A great accomodation for the $$. A little confusing about check-in at neighboring property but very comfortable and quiet rooms. NO lift and quite a few stairs...so travel light!

The reception desk is half-block away at Hotel Canal. No one on-site. Anyone with more than one suitcase, steer clear! Long, steep stairway from street to rooms. No ensuite baths--only 2 toilets and 1 shower for all the rooms located on the floor (at a guess--12 rooms). Good location, across grand canal from Santa Lucia trainstation. One good point!

The hotel was super easy to find. Great location for arriving via train & for getting on the water taxi. The room was as described as was the shared bathroom. The room & the shared bath were very, very clean. Check in was right down the street about 30 feet & took about 15 minutes. There was no internet available in the rooms. The housemaid in the breakfast area was horribly rude - so rude, in fact, that we choose not to eat breakfast at Airone in spite of the low price. It was noisy outside our bedroom window because we faced the grand canal. Our mattress was a spring mattress - which was not the most comfortable. The Air Conditioner worked SO well...we were freezing!

The location of the hostel is just perfect. If you need just a place to sleep where is clean and silent, the hostel is the right choice. however there is nothing more. the price is not very cheap but just for the location it worths.

There was no interaction with staff at Hotel Airone because there doesn't appear to be any staff. Met with one breakfast lady who was more interested in demanding our room number. At check in we were met with a very disinterested reception. Hotel was ok but we would be looking for somewhere else next time.

my partner and myself stayed monday to friday 1st week of april 2009. the location is indeed on the grand canal directly opposite the railway station and a few minutes (two small bridges) from bus station. very convenient for water bus and taxi too.the hotel was clean and tidy -but unusually no staff at the hotel other than the maid. breakfast was poor although we spent the last day at the Canal hotel(where you check in for the Airone) and the breakfast was fine. the weather was spot on and we enjoyed our first time stay in venice

I booked a standard room overlooking a garden. I paied a supplement of 10 euros to have a room overlooking the Grand Canal. The view was fantastic. Breakfast was nothing special but enought. My room was nice. No problem with this Hotel. A big CIAO to the staff of the Hotel Airone

Glad to find our expectation satisfied. We didn’t had bad surprise arriving at the hotel airone. The room are exactly as the picture in the web. Even if it is a 2 stars hotel we have had the possibility of sleeping in a room fitted in Venetian style without spending a fortune as typical in Venice. Even more the staff of the reception was very friendly and helpful giving us good advices. Next time we will come back to Venice we will sleep here again

We were very disappointed in this hotel. It was way over priced for what we got. The only thing that was good was the location, other than that, the hotel did not offer anything else. We will never stay there again. We were traveling with two teenage children. This was the worst hotel of our vacation.

The website claims there are all private washrooms, however when you get there, you find out the room has a shared washroom, i was incredibly disappointed becasue of this, and the hotel did bother helping me with this. There is reception desk you have to go to another hotel for service.

The rooms are TINY. I booked 2 rooms 1 for children and 1 for parents. Kids room overlooked main canal, it was tiny but acceptable because of location and quiet airconditioning. Secong room was rediculously small and had a portable airconditioner which was impossible to have on while in the room because of the noise Overall rooms to small for the price

We chose the Airone because we were coming in on the train and leaving the next day by bus to the airport and it was perfectly positioned to avoid getting lost. It ends up we didn't even stay at the Airone. There was a sign in the window directing us to a hotel further down the street in which we ended up staying. They noted that we had asked for a view and offered us one for an additional $20 Euros which we accepted. We had a great view of the Grand Canal although the view on the other side of the canal wasn't very interesting — a building site with graffitied fences. The bathroom was wonderful and clean, the room was comfortable and again, for our purposes, the location was perfect.

I was surprised to know that this hotel has no reception. You need to go to Hotel Canal because Hotel Canal is the main hotel and I think this is an additional rooms which they have advertised as a hotel . Breakfast in Airone is not good. I would suggest people to book Hotel Canal instead of Airon. €100 a night is not cheap for a hotel like Airone. On the other hand, the room was neat and clean with air conditioning at 18.. It was really chilling as outside temperature was close to 37 degrees.. Yes is was hot outside because it was June. This hotel is very close to train and bus stand.

