We could not fault this hotel. Should we go back to Venice, we certainly would go back there. The breakfast provided was varied and good. The other plus is that we could breakfast till 11 am. Employees were very friendly. Very close to the station and vaporetto. Absolutely recommended.

The standard rooms were relatively small in comparison to the spacious and modern bathrooms. The front office team proved very competent. We liked our pleasurable stay except for the sound of the church bells in the morning, but felt the hotel to be overpriced - but that's Venice!

There is no question that the gentlemen that staff the reception area are the most welcoming, well-humored and patient hotel employees we encountered during our month in Italy. We thoroughly enjoyed the public areas and the breakfast was well above the average. My only complaint, if any could be lodged, was that the hotel rooms need some attention. The bathroom was wonderful, but the room itself is worn and tired. Also, the air conditioning needs to be more efficient. We felt we were staying in a room that was a "work in progress". I also want to say that the location of the hotel was outstanding, no need to pull your luggage through the streets of Venice, it was close to the train station but I never had the sense that we were near the station. The garden was extremely pleasant and overall our stay was very nice.

A well-maintained and operated property, conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the railway station. The rooms are comfortable and clean, staff are friendly and helpful, and the only surprises are on the positive side. This hotel is very good value for money, and we would highly recommend it.

I can't say enough about this hotel, the staff was wonderful, i truly felt as if i was a guest in their home. The hotel itself is charming and beautiful. Honestly, one of the most relaxing, genuinely friendly, hotels i have ever been to. The courtyard is a fantastic place to unwind at the end of a hectic day of sightseeing.

Upon arriving in Venice, we contacted the Hotel for advice as to the best way to get to the hotel address itself. The instructions provided by Mirko were perfect and all other requests made of the staff were always met with a minimum of fuss. Our first impressions upon entering the Hotel Abbazia was one of, wow what a pleasant surprise. Our room was huge, very clean and beautifully appointed. We also enjoyed a lovely view over the private courtyard. For those who require access to the station, Hotel Abbazia is just perfect.

We could not have been more pleased w/ the Abazzia and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have every convenience to transportation, sights to see and the ambience of Venice without being in the mad throngs around St Marks and the Rialto area. From the time we arrived, Fabio and every staff member helped us in every way - how to find transportation & luggage portage to the cruise ship at the end of our stay, fabulous restaurants w/ reasonable (for Venice) prices and delicious food - the hotel is in an alley off a pedestrian street w/ a vaporetto stop within 50' - about 100 yds to the National Train station - good shops, restaurants and most of all a neighborhood atmosphere. Always felt very secure... The hotel is beautiful - the pictures do not do it justice - from the time you enter, the Abazzia takes your back in time in the lounge where we could always get an early am expresso or a reasonable glass of wine to end the evening. Our room was modern and had every ammenity - breakfast was probably the most inclusive we have ever had in Europe - the garden is a delight day or night - we were 100% delighted and had three wonderful days there - a wonderful quaint hotel w/ a helpful staff, a great room in a vibrant neighborhood - dont think you could ask for anything more...

Very friendly and helpful staff. We chose the hotel because of its proximity to the station. The breakfast was very disappointing - very little fruit, cheap fruit juice and ghastly coffee: we ate breakfast outside the hotel on our second morning.

Our group really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was our first of three stays in Italy. We found ourselves comparing the other hotels in Florence and Rome to this one. Although we enjoyed the others, this was our favorite and we felt spoiled by the wonderful breakfasts, the friendly staff, the size of the room, the quietness of the hotel, and the location of the hotel.

The hotel was very nice, staff was very warm and helpful. No elevator, which was tough on hot day with luggage. Very close to the train station, it's down a narrow street that was easy to miss so keep an eye out. I'd definitely stay here again.

