About Grande Albergo Ausonia & Hungaria

exterior Hotel Grande Albergo Ausonia & Hungaria exterior Situated in the heart of Venice Lido, the Grande Albergo Ausonia & Hungaria hotel is only five minutes from the boat departures to St.Mark's on Venice's mainland and from the famous Lido beaches. Hotel staff are available to organize excursions and guided tours of Venice.

The property, declared Period Residence, was built in 1905, soon after Lido began to be recognised as a sophisticated holiday destination, and in 1914 its delightful Neo-renaissance facade was embellished with majolica polychrome.

The hotel, a beautiful example of Art Nouveau design, proposes a wide range of amenities for its guests including a large terrace with bar and restaurant services, a private park and complimentary wireless Internet access in the common areas. The hotel interiors feature furniture by Milan's Eugenio Quarti, reputed as being one of the finest producers of Italian Art Nouveau furniture at the time.

July 2009 is an historical month for Venice, thanks to the opening of the Lanna Gaia Rejuvenation Centre, the first and sole wellness temple of the city inspired by the holistic Thai tradition original from the Lanna region.

The room doesn't look at all like the photos.

Our room was on the top floor and was fine, not huge, as the ceilings were quite low, with wooden beams and made the room feel smaller than it was. The TV reception was poor, and the minibar was small and packed with their own items, so not much room for chilling bottles of water or wine. The breakfasts were generally good, but the hot water urn wasn't turned on when they topped it up with pans of boiled water, which meant if you were there anytime later than the top up time (7.30am), the water was too cold to have a decent cup of tea. Basic stuff - as we stayed in two other hotels 3* during our trip, and hot water on demand was not an issue for a pot of tea. No gym either - so not 4*. there was a nice terrace, but no real entertainment/music for such a lovely setting and people were going out rather than staying at the hotel to dine or have drinks.

Very nice stay. two night's, very quiet, the hotel is located very well but there is not a lot of life on the lido. I would recommend people to stay in this hotel because you're very close to Venice, 25 min by boat, and the quality is much better then for the same hotels located on Venice Island... Good breakfast, easy to find, nice staff,...! We were aloso upgraded ! I booked a normal double bedroom and we had a double superior! I'll go back to that hotel if I go to Venice! Ask for room 409 !

We went to Venice on our honeymoon, and the hotel stay was excellent! We were greeted with a bottle of champagne in our room on the first day. The ambience of the hotel, especially the breakfast area is very nice. The breakfast spread was impressive and tasty. The painted tiles on the outside of the bulding are very charming. Overall, the stay was very worth our while.

Very nice hotel in Lido island. It's good to stay there because you can reach the island = directly in front of the hotel by car. Just 3 minutes walk from the vaporetto station and easy access by car(with FREE parking: large enough for practically all guests). The room was not so large but clean and confortable(in the first place, you wouldn't need a huge room when you visit Venice-city daily). Breakfast had quite a large choice of foods and drinks(very nice dining hall). The price/quality ratio is good especially in low season. I would definitely come back to this hotel.

Our stay in Hungaria Palace was very nice and pleasant. The only problem we had was one very unfriendly lady in the reception. For some reason she was always angry and snappy. Other that this the rest of the staff was wonderful.

We loved the complimentary use of the bicycles to ride all over Lido. The hotel itself was very dramatic looking. The breakfast was one of the best we had in Italy.

We were basically amazed by the quality of the room, we had a suite of 3 rooms and the standard was higher than any equivelant priced accomodation on venice island.

As for breakfast, there was not always the sliced bread for the toaster. I was disappointed when I had to pay the first night I missed because my plane was canceled (actually I spent it in the car at Charleroi from 00 h to 5 h. greetings, I intend to come back

We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon at the Hungaria Palace. It was so lovely to walk in to our room to find sparkling wine, flowers and nibbles. Our room was beautiful with a huge bed! It faced the Gran Viale, we would recommend this as you can watch the beautiful people promenading! The bathroom was adequate but could do with updating. The staff were always friendly and helpful. There was just a slight problem with the sound of our next door neighbour's television which was very loud both in the morning and late at night. It was a little frustrating but we didn't let it ruin our time there! If you want a hotel with character and understated elegance this is the hotel for you. We would definitely stay at the Hungaria Palace again. Mr and Mrs Houdmont

As you approach the Hungaria Palace, the startling effect of the tilied exterior hits you; entering the hotel you find an equally extravegant entrance hall. Once booked in (by an extremely helpful clerk) a short lift ride takes you too your room. The rooms are spacious, clean and individually styled, making you feel at home right away. The menu's are varied and reasonably priced, and the staff couldn't be more welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and would recommed it to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. An absolutely wonderful hotel in a fantastic location. We were allocated rooms on the top florr which has recently been refurbjsed. These rooms are a little small but very bright and clean. The location is superb, 2 minutes walk from the beach and the ferry to the main island. We would reccomend this place to anyone. Good value all round.

Wonderfull reinassance style Hotel. Well placed, excellent rooms - spacious and comfortable. For the price obtained through Venere, this represented excellent value - 4* accomodation at a 2-3* price.

The Hotel Hungaria Palace offers a nice break from the bustle of Venice. The interior of the Hotel is beautiful and the staff is competent. The room (we occupied a Standard Double room) was nice and the noise level from the street was absolutely o.k. The breakfast is indeed poor (as mentioned in earlier reviews) and not what you would expect from this type of hotel. Overall, the stay at Hungaria Palace was a pleasant experience.

Arrived back to the hotel at 22.00 after a long day out in cold weather. NO HOT WATER IN ROOM!!! I could not take a shower. I reported the problem. A 4 star hotel without hot water? I asked for compensation when checking out and was told no price reduction was possible. I asked again and was told that the manager had already been asked an the decision was final. They said that they had checked the boiler and it was OK. They said the water was cold because the guests had used all the hot water that was available. This would not happen in my home so why should I have accept it when I am paying 150 Euro's per night. Surely all they had to do was was leave the boiler on for longer and the water will re-heat.

I had already stayed in this hotel one year before, and I had enjoyed it so much that I decided to come back this year for Xmas. Everything was OK, as last year, except the breakfast, which had become nothing: some pieces of cream cheese and jams on a piece of dry bread, some orange juice in plastic glasses and some days, a youghurt, but some days only. anyway nothing for a 4 star hotel.

As a first-timer in Venice, and arriving seeing this incredible art-deco building( Hungaria Palace)was a real surprise, the location is very close all the amenities, eg 5-7 minutes to the beach, 3 minutes to boats. quiet and friendly atmosphere.
