The hotel is situated in one of the most peaceful areas of the Venice lagoon. The area of Cannaregio (called sestiere by Venetians) is just off the beaten track but still centrally located to easily reach the main landmarks.

It is easy to find bacari - a small and popular wine-bar serving Venetian appetizers - and the typical trattoria restaurants, walking around the hotel neighboorhood.

The Jewish ghetto (the oldest in the world ), with its beautiful schools, Tintoretto's home, the casino, hosted in the Ca' Vendramin Calergi palace, overlooking the Grand Canal, the numerous churches, with their precious masterpieces and the island of Murano are just a few of the major points of interest of Venice and not far from the structure.

Off the main tourist trails, but a captivating area to explore, with shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Very spacious room and bed {311]. Generous buffet breakfast. Free nibbles in the bar in the evening, a perfect campari and soda. Very close to a stop for the airport ferry.

May be I went Venezia at the peak season, everything is so expensive. The price of the hotel is quite high. I can live a much higher star hotel with the money paid.

The room was lovely - very nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend Ai Mori D'Oriente. It's *slightly* off the beaten track, relative to the very center of things at St Mark's Sq. But that was what we wanted and the immediate neighbourhood was nice, with plenty of restaurants and bars.

very good hotel ! one thing to notice: its location is a bit out of the central touristic area, but we did not consider it as a problem. a short walk will bring you there. In return you will benefit of a quiet and authentic atmosphere.

This is a very nice small hotel. Its big advantage (or disadvantage, for some) is that it is a bit removed from the main tourist areas. We found this to be a real plus -- the quiet canals near the Mori D'Oriente were a welcome change from the area near the Rialto in high tourist season. The hotel itself offers a high standard of service and accomodation -- well deserving of its four stars.

This is a wonderful place to stsy if you are happy to be away from the tourists & the main drag. There are fantastic local bars & restaurants nearby, you get a taste of the real Venice. Our only recommendation to improve this fantastic hotel would be to provide a better breafast,eg a hot buffet. We will go back again

Great hotel. Bar makes a great Bellini! Very quiet location. Easy to find. Only 5 mins walk from the train station so don't bother getting the vapretto. They should look at changing the directions listed for finding the hotel because it was much easier to find by foot and we also think quicker than the directions provided. It is not right in the middle of everything but the fact that it was away from the crowds of people made the location perfect. Great value for money. Breakfast was pretty good. Overall a great hotel!

Very nice and quiet hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. Nice breakfast buffet. A lot of Venetians life in the area of the hotel. Therefore, it is more original than all other touristic places in Venice. But you can reach everything within minutes. For example, it is just 5 Minutes to some Vaporetto stations, 20 Minutes to the Rialto Bridge. Great romantic hotel for young couples.

We had a great stay. The hotel is a little difficult to reach if you don't know how to get around in Venice, but we finally got to it. You have to take from the airport the boat to Fondamente Nove, and from there the 41 boat going to Piazzale Roma, not to Murano (our mistake), and get off at Orto (the first station), from there if you have a map it's easy to find. If you come from the airport by bus (5) you get off at Piazzale Roma and from there you have to take the 42 boat to Fondamente Nove and get off at Orto. The staff was very friendly and had great recommendations for where to eat. If you want to go to Murano the hotel provides every day at around 10 a free taxi till there, where a guide will pick you up and show you a glass factory and a glass exposition. The breakfast was included in the price.

The hotel stuff was extremely rude when we arrived and did not even let us in the hall before the check in time. Outside it was raining but the conceirge told us clearly stated that till the check in time we could not even stay in the bar or in the hall of the hotel. Unacceptable for a 4 star hotel.

This hotel is perfect if you stay more than two nights in Venice. I can only confirm what the other reviews state. If you stay only two or three days, I would recommend the Hotel della Commedia, which has exactly the same owner, has opened only recently and is more centrally located. Of course then you will miss the wonderful quiet surroundings of Ai Mori, and all the nice osterias and bars ...

Good: Interesting Venetian/Egyptian(?) decorated rooms. Clean. Free water taxi service to Murano to watch the glass blowing factories. Bargain rate for a 4-star(?) hotel. Bad: Quite far to walk from the Vaperetto (water bus) stops, especially if you have to lug around heavy luggages. Room quite small (We got a room in the attic with slanted ceiling). Not sure if that's due to the discounted rate that we got.

