The price is cheap and the room is big (unexpected). It is clean with nice view from the balcony. When I check in, the staff introduce the facilities of hotel and the sightseeing with passion. The location is good and easy to access the station.

This was my first visit to Venice, I am English and my partner is Italian, so we had different expectations, but, we were both delighted with the hotel. The hotel is 10 minutes easy walk from the S. Lucia train station and 2 minutes from the main shopping street. The restaurants in the area were reasonable value. Watch out for the water prices per bottle, the little grocer shop nearest the hotel was 50 cent per bottle, 5 shops down 75 cents a bottle. The hotel provides maps and information and they speak English. Just outside the hotel is the water bus stop where you can travel direct to San Marco Airport. It is such a well place hotel for all amenities available in Venice

I chose this hotel because we (my adult daughter and I) wanted a location for a convenient in and out because as we were using Venezia as a way-station to skiing, price, and the previous comments on Trip Advisor. It is a delightful small hotel on a canal (but the front on a side alley), about a 20 minute walk (with suitcases) from the bus station in Piazzale Roma. The spotless small room was exquisitely furnished with Venetian-style white furniture trimmed in gold (possibly also pink – can’t recall) with a nice tiled bathroom, so it would be perfect for a romantic get-away. The staff, most of whom spoke very good English, were friendly and helpful. Breakfast in a small room was just fine. An excellent value. Thoroughly recommended.

This hotel is perfectly placed for first time visitors to Venice. We caught the Aeroport water bus from stand 4 and just after the bridge of three arches we saw Ca Dodaressa from the boat. This was such a stress free start to the holiday so we had the energy to sight see for the rest of the day and into the night. The area is wonderfully local and Italian, especially if you wander the area behind and north of the hotel. There is a wealth of very good restaurants although they are quite expensive if you have two courses. There is a supermarket just around the corner beyond Guglie stop bridge so it is possible to economise and have picnics, how ever there are few areas to sit with a picnic in Venice. Ca Dogressa is a little way from St Marks Square so it's well worth getting a three day public transport ticket which you can use to go as far as Burano and Murano Islands which are easily done in a day. Our classic room was beautiful, quiet and very clean. It was extremely quiet, I think the rooms at the front maybe noisier but you've got the advantage of a view of the canal and daily life. There were mosquitos at night which is something I hadn't prepared for, easily dealt with if you don't open your window after dusk. Breakfast was simple, good quality and adequate. The staff were English speaking, helpful and friendly. Because of the hotel's size we felt very private and comfortable throughout our stay.

Ca'Dogaressa was by far one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. I've stayed in MUCH more expensive hotels all over the world and this was truly one of the best. This is a small and simple, family-owned and operated bed & breakfast with 5 or 6 rooms total. This is an incredible value in Venice for the price offered and overall an excellent hotel. Very good breakfast served outdoors canal-side in the morning, VERY attentive service, 24-hour reception and quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Well-situated, close to a convenient vaporetto boat stop. Beautifully decorated and comfortable spacious rooms, all with unique decor. Would definitely stay again.

Simply the best small hotel we have stayed in anywhere for that total experiance. It is fantastic to discover such a gem and in such a delightful quiet area of Venice. The breakfast by the canal is the romantic stuff of dreams. The service excellent and helpful. My wife and I also stayed here in 2004 and 2007, it is that much of a joy to return each time.

A little off the tourist track but it does provide some quiet space. No lift so you need to carry bags up the stairs. Wonderfully clean and the front desk helpful with all requests. Very much worth the 2 minute walk to the typical tourist area. Excellent value.

This was our first time to stay in the hotel and it was absolutely gorgeous. Everybody who worked there was so friendly and helpful. The room was amazing; spacious, spotless and luxurious. Bathroom was immaculate and anything that had been used was replaced daily. The cleaning of the room took place whenever we were out, we weren't disturbed during the mornings which was great. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We also got an incredible price for our stay. For us, it was the best thing in Venice.