very nice hotel.hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. we stayed in a double superior room with large bathroom and jacuzzi, overlooking the front of the hotel.this room caught the noise from passers by in the narrow alleyway . we considered asking to change to a room overlooking the very nice internal courtyard (where you can also take breakfast), but since the rooms did not have guest controlled air con and since the courtyard rooms would have caught some of the evening sun the shade of our own room was preferable. hotel within walking distance of nearby train station and also bus station over the pedestrian bridge and vaporetto stops. breakfast runs to 11.00am and was very good.il sandalo restaurant opposite the hotel down the alley was very nice as was japanese restaurant mirai (out the alley way facing canal, turn left and go about 100m). there is also a supermarket nearby past the train station , over pedestrian bridge and right down the waterfront past vaporetto stops (last building). 24 hr vaporetto individual ticket costs €18 and covers all water routes .don't go walking around off the waterfront at night unless you really know your way around as you will get lost.the novelty of this soon wears off, especially if you have been walking a lot during the day as well. .a lot of the lesser alleyways are not marked on the maps and the lighting in the lesser alleyways can be very dim. if you need to buy cheap holiday clothes , get the bus to mainland venice as its designer shops all the way on the island. the map provided free by the hotel covers mainland venice also.we had a very nice time in venice and we would definitely stay in this hotel again .

This is a quaint hotel and the price is very reasonable. Everything I expected from reading the previous reviews. The front desk employees made our trip to Venice a very enjoyable one. The Abbazia is truly a hidden treasure. I happened on this hotel last year and would never stay anyplace else in Venice. The hotel is clean, comfortable, beautifully decorated and extremely convenient to the train station. It's tucked back onto a side street and has a private garden, serves a wonderful breakfast and has a lounge for guests only. Dennis, the young man in the lounge, is friendly and sociable and I have enjoyed talking with him on both trips. The front desk staff, Alvise in particular, is delightful and so very helpful! I very much look forward to my trip next year and will again stay at the Abbazia.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Abbazia. I would advise those choosing this hotel that there is a very small sign that points you down the tiny street that takes you to the hotel. Coming from the Piazzale Roma, one must pass the train station and a church, then right under an awning of sorts one can see 4 little white signs that point to this hotel and some others. We really liked this hotel, and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Good location for travelers those arriving/departing by rail. There is no elevators/lifts, that is inconvenient for disabled or senior guests. Usualy I wake up at 6 in my home as well as church bell ring near here, but breakfast starts 7:30. Is it common in Italy?

A fantastic place, part of an old Abby transformed in Hotel. Close to the Train and boats stations, it is located in a nice corner bordering with a quite and caharacteristic Venetian quarter, the Jewish quarter, one of the oldest in Europe, very interesting to visit. In the morning the bells ring, at a reasonable time, and this let you feel a special atmosphere, far away from the stress of the modern cities, caotic and full of trafic.

We were very satisfied with the hotel and strongly recommned it - confortable room, nice and english-speaking staff, excellent breakfast included in price, really close to train station, shops and Vaporretto station, easy to find and with no need to climb Venice's bridges. Not very cheap, when compared to Rome and Florence, but this is the standard in this wonderful city. Aos brasileiros - esse hotel é bom, não tão barato, mas tudo em Veneza parece ser mais caro. Vale a pena.

My family and myself arrived by train and had no trouble finding the Hotel. The gentleman who was on reception was excellent and immediately gave us a map of Venice and explained about many of the sights. My daughter asked, and was given immediately connection to the internet for her laptop. Our room was an adventure to get to and we were not prepared for the super surprise which awaited us when we opened the door - entrance hall. walk-in wardrobe, magnificent bedroom and fantastic bathroom. Our room was a triple superior room and we have never stayed in such a beautiful room, and we have travelled extensively. The courtyard was fantastic, but as it was the middle of winter we only ventured out to take photos. The sitting room has to been seen to be believed and boasts a pulpit from the Monastery days and beautiful timberwork also from the Monastery days. It was a very welcoming room when arriving in from our winter walks. If we get back to Venice we will certainly stay at the Abbazia and would recommend it to others

We stayed on New Years Eve, so the price of the hotel went up dramatically. It was therefore very expensive for the size of the rooms. Location was excellent, with only a short walk to the vaparetto stop. The reception staff were fantastic, very helpful with maps, places to go, great sense of humour etc. The only thing that let the hotel down was the attitude of the staff and quality of the breakfast. We arrived for breakfast and there was no fruit left - when we pointed this out we were told - finished. As it was only tinned fruit salad and about 12 others arrived after us - thought this was poor.

We were extremely happy with our stay at the Abbazia and particularly with its friendly, helpful staff. There is a good left luggage facility which made it easy for us to arrive mid-morning and leave late afternoon. We wouldn't look anywhere else for accommodation in Venice. As for the bells at 7.15 a.m. - we're both Anglican Priests so we are quite used to them!!

