very close to station and easy to find. Hotel has steep steps to lobby and then more steep steps to room. Very clean and tidy. No smell in room. Room is very small and had to stand cases up and put one under bed to have space to move about. At least very quiet; windows double-glazed and outside shutters make it completely dark for a good night's sleep. A/C is huge, efficient and quiet. No mosquitoes in our room. Room is expensive, though and rude service at downstairs bar on each of our breakfasts there. We stayed there three nights and was much more expensive than four in a better hotel in Florence. Price you pay in Venice, I suppose.

Good hotel but rooms facing the street are very noisy (on top of the bell for reception during the night when you are on the first floor). Another thing, wifi is free for only 2 hours during the stay and I didn't manage to make it work on my iphone.

Stayed for one night July 19th 2012, the reviews of Hotel Adriatico proved very accurate and it met all our expectations. One of the reasons for chosing the hotel was its location and it is ideal walking distance fron Piazzale Rome and Santa Lucia Train station, you wouldn't want to be walking much further with heavy suitcases. We arrived midday delighted that our room was ready to check in. We stayed in room No.2 on the first floor, same level as the reception and breakfast room, front facing overlooking the busy street. The bedroom was clean, comfortable with an efficient air con unit. The bathroom was compact with a nice sized shower cubicle. We dumped our bags and after picking up a map from reception set off to explore Venice. Hotel staff were very friendly and recommended a choice of eating places for our evening meal. Breakfast was between 8am & 10am and we were very satisfied with the self service arrangement and food choice. To say it is only a 2 star hotel the standard is very high, i would fully recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.

The staff are helpful with info and making tour and theatre bookings. Rooms are tastefully decorated and are a reasonable size for Venice. However if you do stay here please avoid rooms 2, 3 and 4. These rooms are situated next to the 24hour reception. We were allocated room 2 and any conversation in the reception area sounded as if it was taking place in our bedroom! We got minimal sleep and requested to be moved for the next nights stay which we were. Our second room was quiet. B/fast is ok but the coffee is not great. The rooms on the website look larger than they are in reality.

Easy access to places to eat and walking to tourists spots. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and courteousWill definitely recommend to friends intending to visit Venezia.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was very clean, had a great location, and great coffee with breakfast. The staff was friendly and happy to answer any questions. It is located not too far from the train station making it easy to get to and from the train station. The hotel is located in a nice area and you don't have to cross any bridges with your suitcases.

A great place to stay in very close proximity to Santa Lucia train station - a must if you are carrying heavy bags and don't want to deal with a trek to your hotel. Booking a relatively inexpensive hotel in Venice felt like throwing darts: every one had good reviews and bad reviews, and none of them seemed trustworthy. But we made a great choice with the Hotel Adriatico! The room was very small - basically big enough for a bed and a nightstand - but that was all we were looking for. The best part, though, was that it had both a private bathroom with a shower AND air conditioning...two musts if you are traveling to Venice in the summer. Breakfast is provided, even though it is very simple coffee and croissants / cereal. Sitting down for breakfast at even the simplest cafe nearby is going to cost you around 5 Euro, so breakfast at the hotel was a nice perk. The hotel staff was very friendly and spoke both Italian and English. One evening the man working at the desk recommended a place for seafood that he said was a very popular local spot (it was delicious). Another day the woman there let us put a veritable hoard of cheese in their refrigerator, since we couldn't finish it all and didn't have one of our own. All in all...very friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommended for the budget-conscious traveler in Venice!

So very pleased with my stay at Adriatico! I live in Italy and have stayed many times in Venice- in all types of hotels from 1 to 5 stars. And I was so pleased with my visit. The hotel is located very near to the train station, wonderfully convenient because in this way you bypass the cumbersome & lengthy walk or ferry ride back to the Ferrovia. You and your suitcases are there in just a few minutes walk. Restaurants & Ferry stops are near. Rooms are small, simple & very clean. No elevator. Staff speaks English. Great value for the price. Bathroom was new, clean and a very nice surprise given it is just a two-star hotel. I have stayed in 3-stars that were not as nicely equipped. Staff is friendly and hotel is bright and clean. I will surely keep Adriatico at the top of my list for my next visit to Venice. Grazie mille Adriatico!

Nice hotel for the budget-conscious. Breakfast is very simple, continental, but free. Easy to find, near bus and rail stations with good access to vaporetto. I recommend getting a vaporetto pass that covers all the days you will be in Venice-- it's the easiest way to navigate the city.