Coppia eterosessuale.

The stay was ok but we didn't appreciate it too much. First of all we didn't like (and think it is unreasonable) the freezing temperature inside, outside there were 27 degrees and inside 19 degrees. In your room you could adjust the air conditioning but: for example on the first evening when we arrived, we turned the air conditioning off because it was already too cold inside, took a shower and went out for three hours for dinner and a walk. When we came back the bath tub was cleaned, there were new towels, our personal belongings were arranged differently (without any clear logic, we rather had to see what was where to find things again) and the air conditioning was reset to 19 degrees. From the bed the covering layer was removed,- I don't like feeling that someone went into the room like that. It felt like a control and intrusion rather than service. Also in the breakfast room it was freezingly cold,- we had to put on a pullover! The staff wanted to represent "top service" but were cold and very arrogant (the breakfast staff was friendly), looking arrogantly at my husband's short trousers (which reached the knees, so they were not too short after all, and if you don't put on short trousers in the summer then I don't know when. Maybe they envied him because they were all in long trousers because of the cold inside?) Somehow the atmosphere was strange, we didn't feel at home. A apart from the nicely decorated rooms and the water steam in the entrance there was nothing arab, and somehow it didn't make me dream like others described the hotel. For what ever reason the breakfast of the first night was included, the second night not but anyway we had to leave early (maybe I have overread this when booking?). The breakfast had a big variety but the coffee and hot chocolate didn't taste good. If I compare the service and the way they treated us to the Hotel Tivoli, I have to say that Ai Mori D'Orienti cannot compete. The nice rooms and the cold atmosphere didn;t mat

A very nice hotel. I have stayed at this hotel before and think it represents one of the best value for money hotels in venice. The hotel has a boutique quality - it is well decorated in a Byzantine style. The staff are very friendly. The rooms are sizeable and have marble bathrooms. Towels/sheets and robes are of top quality. Location? It is quite residential and gives you a respite from the crowds, yet still close to the attractions. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

This is a great hotel. If you are willing to pay a little extra I would definitely reccommend this hotel. We got the upgraded room for 240 euro a night and it was well worth every penny. It is located in a fantastic area of Venice which is clean and quiet. You will be overwhelmed with the amount of tourists there and it was so great being able to come back to a quiet area and a nice room. The best part about this hotel is the staff. The bellman insist on carrying your luggage and the counter staff are willing to answer any questions you have. Breakfast was free and fantastic. You can even take it back to your room and the lady carried my tray packed with food up to my room for me. They are super nice and very helpful. This hotel was very nice for American standards and I would definitely stay there again if I ever went back to Venice.

Ai Mori D'Oriente was one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed at in a very long time. Stayed here for 4 nites in May 06. Located in much quieter "ghetto" section of Venice, we were extremely, extremely happy about the lack of crazy crowds over here, yet still within reasonable proximity of all the major sites (if you can find your way through Venice streets, of course). Local restuarants within a few minutes walk of hotel provide some excellent al fresco dining opportunities without tourist menus. Staff and accomodations are top notch, breakfast in the morning standard continental, but good. Rooms cozy, nice bathroom, beds very firm but good. Cable TV has very little english TV..oh well. But honestly, were I to again stay in Venice, I did not see or find anywhere else I thought would be better, at any price. My advice is definitely stay here.

Very goodhotel overall - directions given on venere will get you to the hotel in no time - however do not take heavy luggage with you to venice if you do not intend in taking water taxes. This was the third time me and my wife booked through venere and i can say that thanks to reviews and info offered by venere we were never disappointed - all info on the hotel was accurate Ai Mori D'Oriente is set in a characteristic venetian area and there are quite a number of good not particularly expensive restaurants in the vicinity. My recommendation is to walk in the narrow streets of venice to get a good feel of this wonderful city. Going to places like Piazza San Marco is a must but if one goes only to touristic areas then one will miss a lot of the character of the city- the Canarraggio area where Mori D'Oriente is situated offers exactly this - it offers the visitor the true character of venice.