Place was clean. Did not look like pictures posted online. This hotel does not have reception desk, you have to go to another hotel down the way to get your key. Place was dark. Our room had been doublebooked so we were offered a cheaper room with a shared bathroom and breakfast included to compensate. As it was only one night stay it was o.k. In the morning at breakfast the staff seemed confused and had to phone to check we could have breakfast which was a little embarressing. The reception and management were in a hotel three doors away.

This was mine and my partner first holiday together, so obviously we wanted something romantic, Venice provided this in abundance. The hotel was very basic but clean. The room was cleaned daily and the towels changed daily. Only fault was air conditioning wasn't working. Looking at other hotels in Venice we decided the location of ours was easy to access from the bus station and it was very quiet and right by the canal. There are lots of nice hotels in Venice but we believe we got what we paid for and we were glad we stayed there. As most people only use the hotel for sleeping in this was just right for that purpose. If I was to return I would use this hotel again.

I was so looking forward to staying at this hotel as it was a room overlooking the grand canal for our final night. However upon arrival we were directed to a hotel a few doors away and informed that Airone had electrical problems and we were booked into the Canal Hotel instead. I was very disappointed. Our room was on the third floor in an attic room - there was no lift so we had to carry our bags up a lot of stairs. Our room overlooked houses behind us and we could hear birds in the roof above us. Although we got the room for thesame price and it was supposed to be a star higher i did not think it was good. The breakfast was however substantial and much bigger and better than other italian hotels. Overall i was disappointed with being moved and our room.

There was a slight surprise as it was not mentioned here that Hotel Airone had been merged with Hotel Canal. Reception is at Hotel Canal which is located about two doors away. The room is small but clean. Though heated, there is not airconditioning if the rooms get too hot and stuffy. The great thing is the location. Right across the Grand Canal from the train station and a stone throw's away from the Piazza Romale. Excellent location of the final leg of our Italy trip.

Rooms are clean. The hotel location is perfect: close to train station, bus station (piazzale roma) and water bus stop; it is also very easy to find the way to the main attraction from the hotel. For a low cost hotel, that was a perfect choice. It was very nice to have the possibility of being completly free to come and go because we has our own keys! Good value for quality price. I will surely recommend to my friends!

We loved having a room overlooking the Grand Canal, despite the noise. The hotel is outdated and not overly well maintained. There is barely enough room to walk between the end of the bed and the wall. The bed was very old, with sagging springs and completely worn mattress. But we slept surprisingly well. Bathroom was fine, tho old and basic. On arrival we found the door unlocked as the housekeeper was taking out the laundry. That caused us to miss the note on the door directing us to another hotel a few doors away for reception. So, after hauling our luggage up the long stairway to the "first" floor, we were puzzled by the lack of any staff anywhere. Eventually we found our way to the other hotel and got a key to our room. Walls are thin, but fortunately we didn't have any loud neighbors. Breakfast consists of rolls and coffee, but pretty standard for area.

This low-cost hotel is an excellent choice for Venice. The rooms are clean and the loctation (on the Grand Canal, across from the train station and near several water taxi stops) can't be beat. Very easy to find! Finding your way to main attractions was simple with well-placed signs. We stayed 2 nights in October 07 in a double room with bath for one of the lowest prices available in Venice, and felt it was perfect for our needs. Walls are thin, though, and you can hear other people easily. Only 1 flight of stairs for all rooms. If traveling by train to Venice, this hotel is perfect!

This 'hotel' is just about OK for school/student groups, if they can afford the price. Rooms are situated on the first floor of a building, around a central space with nothing but artificial lighting. This space is used for breakfast, whilst people with no en-suite bathroom traipse through on their way to and from toilet and shower. The website gives the impression of small but bright rooms. The reality is that Airone is a dingy place which we were glad to leave. In contrast to the rest of the stay in Venice, which was wonderful.

