I must commend Rosella, one of the two women we met working at Hotel Adua. She was helpful and thoughtful beyond all expectations. We felt treated as friends, not as travelers passing through. Our room was comfortable and quiet, down a little alley off its busy, touristy Lista di Spagna street address. The shared bathroom served only 3 rooms and was always available when needed. Ciao Rosella and Hotel Alba! Mille grazie for your welcome.

The hotel is in a good location, not far from the train station and main water bus station and about a 20 minute walk to st. Marcs sq. Very near to a cafe/ restaurant which had a cheap buffet area, good for backpackers wanting to eat on a budget. We were staying in a seperate block to the hotel where our room was situated at the top of two flights of stairs with no lift. Could hear people in the corridors easily. We were given 3 keys, one for the main door which was very difficult to open.

Easy to find near train station, staff was friendly, triple room had one large and one small bed, not a cot. Air conditioning was satisfactory in the August heat. The hotel fronts on a busy street, so you will get some noise if the windows are open to the street. The shower was cool at 6 am, but warmed up by 7:30 or so...but then, if you're an early riser like me, you probably like cool showers, too. We did not take breakfast, so I cannot comment on that.

Very good stay. Room was not in main unit, but next door. Windows faced an upper courtyard and were quiet. Very convenient to the train station. Only a few blocks from station. This is important as you could walk a long way with your luggage, and their are no taxis in Venice, and the water taxis are expensive. Had some weird asians yelling in the next room, but that certainly wasn't the fault of the hotel. Venice is great, and don't even consider missing it. It wasn't particularly hot, but it was nice to come back to an air conditioned room to cool off after walking.

We loved the location! It was easy to find and only a short walk from everything in Venice. The staff was not very knowledgeable in matters of transportation to and from the airport. But, overall it was a very nice stay. I would suggest skipping the hotel breakfast since there are dozens of cheap bakeries a short walk from the hotel.

If you can find a hostel instead, I'd recommend that. This place was very old and very simple, if that doesn't bother you then you may be fine here. It just feels like you're staying at somebody's grandmother's outdated house, the staff was about as helpful as could be expected but there wasn't a whole lot to the place. You will more than likely not be staying in the main building, but behind it in some strange alley. Also, close your windows immediately upon arrival because the mosquitoes are terrible, I and my 3 friends are still covered in bites days later. Basically, if you are just looking for a place to sleep it's tolerable, but I will not be back.

The hotel is at the top of a long flight of stairs which makes hauling luggage from the train station to the room labour intensive. I was "greeted" by the man at the desk dubiously as though he wasn't expecting anyone. He answered phones and talked to other people during the check in process as I waited for fifteen minutes for him to copy the passport information. The room was small (no problem) and not particularly clean. The towels were somewhat like dishrags. We booked hotels through this service for Rome, Venice and Florence. This was the most expensive and the least desirable. No internet, no breakfast, no friendly staff, no service, no cleanliness. But it's in Venice.

I had a room for 3 people and a bathroom zu share. There werde 2 bathrooms on the floor, but to share from many people - because of 3-bed-rooms and 4-bed-rooms - I guess there were 4 or 5 rooms. It wasn't possible to shower or to go to toilette in the morning and in the evening. Because most of the time the bathrooms were used of many people from all the rooms! And there were young people who stayed for a real long time in the bathrooms. It was horrible. I think, it's maybe ok for a group of friends or for singles, but not for a family!

Adua is well positioned, about 5 minutes walk from the station and on a street with plenty of restaurants and shops. It gave us exactly what we required; a 4 bed room for our teenage sons and a double room for us. Both rooms were a decent size and (bliss in August) air conditioned. We were in the annex, a building next door to the main hotel, but this was no problem, as all we wanted was a place to sleep. Toilets and showers were shared between the 5 rooms in the annex, and this posed no problems. Breakfast was not provided, but as the position was excellent, it's not far to find food. We were all very pleased with our choice of hotel.