We (two couples) had a very nice stay there for two nights in february. The photographs of the rooms you see on the web page correspondent 100% with the rooms we've been offered (612 & 613). Our rooms were absolutely clean and warm enough even in the colder days of february and we found them in excellent condition. To mention is the extraordinary nice italian-stile bathroom! Don't expect one of the famous postcard-views of venice from your window. There is no view from your window, except your neighbours window. You're in that ordinary and authentic, lovely and very quiet part of venice, where also italians seem to have choosen to live at (which could be seen as a good sign not only in restaurants). And you'll have found that kind of accomodation, where you like to turn back to after a long days walk in venice. But: Breakfast buffet and coffee even let you dream of your last visit at your dear friends in Lancashire and the coffee in that pub .......... but finding your good cup of coffee in venice is not too difficult. After all: Don't hesitate to recommend the hotel (not the coffee!) to your very best friends, they'll love you even more after that.

This property was exactly as advertised. We had a spacious room on the first floor, as requested when we made the booking and the room itself was very well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The nighborhood is excellent for those not interested in immersing themselves in the flow of humanity on the Rialto or along the Grand Canal. We walked north over 2 bridges at the suggestion of the Front Desk and found ourselves in the midst of a local produce market, lots of lovely restaurants and more shops than one could imagine. Great location and wonderful value. I will stay here again and again.

This is about as far away from St. Mark as you can stay - it is quite a walk, but not too bad if you like to walk. Being that it is a little far from the center of things, it is quiet, but we walked back late one night and it was DARK. Everything and everyone in the hotel was great, although we were woken up in the middle of the night because we could hear the guy in the room next to us snoring, so the walls aren't too thick. The bartender there is great - she was very nice, and from the Venice area.

this was our first visit to Venice and although we have some friends that live in Italy we relied completely on the information on your website, and I must say everything presented was identical to what we saw and experienced. The hotel was located in close proximity to all the points of interest yet a little off the beaten path which made for a quiet stay. The front desk was very helpful in helping us navigate ourselves around Venice and even booked our train ride up to Milan. Our room was ideal and truly looked identical to the literature presented. This is a very nice and confortable hotel, very clean and working AC. All staff was very friendly at all times even the stressed out waitress in the breakfast room. A second one would surely make her life easier. The rooms were very cosy, very nicely decorated and especially flawless. The location is a bit off but within 10minutes walk is the next water taxis stand and your anyway everywhere in Venice within 30 minutes walk. We enjoyed sitting in front of the hotel on the canal, having our famous "Bellini", watching the sunset and having a good time. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes within 5 mins of walk nearby, great fresh fish and seafood! So if you look out for a very nice and comfortable hotel, yet priced right, this one is for you! We would certainly stay here again next time.

The location was great, out of the crowds of San Maco and Rialto, but still within walking distance. Three blocks away was an area with great cinchetti bars, shops, wine bars, internet cafe, laundromat, a fruit market and a grocery store. The room was decorated very nicely, but was very small for a superior room, although this is normal for a european city hotel. We were not able to get a canal view room and the "garden view" was of tree tops looking into the rooms across the way. The walls are not soundproofed - we did hear our neighbor at all hours of the night. The breakfast buffet was good for Italy. We took the allaguna ferry from the airport to Fond. Nova stop, then took the vaporatto one stop to Maddonna d Orto stop, then lugged our bags about 3 blocks. It was not too bad and way cheaper than water taxi. I would stay here again, but try to get canal view room.

Only limitations were the breakfast was very basic, and tea/coffee facilities are not included in room. Otherwise, an excellent hotel we would highly recommend.

The hotel was very clean and cool. However, the bedroom with the angled ceiling was very uncomfortable on the short side. It made bumping your head a real problem, especially at night if you weren't careful. I don't know if there were any other types of rooms. The bathroom was a disaster in terms of design. There was no shower curtain...and the water came out of a hand held device, so showering was extremely difficult without water going everywhere! And after a long hot day in Venice, this was extremely frustrating!! The front desk eas extremely helpful, although my request for a water taxi to take us to the airport somehow got misinterpreted (They do speak English) and the 7:30 pickup turned out to be 8:00....but we still made it to the airport in plenty of time.....however, this was extremely stressful, to think we wouldn't make our flight. The concierge was extremely sorry. The breakfast was more than adequate with plenty of protein (hard boled eggs, cheese, meats). They did lack fresh fruit, though.