The hotel has a great location, about 150m from the train station (5 min walk). Piazza San Marco is easily accessible on foot by well signed pathways and alleys (45 min walk) or by taking the vaporetto at the stop in front of the train station. Room was spacious and quiet, except early morning when the corridor sounded with the noise of the housekeepers getting to work. My room was facing a nice garden. The front desk clerks spoke French and English and were very welcoming and helpful. Good breakfast. Classy decor.

Stayed at the Abbazia for 3 nights from 22 October and was very dissapointed. The room we had looked nothing like those in the pictures. I would warmly recommend this hotel as an ideal place to stay in Venice. It is within a few minutes walking distance of both bus and train stations and also the Grand Canal, therefore very convenient for getting around Venice. This might give you the impression that it will be noisy, but it is actually very calm and peaceful, centred around a quiet grassy courtyard (which has had some very posh garden furniture added to it since the photographs on the website were taken). The staff are all friendly, professional and helpful. The desk staff speak fluent English and I think other languages also. Bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. Mini bar prices unusually reasonable. Breakfasts are above average by Italian hotel standards. The Abbazia has lots of charm and character, and I will certainly use it again if I return to Venice. On a general note, if you are travelling as a group to Venice, and can therefore share the cost, I would definitely consider using a private water taxi to get to and from the airport, rather than public transport. Just follow the signs in the airport, they leave from the same area as the public transport, which is about 5 minutes walk out of the back of the airport building. It should cost about 90-95 euros in total, it only takes about 25 minutes, and is the best way to see Venice for the first time. It took us about 2 hours to get from the airport using the public water bus to St Mark's Square then the vaporetto up the Grand Canal, lugging our cases all the way, so we took a water taxi on the way back and it was definitely worth it.

The Abbazia was located in an ideal area just next to the railway station. Only a 5 min walk from the drop off point in Roma Pazzia. The hotel and gardens were stunning whether we got the superior rooms we ordered we are unsure but the standards if so were of good quality.Whilst it is a quiet area there is the ever pulling of suitcases and be prepared for the local church clock to ring 140 times at 07.15 and 08.15 but thats part of the deal. If there is a complaint it is breakfast service was porr cleaning of tables and preparingwas not existent but overall it is a good hotel and recommended by us

This hotel is more beautiful than the pictures represent. The staff person that helped us was more than helpful and kind. He had a great sense of humor which made us feel very welcome. There were four of us that stayed here. After exploring Venice we sat outside on the beautiful interior courtyard patio with a bottle of wine wishing we had another day here. The only noise issue is the church bells. You are in Italy - if church bells bother you - wear earplugs and enjoy the romance of Venice

Hotel Abbazia was very conveniently located - just a 5 minute walk (or less) from train station. When exiting the train station, turn left and just past the church, watch for a small sign pointing to the hotel - it's down a narrow alleyway - if you aren't paying attention to the signs, you can easily miss it. The location is also convenient to hop on to one of the vaporettos to get around Venice. Lots of walking in Venice - be prepared to get very tired achy feet!! There are 2 restaurants down the same alleyway as the hotel and they were quite adequate for the prices charged.

I don't think you could get a closer Hotel to the train station. The location was excellent to everything from the main vaporetto lines, the train station and the Rialto Bridge. The Hotel was right off of one of the "main" streets in Venice, which was full of restaurants and shops. The Hotel was absolutely beautiful inside. We had a room on the ground floor with a very large bedroom and bathroom overlooking the courtyard. The breakfast was very good and the restaurant staff (especially one lady) were superb. The front desk staff were also very friendly and efficient. We were checked in and actually in our room with our bags within minutes of our arrival. I cannot think of one negative thing about this Hotel and will definitely be booking here again in the future.

This former monastery provided us with a truly spacious four bedded room and an enormous and very well appointed bathroom (including spa bath). The air conditioning was brilliantly effective, if a little noisy. Breakfast was served in a pleasant dining room, and not in the garden, which we had been led to believe would be the case in Summer, but it was more than adequate for our needs and the waiting staff were efficient. The main virtue of this hotel lies in its location, being just a short stroll from the train station and one of the main vaporetto stops, so is a great place form which to explore Venice.

We come every year to Venice for a few days, and for the past 6 years we stayed at this hotel. It is within a few minutes from the train station, so it is very convenient when you have luggage. Yet, it is very quite. The hotel is in a great old charming building, but still has very modern facilities. This year we brought our grand daughter who forgot her digital camera in the lobby before we checked out. She was very upset since she had taken many photos that were still in the camera. Several days later, I called from another city to check if they found the camera and they did. They kept it for us until we returned to fly back home from Venice airport.