We have been 42 days in Europe and this accomodation was our biggest disappointment. The photos appeared to be great but after being shown a room out of the original building, 32 stairs up, I tried to think positively. Maybe we had a bargain. However I checked surrounding properties and found much better accomodations at equal prices. If we go to Venice again, I will try to find a nicer place to stay.

We stayed in a 4-bedroom at Hotel Adua, in a seperate building nextdoor of Hotel Adua. The hotel is perfectly situated, Rio Tera Lista de Spagna, in the center, close to the railway station. The hotel staff is very hospital. The room has airconditioning but windows that can be opened as well. The windowview is at Rio Tera Lista de spagna street, very cosy. This street offers everything you need, restaurants, Icecream, shops, Internet. Next time for sure We will stay at Hotel Adua once again. Henk Hospers, Sharona Ceha, Linda (16), Paul (11)

We had a very good time in Venice Adua Hotel. The hotel is based in within reach of both the train and bus station which is extremely important if one has an early flight as you are all aware there is no real way of traveling fast. I would recommend it to couples and young people as there is a bit of climbing to be done to reach the reception but as soon as you are in you are met by a pleasant and helpfull face, at least one of them speaks more than 3 languages so it is relatively easy to get help and directions if you need them. The hotel is basic but well maintained and clean; overall we enjoyed our stay and we would come back again.

We were put in an additional room in a small street in the vicinity of the hotel, so not in the hotel itself. We had to share bathroom (which was not on the booking confirmation), but the room was very quiet and we had airconditioning included in price. On the front of the building one of the shopping and restaurant streets from Venezia was available and it was only 2 minutes from the train station, which was great, because else you have to walk over several bridges and stairs, so location is perfect.

Venice is indeed very expensive. Hotel Adua is an exception if one can abstain from comfort. One have all one need - not more. We've occupied a room for 4 persons. Toilet and shower are on the floor. Breakfast outside the hotel is so expensive as it is probably in the hotel. For a capuccino, a pannini with butter and jam plus an orangejuce we've payed in the near of the hotel 9 EUR per Person! Please be aware that in addition to the declared prices in the restaurants you have to pay 12-15 % for service plus a couple of EUR cover charge. Ask the waiters to avoid bad surprises. All things considered: Venice is allthough worth to stay a couple of days! I'll be there once again during carneval.

We are a family with older children. The couple that received us in the hotel was really very nice and friendly, giving good advice about Venice and it's hidden ways. At first, we were worried about staying in a room without a private bathroom, but we had no problems at all. Although the hotel was full, we had at last, for the first and only time in our long journey, two bathrooms available for our family of four!!! Both very clean. We stayed in another building, in a room with two windows opened to the main street, but it was silent to sleep (and we sleep earlier than most turists).

For the price it was ok. We were lucky and we had a balcony which gave us the extra room. We expected to stay in the hotel building but we were taken to another building next door. Outside areas were not clean and my husband had to clean it before we could really use it. bathroom was tidy but you could hear everyone else on the floor. Very close to station, and seeing that Venice is not overly big it was a short stroll to main attractions.

Stayed two nights in May 2009. Room was small as expected, but ample enough for us, clean and comfortable. Shared bath with only 1 other room and it was very clean and well maintained, as was our room. We are not big on the shared bath thing, but this setup was not a problem at all. We never even saw the other guests. Quiet. Convenient and walkable location near train station and nice area with shops and restuarants. We took a bus from airport and then easily walked here. Close access to water taxis and even to walk everyhere, which is the best part of venice. Nice place, and a wonderful value in an otherwise expensive city. Staff were all friendly and helpful and recommended fantastic local restaurant and provided map and directions. We would definitely stay here in the future.

The hotel is easy to find, even in the dark, being only 2 minutes' walk from the station. All the receptionists were helpful and exceptionally friendly. The rooms which share a bathroom are in the building next door to the main hotel, which means heading down an alley that ends in the Grand Canal - all adding to the Venetian charm. The bathrooms are clean, if a little past their best; the room was big and clean, and looked out onto the street, which certainly sustained the impression of being at the heart of things. Breakfast is not included in the price, and is definitely not worth paying for. A hint for first-timers in Venice - you need to buy a vaporetto season ticket to cover your stay.It might look expensive, but single fares cost €6.50, and you'll be surprised at how many rides you need to take during a day. We had a great time, and would certainly recommend the Adua for its price, convenience and for the welcome given by the staff.

