120 Euros for one night in this 2-star-hotel. But staying in a hotel in Venice is allways pretty expensive. And for us this is more than a 2-star-hotel. I guess it is rated 2-star because the rooms are very small. But apart of this rooms are very nice decorated, modern television, bathroom very clean and modern, staff very friendly. We missed a window with nice view. After all we would go there again - but too many tourist in Venice..

This was one of the most romantic trips I had in my life. Hotel was exactly how described on the web. 2 stars are only because the owners are not willing to employ bartender and luggage person. Perfect!!!

The Hotel is very central, with all areas accessable on foot. Also the public boat bus stop is only a minute from the hotel.

The Hotel is located near St.Stae Church built at waterfront of the Grand canal. This Hotel is quiet, clean and safe. My wife and I were very happy to visit notable sites nearby as well as many places of interest in Venezia. The price of the Hotel was quite reasonable.

Due to a registration problem (through Venere), we had to change rooms. Both rooms we were given were excellent. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend the small restauraunt right around the corner. Unfortunately, Carnival is no longer accompanied by the abundance of Music as it has in years past, and the few balls are extravagently expensive.

Great value for money. Very friendly and professional staff (all of them, from front of house to breakfast ladies), large and clean room, very clean bathrooms (but poor quality + choice of toiletries and very useless and user unfriendly hairdryers - do not forget to take your own!), good breakfast (although breakfast room is a little small and dark - breakfast on the patio in nice weather must be lovely). Location is good in quiet, residential area, but a 5-10 mins walk from the Rialto Bridge. Overall, very pleased with our stay and we would happily book there again.

I loved it here. The location was outstanding. My room was lovely with an excellent new and very large bathroom. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but very nice with a good selection of fruit. i felt very safe syaying there as there is good security and someone always on call.

We had an excellent experience at the hotel; it lived up to its reputation. We arrived early off the overnight train and our room was ready, together with a 'welcome breakfast' and good hot coffee. Sandro and Walter and their employees were unfailingly helpful. We would certainly use the hotel again.

We stayed in Venice for 4 nights and our stay at this hotel was wonderful and memorable. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room small but clean and cosy. The breakfast is buffet style, but plentiful and the hot chocolate is to die for....a meal in itself! The position of the hotel in the city could not be better being in a quiet residential area, but only 10 mins walk to the Rialto Bridge and 20 to St Marks Square (quicker if you are not distracted by the wonderful shop windows!). The nearest Vaporetto stop is a few yards from the hotel on Line 1- the most useful for accessing the popular areas. There are some excellent value places to eat 10mins walk from the hotel. We especially liked Birraria la Corte (San Polo 2168) in Campo San Polo and Osteria Al Ponte la Patatina (Ponte San Polo 2741). Both offer good value meals in a city that can be very overpriced. For even better value, visit Osteria Bea Vita on Fondamenta delle Cappucino (Cannaregio 3082). Ask for the locals set menu. Real Venetian food, no frills! This makes an excellent lunch stop when visiting the Ghetto area. As you can tell, we loved Venice and we loved the Al Ponte Mocenigo. We would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet base in Venice.

This place is a gem. The rooms are beautiful, the setting and food for the breakfasts perfect. The whole place is just so picturesque. You really feel that you are in Venice of old (the house was built in the 16th century) but with its updating a few years ago has all the modern acroutements. Walter (and several others on his staff) was so helpful - went out of his way to do things for us. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Rialto bridge and less than ten minutes more to St. Marks. That's fine. When you come back in the evening you are in the quiet section of town full of great restaurants. We loved it and couldn't recommend it more. Fantastic value for money.

This was a wonderful hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was brilliant it's served in their small courtyard (weather permitting). If you have seen all the sights in Venice, visit the island of Burano. It's a 40min ferry ride but well worth it. It's a pretty little fishing village the streets and canals are lined with bright, pastel-coloured houses. Go see for yourself. P.S This hotel deserves 4* not 2* it's a gem.