The woman who checked us in at the hotel was horrendous. She was incredibly rude and made us pay before we even saw the room. I believe on Venere, it says that we don't have to pay until we check out of the room. She treated us terribly and I am glad we only stayed there one night before our cruise. If you are looking for a welcoming hotel with great service this is NOT the hotel for you. The rooms weren't anything great, especially for the price we paid for. The shower was basically a drip and the room smelled of mildew and mold. I do not recommend this hotel.

Airone is a great place to stay if budget accomodations are your objective. They provide the essentials. The A/C and TV worked fine and the shared bathroom was not a big deal. The location was perfect for me as I drove in and parked in one of the recommended lots. As it was my first time in Venice, I found the location to be ideal in terms of finding the place by foot. It is also located right on the grand canal. Its a decent walk to San Marco Square but Venice is best experienced by foot!

The hotel was more like a motel than a hotel. Small and not so nice rooms. Some strange smell in the room and the airconditioning was very loud. Airone was a great place to stay in Venice! It's right on the Grand Canal, across the Canal from the main train station. They were willing to give us 2 separate single beds, there was never a line for the (shared) shower, and the staff was friendly. My favorite part was opening the window in the morning and seeing the 5km traffic jam of boats on the Canal! Venere's map was confusing, and we got a bit lost trying to find the hotel. I think if you ask the locals for the "Canal Grande" and the Train Station, you'll head in the right direction.

We were looking for a convenient hotel in Venice that wouldn't break the bank, and would allow us to book for just one weekend night. Most hotels had a two night minimum for summer weekends. The hotel was clean, neat and convenient location - just across the bridge from the rail station. This meant no heavy lugging of bags across Venice bridges to or from the station. They even stored our bags after check out, until we were ready to grab our train out of town.

In the room was quite comfortable doublebed but for luggages there wasnt any room left. Windows was from 17th century so easily all noises came thru. Off course Venice is old town with old builduings and pricing is expensive everywhere in venice. OK hotel for 1 night visit but 2 or nights in this small room will be too much for me. Air condition without any extra charges was very positive thing! Reception was in other hotel ( 30 meters ) and service was very friendly and nice.

There is no information that you need to access the hotel 30 metres down the road to access the hotel and key. The web site indicates a lift and the actual facility doesnt have a lift. Very close to the grand canal and handy to the station but very noisy and no access to food early in the morning.

Hummm, this place was strange. It was very easy to find but the front desk is actually part of a different hotel. The hotel that you actually stay at is a few doors back. Once inside it is also a very starange scene. The hotel looks like it has been shut down for years and they have just re-opened to accomidate extra guests. We felt like it was extremly over priced even for Venice. The staff was just "what ever" about any thing we asked. Really this place had no atmospher what so ever. I would never stay here again.

I have asked hotel room to be with a canal view and the room had a tiny little window with no light and facing smb else's room. Very unconfortable beds. If you have a back problem do not stay there. As a hole, good location, the hotel reception is in a different hotel. The door was banging all the time somebody was passing by and therefore made it sound as if smb is trying to brake in. If i stayed there alone i would be really scared. As a whole, did not like the hotel at all.

This is a basic but clean hotel. There is no reception area or breakfast area in the hotel. This is all located in the hotel next door, Hotel Canal. Breakfast provided in the hotel next door was excellent and the Hotel Airone appeared to be an annex to the Hotel Canal. No character, no ambience, simply somewhere to sleep. Unfortunately there seemed to be a problem with the hotel water supply during our stay at Hotel Airone and we only had very tepid water during our two days and nights at the hotel. Location is excellent and made up for a disappointing hotel.

The hotel was very simple, but clean, we had a big room, a nice bathroom and everything was adequate. I reserved with Arione as a precruise one night with my mother. Even though the map was accurate, we still got alittle confused, turned the opposite direction and got a little lost which is easy to do with all the bridges. Overall it was all a pleasant experience (after the luggage hauling) when we got there. I enjoyed the feel of the old fashioned structure of the building as opposed to the commercialized hotels. We had the grand canal view which had a wonderfull view full of excitment. Not recommended for those that want quiet (cannot comment on the other side if it was quiet, did not view) but for me it was all exciting looking out the window watching the ferries and people. The only thing that confused me was the advertized "lift" which I thought could lift the luggage up, but of course in Venice they don't offer it for obvious reasons so pack light because the picture of the stairs is how far to reach the office with luggage. Continental breakfast served in an area with the other guests was pleasant, tasty and fresh. The room/bathroom was spotless, comfortable and the staff polite . Plenty of places to shop and eat in the surrounding area. This is not recommend for travelers looking for upscale accomadations, but for those wanting a cozy comfort and to get the real feel of Venice. Only tip.....pack light