Good for traveling students but not great for families. Friendly staff and good location. The hotel is right next to the train station so you can get to Venice and go to your hotel. It is also right next to the taxi/ bus boats so you can get to the good sites really fast. However the rooms are small and if you can't carry your luggage up to second floor from a very tight stairs, then you might want to look elsewhere. Also, for the cheap price you see you should also have low expectations. This hotel is more like a American motel.

We had originally booked a quad room which would have been in the secondary building, but when our hostess saw all of us huffing and puffing after hauling our luggage up the staircase she immediately offered us a room in the main building. Our hostess was very helpful and we both really tried to communicate using a broken mix of Italian and English. She even let me use her computer one day to try to find information on an attraction. Overall, a great stay and a great value for venice. Wonderful location! I can't comment on the other building in which we would have stayed, but I've heard it's not great, so I'm glad we stayed in the main building.

As in most of Venice, our room was small as was to be expected. It had a balcony with no view and used by owners for drying hotel linens, sometimes limiting privacy. The street was very busy and sometimes noisy at night. Also, there were steep stairs to our rooms on the higher level(no elevator). We were there during Easter weekend and the prices were higher. However, this hotel has an excellent location, was clean, safe and an oasis in hyperactive Venice.

Good price for a good location. The Adua is just minutes away from the train station in a bustling part of town. About a 15 minute walk to Saint Mark's (if you don't get lost!) The Hotel is located in a very good position, around 4 minutes walk from the train station. This is very important especially during high tide period, when many streets in Venice are flooded. We would like to say thanks to the hostress of the Hotel cos she reminded us about the flood in the street, and borrowed us the boots so that we can walked around Venice without worry about the water. You probably do not want your newly brought pair of expensive shoes to be soaked in sea water.

Hotel Adua has a great location very near the railway station. We arrived by train and in 3 minutes we were at the steps of the hotel. We were on the first floor which was nice to only climb one set of stairs. We had booked a double and shared bath, but were able to ask and get a private bath for a good price. The room was clean and made up every day. We stayed 3 days and liked the location due to its proximity to the vaporetto stop, Train, shopping and close enough to the buses and cruise port where we went after our stay. The people were very helpful. Using a hairdryer in our room blew the fuse twice, and they reset it for us quickly and then allowed us to use one of theirs. They do not have breakfast, but there are plenty of coffee bars with good food for cheap, considering the value price of the hotel missing breakfast is nothing and makes you experience Venice more. Very good value for the money in an expensive town.

Situated about 200m fromt the train station, this hotel is very easy to find if arriving in Venice via train. From the hotel we could explore the city easily, though it is a bit of a walk to get to San Marcos square. The room we had was exceptionally small so don't expect to much from this hotel. The staff were happy to help with any queries and overall we had a nice stay.

Venice is an expensive place to stay, so normal criteria do not really apply. We thought the breakfast was ludicrously overpriced -- but it was at the nearest coffee shop too. The room was small but neat. The hotel is conveniently located for walking round the old town and using public transport.

We experienced very unhappy stay in this hotel. After I lifted my heavy luggage upstairs for check in, I was told my room was in another poor hotel nearby. I was too exhausted to complain when a good rest was necessary at that time. So the real rooms we stayed were totally different from what I saw from the website which made me very disappointed. It was dirty and rather old.

EXCELLENT value for Venice! The staff upgraded our room upon check in (without us asking) and didn't even charge us extra for the upgrade! Great location - 10 minutes walk from the train station/airport shuttle drop off area. Conveniently located for all you want to see in Venice! Staff is friendly, though their English is not too strong. It is located in a very busy area, so there is a lot going on from about 7am until midnight, BUT the rooms are very quiet considering! We had two rooms facing the main street and when you close all the windows it shut out all the noise. The bathroom shower was not as clean as I would have liked, but is certainly wasn't horrible - for the rate I paid I didn't mind. VERY GOOD VALUE for Venice! These are basic accomadations, so don't expect anything fancy, just convenience and value.