I can't say enough good things about this hotel. It was easily the nicest hotel we stayed in during our 11-day tour of Italy and the price we paid is just ridiculously low. It's 50 feet from the grand canal, and the entire place has been completely remodeled and is brand new with all amenities. The ceilings are a good 18 feet high with beams running across them. The bathtubs are massive. The people who work here are just genuinely nice. It's about 100 feet from the insanity of Venice--just far enough to make sure it's quiet when it's time for bed. Is this hotel really rated two stars? That's insane. This is easily a four-star hotel compared to the rest of italy, and it was the only time I was there when I felt like I was staying in a "nice" hotel. Book without question--even those of you who are hotel snobs. You won't be disappointed and you'll have some cash to offset the god awful exchange rate of the US dollar.

The map in Venere is not correct!! So, don't try to walk to the hotel, I recommend to take the water bus, the hotel is very near the bus stop 4 (line1). This hotel is good, very clean & comfort.

Australia, Apr 2006
We stayed at Al Ponte Mocegnio for 3 nights recently and found it (once we found it!) excellent. This is a 4 star place under a 2 star banner. The rooms were comfortable and spacious enough for our family of 4 and collection of bags and the hosts very welcoming and friendly. We had a family room (the red one with the chimney on the website)(1xdouble, 2xsofa fold-outs) which didn't overlook the canal, but rather the property across the street; which happened to be only shoulder-width away, but the room had large windows for ventilation (with curtains) and tiny chimney windows for cross-ventilation and was fine. The breakfasts in the courtyard were lovely as well. What made the stay particularly good however was the way that it is a small hotel and the owners, who were there every day, went out of their way to be helpful and were more than happy to chat about the heritage and architecture of Venice (our special interest) for ages. They also gave us lots of dinner suggestions which were accurate in their description and covered a range of palates and pockets. One day we went out to the Lido island to look around and were surprised when we heard a 'hello there!'. Turning around, there was one of the owners, leading to another interesting conversation about the differences between the different parts of Venice. Our only difficulty was finding the entrance of the hotel when we had all the bags. We caught the public ferry) which was easy, if crowded, but we saw no signage to find the path to the hotel and we went the long way which involved going up and over several bridges, before finding out that there is a direct and level access if you walk down the right hand side of the lane beside the church and then turn left down the afore-mentioned tiny alley. They have just updated their website, and it now includes a better description of how to find the hotel. All in all a truly memorable stay made even better by this hotel. We'll return for

WOW!! I almost don't know were to start! This is a superb hotel! Newly renovated, it took them a year and a half to renovate this ten room hotel and it really shows. The thought and detail that they have put in to it is almost impossible to miss. Rooms were super clean & QUIET, service was top notch and it all comes with a gigantic smile. We instantly felt like we were thrown in to a mystical Venetian world here. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station, if you have a lot of luggage I may recommend taking the "boat bus" to eliminate having to haul all your luggage up and down the bridges. Be sure to study an accurate map before arriving. for a rating, 10.5 out of a 10. Don't even hesitate about booking.

Our room was off the reception area. As a result any activity from there could be heard. The map provided by venere.com was useless for finding the hotel, it just gave a general idea of location. However, the Al Ponte Mocenigo is a lovely hotel in a good location. The staff are helpful and friendly. The room was of a very high standard and the continental breakfast was well worth getting out of a comfortable bed for... We would definitely stay here again.

Our hosts were extremely helpful, friendly and most accomodating. Their primary focus was making sure that our stay was pleasant and comfortable. The rooms were quite large and very comfortable. Yhis is really a 4 star hotel in stead of the 2 shown. Price Quality is extremely well. Newly renovated hotel (2005) with maintained old structure of the building. Very high Ceilings in the rooms (> 4 meters). Take the Canal Grande boat line 1 , it will bring you as close as 100 meters from the hotel. Very kind well Engklisch speaking owner. Situated next to a small, charming canal. Fine Breakfast in the room or in the garden. We spent one night in our honeymoon in this hotel and it was better and more charming compared to another 5 star hotel we visited the day before. Absolutely go for it !

Excellent welcoming, very nice and spacious room (it was the one photographed on the web site, the largest maybe), breakfast (continental) in the little courtyard. The hotel is very close to a vaporetto stop. Our room was looking on the courtyard, so no large view, but nice. Quite expensive, even if the breakfast was included, and that there was no extracharge for our daughter 7 year old, but it is Venezzia !