Small room, but exceeded expectations (because I had originally thought I'd have to share a public bath; but I actually had my own PRIVATE bathroom/shower). Minimally noisy (my room faced the grand canal), but certainly acceptable. Fairly convenient walking to/from Piazzale Roma, however, you WILL have to drag luggage over 2 bridges to reach the hotel. [note that the public water taxi stop is ACROSS the canal from the hotel, although I suppose you could call a private water taxi if desired] Another note - be sure to get your payment details stated at/before checkin (i.e., pay by Credit Card), as the clerk at checkout initially told me "cash only" Bottom line: the above details are provided to assist in planning a visit to Venice, I thought the hotel was a GREAT value (particularly for being on the canal), and I would use them again.

throughly enjoyed the hotel staff, they were very informative and helpful. We arrived late one evening, but the hotel was easy to find at night. Lots of space and very clean. Would stay there again. By the way, they had great air conditioning in the rooms.

We enjoyed our stay here. Great location on the Grand Canal with easy access to Pl. Roma and the train station. We had a quiet back room and it was clean, with a nice bathroom.

Very excellent location, right on the Grand Canal. Very easy to find from train or car/bus - a big plus in Venice (you can see the hotel from the train station across the Grand). The hotel is in one of the nicest areas of Venice for walking and exploring. Facing the canal is a bit noisy but great atmosphere. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room unexpectedly sported a full bathroom/shower and faced the canal for a very reasonable price. Only complaint was that there was no luggage storage at the hotel, we had to leave our bags at the train station.

The staff was very accomodating and helpful. Their English was excellent. The room was well heated for winter. They provided the best breakfast during our two weeks in Italy.

The website for this hotel however accurate, left us rather disappointed. The hotel is very old with meager accomodations. Bathroom linens were inadequate with nowhere to even set down a toothbrush. Noise from outside the room in the breakfast area was loud. The surrounding area on the Grand Canal was charming with little shops and places to sit and eat. There are however two bridges to cross as well as a flight of stairs to reach Piazzale Roma. This could be rather daunting for older visitors carrying luggage.

Location was great. A 2 star hotel at best, more like a motel if you ask me. OK for the price we paid. The shower was tiny & in front of the toilet. The water didn't drain when we took a shower so the bathroom flooded. The front desk was no help in solving this problem, he just shrugged his shoulders. May be worth spending a couple of extra dollars to stay somewhere else.

Good position, But became rather worried when we returned from an excursion only to find that the reception had locked the only door into the building. We were on the outside but a couple who were inside were franticly trying to find keys from reception drawers to open the locked door, to no avail. We waited a further 5 minutes until the receptionist arrived,(she had been up the street ?) and when confronted didn't appear worried that she could have endangered these peoples lives if a fire had broken out . As the hotel is on the first floor and above shops there doesn't appear to be any fire escape or alternate means of escape, the poor couple left the building quite visibly shaken. We left the next morning.

This hotel is near the train staion as well as the bus staion for the airport, which is handy. It would be ok for a one night stop. We had a back bedroom which was small the air conditioning was just outside our window so it was noisey. In the picture of the hotel they had twin beds but we were put in a double that is why we choose the hotel if we knew that we would have picked a hotel near the center of venice but for the money and it was only a 2 star it was ok for a few hours sleep apart from the air con!

I know its only a two-star, but its not the best hotel. Room seemed old and kind of run down. It was also very noisy and during the late night. But it is very conveniently located. You can walk from the train station-- head over the main bridge and turn right. You can also walk to the taxi area which is also very convenient.