As it said, the hotel entrance was within a block and a half from the train station, which also meant a block and a half from the main vaporetto stop. There were several cafes right at the bottom of the stairs; there was a laundry within another block, fresh fruit vendors in front of the laundry. Couldn't ask for a better location. At first the lady was going to put us in another building (common practice) but at my dismay (we had just hauled the suitcases up a steep flight of stairs) she quickly found something better than our original booking and gave us the same price. Wouldn't buy their breakfast - panini for 3-4 euros were great right on the same street, but it looked like they tried to make it nice. Rooms were sparse but clean and tasteful, shower was wonderful, air conditioning was actually too cold but we could control it. Needed to leave early on our last morning, found the door locked, but a person was sleeping in the room right behind the desk; he came right out to help. Rooster crowing outside window, but hey, this is Italy. Would definitely do it again.

The Adua was a fantastic place to stay in Venice. Rooms and bathroom were really clean and quiet. Air conditioning was a HUGE plus during our September trip. Highly recommend the Adua.

On the website a terrace was mentioned where one could eat breakfast. This was not possible, because the hotel's washing machines and clotheslines were set up there. The passageway next to the hotel was idyllic with its green plants, but these plants are also perfect hiding places for mosquitos. We had several of them in our room and were oft bitten. When we had our windows open at night the noise from the people passing by disturbed our sleep. Also, the iron gate to the passage was always slammed shut by the people who used it. Positive: the staff was very friendly and helpful.

We did NOT stay in the nice building pictured -- we were next door in a dump. We did not sleep since locks on the doors clank loudly when turned. There was no terrace and no breakfast. This is one place I would never go back to.

This was my first time at Hotel Adua. As I only wanted to pay 70 euros per night, I didn´t sleep in the building of the hotel: they took us to another building in a very little street. This place smelt to damp and the share bathroom was really dirty. I think that they should care about the cleanliness and the attention to their customers.

Convenient location for arrival from Piazzale Roma or the train station. If you arrive from Piazzalle Roma, take the vaporetto to avoid dragging luggage over 3 bridges (or one large bridge if the new one is open, which it was not as of August 2008.) Less than 5 minute walk to/from Vaporetto stop and train station. Air conditioning as promised. Shared bathrooms OK. (Ask for a room near the end of the hall, not near the door.) If you want to drop your bags quickly upon arrival, it can't get much more convenient.

We loved staying at Hotel Adua. Many people have left feedback saying main reception is located up a number of stairs, but it is only one flight. The rooms were exceptionally clean, the staff welcoming and we enjoyed the air-con and spacious bathroom. All for a great price. We would definitely stay again and recommend Hotel Adua highly.

Very warm and helpful staff. We needed to change the originally booked dates and as a result stayed in an en suite double instead of one with shared bathroom for the same price. The location is superb! One can get rid of the luggage right after arrival in Venice. Great value for money, but they don't accept credit cards!

Excellant location..hopped off a very long train journey and we were three minutes from the train station and it was very straight forward to find.On our arrival the staff noticed we were two friends and organised a room with twin beds instead of a double. Our room wasn't very spacious but perfectly clean and adequate for us,very pretty.

We only stayed for one night. Our first impression that it would be noisy, because the hotel is on a very busy shopping street. However, we were given two rooms in a neighbouring building with large windows opening on a private patio on the opposite side of the busy street. We had a quiet night's rest.

With this hotel being so close to the train station, it was GREAT to not need to figure out the local (boat) transportation first. We were able to get checked in then head out to get it all squared away.

This hotel was very close to the train station which was a big plus after traveling a long distance to get to Venice. The staff was very accommodating and the air conditioned room was great. The rooms felt much like bedrooms in a home. I would stay there again. The only downfall is the large staircase upon entering, so don't bring a heavy suitcase.