The hotel is very near to railway station and you will pass by without notice because you will overlook the lane which hotel is located. Better a striking sign or direction should be placed. The surrounding is wonderful except you will hear the bell rings from the adjacent church each morning to remind you to start your journey to Venice... The staff is very helpful and hospitality. I would like to stay here again!

I have stayed in many hotels & for price versus quality this was one of the best. Excellent location, lovely staff, gorgeous hotel. The fully functioning air condition was a bonus. The garden area and lounge area were lovely. A delightful place to stay, we will return.

Our stay was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and good tips on where to eat. Our only complaint was that the sound of the nearby church bells was VERY loud and occurred VERY early in the morning. Otherwise, it was a great stay!

Room and bath were large. Breakfast was cereals, fruit, bread/rolls, meats & cheese, hard boiled eggs. Front desk clerks were very helpful and pleasant. Internet connection was an extra five euro per day, not included in room rate. Directions that I found on this web page (under "reviews" section) to walk from the train station to the hotel were great. We might not have found it otherwise. The hotel should add them to their webpage description instead of what they have! Location is great for catching water buses to all areas.

This hotel hit it out of the park! The staff was really helpful and funny and spoke excellent English. The outside patio area was a little run-down but charming. It is also really close to one of the main vaporretto stops so it was easy to travel. I loved this hotel!

We have stayed here before, returned and would definitely return again. The hotel is ideally located near the railway station and just a short walk from the bus terminal. Water buses stop at the bottom of the street as well. Atmospheric bar with pulpit makes for a grand entrance once inside. The entrance is small and easily missed, most maps show the street as a road. but this is Venice and it starts out just over 2 metres wide so it is confusing to see an allyway when its a road on the map. It is one of a select few hotels with a garden which is secluded and quiet until the bells ring. Hotel used to be a monastery and the attached church still rings the bells a few times a day. Staff excellent with a sense of humour and always willing to help. There are many more expensive places in Venice and a few cheaper but the Abazzia is probably impossible to beat for value for money.

Well located for the station and vaporettos. Adequate breakfast, wished we had paid a little more to upgrade to the next room level. Good local restaurants both for tourists and locals.

As others have noted: The bells at the adjacent church ring at 0715 and 0815 for about 2 minutes at each time. (that's 133 peals of the bell - I counted). For a morning person like me, not a big issue. Someone sleeping in might have some problems. I selected the hotel for its proximity to the Santa Lucia train station - it worked very well. We had no problem finding the hotel and didn't have to drag our luggage very far at all. Given the size of the city, we found the location quite convenient.

Abbazia hotel is located very close to the train station. Walking distance obviuosly to pretty much everywhere and beautiful inside. It used to be a church and is very interesting the gardens and the building itself. Staff super friendly. If you´re driving, just park your car on a parking lot in Termini and you´re ready! Very good air conditioning, great breakfast, great staff. Definitely would go back.

We really enjoyed this hotel - the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, and the rooms were very comfortable and oozing style and history. The location was very good for us, close to the railway station so it was easy to get our luggage there, close to a vaporetto stop, and close to both a busy shopping and cafe area but also the quieter backwaters of Cannaregio and Santa Croce (and the hotel itself is off the main street, very peaceful). We could easily walk to the other areas of Venice. After we checked out the staff were happy to keep our luggage for us until the evening, and to let us use the lounge area and facilities during the day.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. Excelent location, near the train station. The standard rooms could be more decorated, they still have a certain air of a convent.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The location, so near to the railway station and easy to find helped tremendously. It was surprisingly quiet and a calming atmosphere in a city teeming with people. The central garden area was like an oasis. The staff always willing and ready to help. The room though small was comfortable with modern facilities and had a monastic feel which we loved. We would definitely stay there again.

The location was very conveinent being so close to the train station. We preferred not to drag our bags around town and just walk or use the vaporetti to see the sites. The welcome we receieved was amazing and made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. We also enjoyed the breakfast. This hotel makes the best coffee we had anywhere in Italy! Hotel Abbazia was a great place for our needs. I would stay there again without any hesitation. The room was just as described and pictured, also very clean, spacious as any European roome.