Beautiful hotel with a great location, slightly away from the main places of interest but easily accessable. The staff were really friendly & helpful, with English widely spoken. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Great stay, we will be back. Only warning is that if you have heavy luggage and want to arrive by ferry it can be a challenge as their is a bridge to conquer. If you go via the grand canal there are two bridges. No problem if you use the water taxe for 50 Euros. But this is a good trip. Restaurants around the hotel are excellent.

Overall, this hotel was wonderful. The location is what makes it worth recommending - well away from any tourists yet with lovely restaurants and bars close by. The rooms are small - we booked a superior room and were disappointed with our first room so asked to be moved - our second room was smaller but nicer as it had a private lounge area next to it. I've never stayed in Venice before so small rooms may be the norm. Of course, it doesn't really matter - Venice is what we came to see and there's no better location to see it from than Ai Mori D'Oriente. I'd highly recommend the restaurant "40 Dentos?" (or something similar) just a short walk along the canal if you turn right out of the hotel. It was fantastic and hugely popular with the locals. The other thing I dithered about was a private water taxi but I'm absolutely delighted we decided to do it. You have to pay double the price to go via the Grand Canal but it was well worth it - it really made the trip.

This hotel is ideal if you want a quiet little place and plan to spend your time in Murano or walk down the Strada Nova. The nearest vaporatta stop is ORTA only 5 minutes away. The front desk staff was very friendly. When the air conditioner in our room didn't work properly, they immediately moved us to another room. The rooms have the most beautiful bathrooms in Italy. And the breakfast was terrific. I think this should be a 5 star hotel. I would definitely stay there again.

A superb location, quiet and tranquil yet just minutes away from the throng of the Grand Canal. The hotel is beautifully decorated and well run. I booked 8 months in advance and paid top whack for a superior room. The room was beautifully presented, but too small. I did enquire and was told it was indeed superior, although it seemd to be a standard size room cut in half to make a bedroom and lounge area, both pretty small. It didn't spoil our stay, we were just a little disappointed. The bathroon, although again small, was very nice. The location really is perfect for Venice, though. I would stay there again, but would think twice about paying for a superior upgrade.

This hotel was of the highest standard for the price paid. It was our first visit to Venice, and we found the hotel woderfully peaceful compared with the bustling centre of the town. The room was immaculately clean and had every extra we could possibly have needed. My only constructive comment might be that a list of recommended restaurants is made available to all guests, as the hotel has no restaurant of its own (although the one restaurant the front office did recommend was very good).

We paid the supplement for a superior room and it was well worth it. Although the view from the room was off an interior couryard (fire escape) on the plus side this was quiet. Spotlessly clean rooms, staff were helpful and friendly, breakfast was fine. The best part is the location, no good if you want to be in the thick of it, but if you like being part of a more authentic area, and having space to walk without crowds this is the place for you!

We had a wonderful few days in Venice, and one of the main factors in that was the friendly and efficient service that we received at the Hotel Ai Mori D'Oriente. The location is quiet and a little off the beaten track, but that suited us. It was great to get some peace away from the crowds, whilst being close enough to be able to get to all the main attractions and transport hubs easily. Without exception, the hotel staff greeted us with a smile, and the service was excellent. The hotel will certainly be top of our list when we next go to Venice.

Our week long visit to Venice was perfect in many ways - our pick in hotel being one of them. What a delightful, charming place tucked away in a quieter corner of Venice - away from the chaotic hussle and bussle of the tourist areas. However, we were so very close to great shopping and restuarants and about a 5-7 minute walk from the wonderful water public transportation system that carried us to all our all destinations. Venice is quite small and easy to get around, so we really appreciated having a hotel that was close by to everything but yet away from the craziness so that we could enjoy some quiet time as well. Great, authentic Venetian restaurants were close by as well as the airport. The hotel itself was so charming with great staff, a wonderful breakfast room and lounge. The rooms really should get more than a 5 star rating - not only were they charming and cozy and the bathroom very spacious and the entire hotel very clean. I really felt at home. We would definitely stay at Hotel Ai Mori D'Oriente on our next visit to Venice! Thanks to Venere.com for their online reviews which were right on target. We found the perfect place for us!