I booked the Adriatico online with no photo's or maps available, which was a little risky, but the reviews really stressed what a good location it was, so I took the gamble, and couldn't have been more pleased. It is very easy to find, and is the equivilant of two city blocks from the train station which is a major stop on the European train system. From there Europe is at your finger tips, not to mention the Ferrovia boat stop (Venice's bus system) is also right in front of the train station so you have to Venice transit system or European train system within 2 blocks. In addition to that, the Piazza Roma was just another block past the train station, and this was the parking, and bus terminal for branching out to "dry land" if you wanted to. This location was ideal. It's important to know that Venice is small, despite how large it appears on maps. The walk from San Marco, where the main tourist attractions are (Doge's palace, etc.) to the Adriatico is about 10 scenic minutes, and for me, to be that small distance from the swarm of tourists was well worth it. Not to mention all the fabulous shops, and vendors along the way. The room was immaculate, and compared to other European rooms it was comparable in size. The drawbacks are definately the breakfast, and internet. The breakfast was limited to a croissant or cereal, and the coffee was instant out of a machine - DEPLORABLE in italy. The internet wasn't complimentary, and I had a little trouble getting the signal in my room, but was fast and reasonable (30min a Euro). The front desk was VERY helpful, loaning me converters for my American electronics for the duration of my stay, and giving me a room upgrade at no additional expense when I checked in a day early, and the more modest room I reserved wasn't available. I was a little thrown off initially when they requested I leave my key every time I left, but as a woman traveling alone, came to appreciate the "big brother" sense of comfort that gave me.

The hotels in Venice are small, but this hotel was lovely. Very pretty marble hallways and lobby. Air conditioned, but not as cool as American standards (keeping in mind it was 95oF the days we were there since they were having a heat wave), but once evening came the room cooled off well. Breakfast was nice - cereal rolls coffee juice - typical Italian fare, in a small eating area. Great location as we wanted to be able to walk from train station - and it was BEFORE we had to go over any bridges/stairs. Which, when pulling heavy luggage along, was wonderful! Loved it and would stay there again. No elevator - stairs to enter which might be a problem for some.

We didn't have any problems while there. But there was another couple complaining to the clerk that someone had gone into their room and opened the window, and that their luggage had been tampered with. It could have been the staff, but it also could have been someone from another building, because our window opened out to another building that was maybe 3 feet away. You could easily hop across through the window. Anyhow, nothing happened to us. But I did get a creepy feeling from one of the older men at the front desk. The breakfast area is only big enough for 2 couples and they have very little to offer. Not a good continental breakfast. The croissants were bad. Our room was clean, and our bathroom was nice. Good shower, etc. I just probably wouldn't stay there again. We asked for a double bed and it was just 2 twin beds side by side. Decor was ok. Nothing too special. No view out the windows. Just another building. Location was great, though. Very close to the Santa Lucia train station, which is why we picked it.

Excellent location near station, in one of the main shopping areas. Small, but clean. We always just look for a place to sleep and don't spend much time there and normally I would have said "excellent price-quality-ratio", although pictures make the place seem much more spacious as it is. HOWEVER - although my sisters and I all are rather lightweights, the toilet seat broke while we were there (fortunately nobody got hurt; it was certainly not our fault, unless you consider it a fault to sit down on it). Still, the hotel manager wanted us to pay for the toilet seat and when I was not willing to do that he really got loud, impolite and even insulting! I will definitly never ever get near this place again! I actually asked them to call the police. Only then did the quarrel stop. - Should you decide to stay there nevertheless, you better watch out, they also have very delicate plastic chairs in the breakfast area. You better pray that none of them breaks when you sit down there (which might easily happen considering their quality), otherwise the manager might attack you even worse.

When we arrived at the Adriatico the man at reception was very unwelcoming (the man with a beard). Luckily everyone else who worked there turned out to be much friendlier and more helpful. We were in Venice during the big floods and this was a good hotel to be in as we could still access many areas from this high point. It was also close to the station and easy to find. We arrived mid-evening (9pm) and the nice man at the desk carried our luggage up the stairs. I requested a ground floor, but there is no ground floor, and we were put on the next floor. Much to our chagrin the AC didn't work so it made for a terribly hot night, but the next morning we were promptly moved to a room with working AC. Overall the rooms are lovely and clean; fairly spacious by European standards for the price. Nice people. Breakfast is pre-packaged croissants/jams and individually boxed cereal. Protein would be a nice addition. Coffee from a machine. For the price and proximity to train station I recommend this property.