The Airone hotel is a great location on the Grand Canal and close to Piazele Roma. Rooms are fairly comfortable and economical, but not well air conditioned. The breakfast service is minimal compared to other comparable hotels and the breakfast room leaves much to be desired (such as windows and better air conditioning). I would stay here again for the good location, but for no other reason.

I also stayed at a hotel in Venice that cost $300.00 a night. The Airone was just as nice in terms of cleanliness, kindness of the staff and location. My room was pretty small, but I saw another that was much larger. As a single woman, I also want to point out that it was very safe. For those with early morning travel plans out of the city, it is extremely convenient to the bus and train stations.

We knew from reading the reviews that the hotel Airone was not of high standard but was clean and there were staff there all the time. It was a 2 star hotel so we were not expecting much. However we arrived very late 1.00 in the morning and there was a night porter waiting to check us in and he was expecting us. The hotel was just as promised a 10 minute walk from the main bus station and right across the canal from the train station, at that time of night/morning we needed to be close to the hotel we were staying at, brilliant. The rooms were small but very clean and well presented. I was worried that we would be quite far out from the main sights, not so, a 30 minute stroll to the main attractions or the taxi and water bus stops were just up the road from the hotel. The hotel gives good value for money in an expensive but beautiful city. I have recommended it to my friends already and would to anyone reading this. A bit of advise a Bellini in Harry's bar is 14 euro so be warned, it was worth it though.

Breakfast consisted of a danish and some little toasts. Could have been better. When we arrived, the person at the front desk hassled us about paying with a credit card, to the point where she asked us to go withdraw money from an atm. Other than that everything was fine.

Hotel Airone located in two-minutes walk from the railway station Santa Lucia and also from Piazza le Roma - the place where bus to the airport stops. For me it was very useful. I had no problem with reservation, when I had arrived I've got the room immediately. I liked to live on the Grand Canal - to hear sound of water and boatmen's voices. In my opinion, living in small hotels like Airone means to feel the real mood of Venezia.

The staff was very friendly and personable. We were treated as old friends instead of as guests in a hotel. The directions/map to the hotel is exact and was easily found. The rooms are all situated around a large commons/dining area. Because of this, it is quite easy to hear noise when you are in your rooms. The common area also echos quite a bit which adds to the noise. The upside is that the noise ended around 10-11 pm, however, because breakfast starts at 7:30 (?), you'll generally hear people from your room. Our room was located near the public washrooms so there was also noise coming from the toilets flushing and the sinks. We were given a free map upon checkin. Credit cards are not excepted at this hotel. However, there is an ATM 1 minute walking from the hotel. The rooms do not include shampoo or soap. The rooms itself were decent sized. We were neither cramped, nor were we overwhelmed by the size. The bed was a little soft, the towels were very hard.

Hotel Airone was as advertised. Close to the train station, but note that it is over two bridges, in case you have heavy luggage to carry. Rooms surround a central breakfast room. Front rooms face Grand Canal and are noisy, other rooms are OK. Bathrooms have a large step up, which is typical of added plumbing in Europe. We used this location as an overnight pass-through from train to car rental on Piazzale Roma, and it worked just fine for that. Less advantageous for a multi-day visit to Venice as it requires a hike to either of the two vaparetto stops serving the area, and a long vaparetto ride to the main tourist sites nearer San Marco. Overall, a good value, would recommend to others.

For a first time visit to Venice this hotel is a great base to go and explore. Really easy to find initially and throughout the holiday [you will understand why this was a plus when you go and experience the maze that is Venice!]. Brilliantly positioned for transport around Venice, it's islands and the main land. We had a room facing the Canal with a nice, big window for plenty of gazing and people watching! The rooms are pretty basic and rather small but clean and fresh. Very nice bathroom, bed, dressing table and small tv. With Venice's escalating prices for all other ammenities, discovering a great budget hotel like this really made a difference to affording our holiday and being able to do extra things while we were there. On the whole it's great, affordable little hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff.

This hote is near from the station so it's very convinient. But in November, sea water in Venice becomes higher than the other season and while 2 or 3 hours in the day we can't walk on the street in front of this hotel because of high water. It is very big problem for tourists who have limited time in Venice.