Very comfortable hotel in a quiet residential part of venice. The room was nice but was a rather strange, long narrow shape. The staff were friendly. The breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay.

Having never been to Italy, let alone Venice, we were'nt sure what to expect when we booked this hotel. All we had to go on were the reviews on this web site. Needless to say, the reviews were 100% right! This is THE place to stay if you enjoy class, ambience, elegance, beauty, and service. A 10 minute walk from the Termini, 10 to the Rialto Bridge, and 15 to San Marco make this the perfect location if you want all of the above at about half the price. Being a chef trained in classic French cusine, the front desk recommended resturants with some of the best food I have ever eaten, and all within a 5 minute walk from there. Our meal at OSTERIA BEA VITA was one of the top 5 meals we've ever had. Watch out for the offer of a free water taxi to Murano. If you don't like beautifully designed glass made by master craftsmen don't go. If you do, hold on to your wallet because you'll want to buy everything you see. Enough good things can't be said about this hotel, you need to experience it yourself.

Hard to beat of it's kind - small, quiet, out of the tourist centre, canal-side, friendly, no pressure. Good quality rooms and a touch of style to the common parts.

The hotel location is great, slightly off the tourist trail and yet conveniently close to most of Venice sights. The hotel is an oasis in a quiet non tourist area. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated. The entrance to the the hotel is very enchanting and the staff are very professional and courteous. The breakfast room is very appealing and the food is of the highest quality. WhileI missed not having tea/coffee making facilities in the room, the overall quality of the hotel impressed me. I have already recommended the hotel to friends of mine, and I will most certainly make a return visit in the near future. It made my maiden voyage to Venice very special.

Lovely hotel, with intimate and attractively decorated public areas, located right on a canal, although in a slightly peripheral area. Good local restaurants, and away from the throngs of tourists to be found everywhere else, yet still an authentic building and neighbourhood. bedrooms kept immaculately, although somewhat compact.

This was my first visit to venice and how lucky to have chosen this hotel, it was superb. The room was excellent, spotlessly clean and very quiet. The breakfast room was very pleasant and the staff really helpful with a good choice. As there's no restauant we went to one just a couple of minutes away and had the best meal of our whole visit. We couldn;t fault this place and would recommend it to anyone, and believe me I AM AN EXTREMELY fussy person and a hotelier myself.

A little mechanical defect in the bathroom was not repaired on time, so that my ratings concerning the service this time are not to the highest score, otherwise I would have quoted everything being excellent. I will come back to Ai Mori D'Oriente the next time, because it is easy to love this place.

everything in venice is expensive but this hotel is reasonable and first rate to boot! easy access to everything, they even included a complimentary taxi to murano (of course you have to go through the tour / pitch but we got to murano in style).

As an American traveling throughout Italy for the first time, we had stayed in various types of accomodations preceeding our stay at this hotel. The excellence of the hotel was matched to the reviews and the descriptions in the websites. The room itself was outstanding and the location was distanced from the more congested areas of San Marcos and the Rialto bridge, yet close enough to easily enjoy a pleasant walk to see the main sites. They were able to arrange reservations for dining at a wonderful restaurant and were gracious and accomodating to our special needs. It is very far from the water ferry drop off and a significant walk, if carrying luggage to the water bus stops. A water taxi cost us 50 euro, which seemed expensive, not having prepared for it. But, other than this, the hotel provided outstanding service and I would strongly recommend this for a frequent traveler or for a special treat. Very luxurious and well worth the added expense.

We were very impressed we were very pleased with our chjoice of hotel - it was near enough to the centre of Venice but in a quiet backwater. The only thing we would suggest is that they have smoking and non-smoking rooms. We had a room which had obviously been used by smokers and smelt of cigarette smoke but this did not spoil our enjoyment of such a lovely hotel

I have stayed several different places in Venice, and this is my favorite. It is in an uncrowded, nontourist-filled neighborhood, but still walking distance to everything. The hotel is beautiful, and the desk employees are courteous, without being over-bearing (No scams about trips to glass places in Murano...). The first time we stayed there our room was HUGE; the second time it was smaller but still fine - certainly larger than you get in the San Marco area for a comparable price. My only complaint is that the hotel does not offer free internet use; I have stayed in a "cheaper" hotel in Venice that does. When we return to Venice, we will definitely stay here again!