Location was fantastic, 5mins from main train station, very easy to find. Hotel far exceeded our expectations, and was immaculate with regards to cleanliness. For the size of the room, it was pricey, but what else do you expect for Venice? Hotel was located in a nice part of town with lots of restaurants nearby, but is at least a 30min walk to San Marco square. Staff were helpful with bags (great because there were lots of stairs!), and kindly provided us with a boxed breakfast (generous portions) for our very early rise. This hotel is literally steps from the train station. This was very helpful because our group consisted of 3 backpacking girls. The hotel is cute as can be. Rooms are small, but normal for Italy. The hotel is right smack in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Venice. Our room windows faced a back alley that was rather loud in the early mornings with locals and shop owners, not horrible though. I am so glad I took the chance and booked this room without reviews, and that I did not choose a hotel in Lido, which would have caused us to have to take the vaperattos (water taxis) everywhere. This ended up to be one of the nicest hotels I stayed in during my month-long trip of Italy, Sicily, and Greece.

My daughter, her boyfriend and myself were on a budget, and for 3 people this was actually cheaper than most hostels. We were only in Venice for one night - arriving late and leaving late the next day! Arrival was convenient because of its close proximity to the train station. We were taking a late night train, and didn't want to pay for a second night, and the hotel was generous enough to hold our bags until past 10pm! The room was small, but bigger than about 80% of the other budget hotels we stayed at in Europe. There was room for out bags to be out of the way, and the bathroom was very nice, recently remodeled. Included in the price was a light breakfast, it wasn't anything fancy, your standard European bread, jelly, coffee and tang! Overall, not a bad experience, if what you are looking for is a good price with no frills, this will work!

We were only in Venice for one night - arriving late in the afternoon and leaving very early the next morning so a hotel close to the train station was a must have for us. Unfortunately this is one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in (and considering the price it is THE WORST hotel we have ever stayed in). Our room was one level up from the very busy/noisy street below. When we first entered the room is was full of smoke. While it looks like the room was recently updated with new furniture and the bathroom remodeled, the shower head was full of mold and the AC had been turned off since the "seasons have changed" (although it was very warm outside). Because of the street below we had to close the window to sleep and were stuck in a very smokey, very hot, very small room. That being said, the hotel is very conveniently located to the train station - just a couple minutes walking.

Although the rooms were clean, our experiences with the staff were very unpleasant. One man was rude and the other was incompetent - he didn't know how to bill our credit card and insisted we pay by cash from the nearby atm or bancomat. Their system where they keep the room key while you are out does not make me feel safe. Particularly since the staff changes regularly and they don't check ID before handing out room keys again. I would not stay here again. The hotels we stayed at in Rome and Florence were much more welcoming.

The hotel is ideally located 2 blocks from the main train station and mixed amongst 2,3,& 4 star hotel as well as wonderful shops and vendors. My daughter and I were in Venice in June 2005 and it was hot! We were so glad to have an effective air-conditioner in our room.

I stayed with my daughter. The staff was very courteous, concerned and friendly. The room was quiet and clean. I would recommend it and stay again. A little knowledge of Italian would be helpful. We don't speak Italian, but the people worked very hard to help us.

We had a two person room with bath and air. The room was a bit small, but charmingly decorated and the bath was very nice. Air conditioner gave us relief from the high temps. Breakfast was the usual bread, jam, and coffee. Breakfast room was small and hot, but otherwise fine. Location was near the train station and bus plaza (to airport); the busy shopping street below was fun. We had beautiful walks and were easily located for boats trips to all of Venice and the islands. Recommended if you like a pleasant Venician tourist hotel.

Really was just a 5 minute walk from the train station. Was nice to get to hotel this quick, get rid of suitcases, and then on to seeing Venice.

Excellent location for those arriving by bus or train. Very close to Grand canal when you need a vaporetto. Very good price for Venice. Would stay again without hesitation

Very conveniently located for carrying cases etc. from bus/train station, easy to find. Very quiet, we did not experience any noise. Ideal location for grand canal trips. Small but comfortable room, good for a short stay. Would highly recommend for short break. Would definately stay there again.

Really nice and enjoyable place very well located. Kindness and comfort at a low price. The only disadvantage for us in this little hotel is that the reception closes at 1h00 am, which is too short to enjoy that wonderful city by night. Highly recommendable. We will probably repeat.

I requested a single and received a very narrow single bed right next to the front desk. This was very different from what was pictured on the web site. The breakfast is extremely minimal. Cheap and somewhat chearful....

The room was small almost to the point of claustraphobia. The location was a plus being down the street from the train station and close to everything.

Hotel Adriatico is very convenient to the train station (no boat travel between the train and hotel), and believe me, in a city that travels by boat, that’s important! The air conditioning is a bit slow, but does get cool at night. The room was small, but adequate, nicely furnished, and clean. Morning coffee is excellent and abundant. We spent 2 nights there.

The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. Being a family run hotel and not too big made all the difference. Cheap and cheerful - you can't fault it for the price you pay.