The hotel personnel was very friendly, and seemed sincere in there wanting to create a nice stay for us. Daniele went beyond the call of duty while helping us recover our backpack which we left behind on public transport. After a couple weeks of working things out, he was able to send it to us, which had everything intact - except for the cheese, salami and tomatoes which we purchased on our last day in Venice, which was probably for the best. The hotel is in a quiet, 'typical Venice location, away from the touristy area which is basically around the corner - about a 10 minutes walk. We were very happy with our stay, and even after having stayed in a 5 star hotel during our last stay in Venice (during which we brought the kids); we would chose Ca' Dogaressa as our preferred Venice hotel.

The rooms are very clean and in a very good state of decoration. A few rooms look directly onto the canal but ours didn't. It is located in a very quiet area close to the historically important Jewish ghetto but is only a few minutes walk to the Grand Canal and fairly close to both the train and bus stations. The staff were very friendly. But the real selling point for us was sitting right by the canal's edge having breakfast whilst watching people (few of them tourists) and boats going past - it was lovely!

The hotel is an easy walk from the station, and easy to find if you have a map. It's among a group of rather sad looking buildings on the edge of the Jewish quarter, and you have to go into the side street to find the hotel. Initial impressions aren't great - the carpet on the stairs leading up to the room was faded and dirty, for example, but the room, while tiny, was elegantly appointed and the bathroom spacious and spotless. Although it's a bit of a hike to the center of town, the vaporettos stop just outside, and being a bit away from the crowd is a pleasant part of the experience.

The room downstairs is beautiful, but the aircon unit in the building hums, and if you are a light sleeper like me it will concern you. We got the owner out and he could do nothing about it, which is a shame, as it would otherwise have got a higher score.

Ca'Dogaressa is a wonderful hotel--lovely room, good breakfast, charming staff! We were upgraded to one of the two suites overlooking the canal, which we loved, but also took a peek in the regular double rooms. All are spacious for Venice with lovely furnishings and great bathrooms. The location is perfect--not too far from the train/Pza. Roma but a little off Strada Nuova so quieter. The staff is very helpful with good English language skills. On our second morning tables were set up alongside the canal for breakfast. We could have spent all day there watching the boats and soaking up the sun. There are only seven rooms so reserve early. We will be back!

It was a nice and very well kept hotel - close to the train station, somewhat far from the Piazza San Marco though. The owners/managers were friendly. The rooms were very well decorated as well as very clean. We got the only room on the ground floor - right next to the reception. There was a little bit of early morning hustle/noise - but we were able to sleep through it. They served very good breakfast with the option of having it in the room or the dining hall or outside - by the canal - which was awesome!

Our first stay at a B&B. It was a wonderful experience. Staff was riendly and helpful. The owner gave his personal attention, and this was appreciated and especially welcoming. Location was great. In a quiet part of town, near a small canal. It was nice to come back to a peaceful place for the night after a busy day of sightseeing and being around other tourists. Our room was downstairs and a little small with no view. We didn't mind this because we came back exhausted to our room each night. A little noisy because it was next to the front desk and breakfast room. Easy walk to restaurants, shopping, sites and to the water taxi. Close to train station. Our stay in Venice could not have been better and we particularly enjoyed the Ca'Dogaressa. Recommend it highly to others.

The friendly owners and the cosiness of the place more than make up for the small rooms. Easy access to the vaporetto, away from the hustle and bustle of more touristy areas. The only issue was thin walls -- not good when a man next door wailed all night...likely drunk. :)

This was our first time in Italy and we chose this hotel because of the price and location close to a vaporetto stop, which saves a lot of money on the expensive water taxis needed to get to some of the hotels on smaller canals. The owner, Paulo, was very welcoming and tried his best English for us non-Italian speakers. Our room was nicely remodelled and certainly large enough for two. We found it convenient to alot of restaurants on a main shopping street leading to the Rialto bridge.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the junior suite on the first floor, it was very spacious, and very green! The shower didn't have a shower curtain and the floors are all marble so it was quite slippery, but I gather all showers don't have shower curtains in Italian hotels? The breakfast was very average, and the hotel was a 20 minute walk from the main areas, but we probably couldn't have gotten a better deal in Venice for the size and quality of the hotel. Overall it was very good value for money though, the staff were very friendly. I did feel bad leaving the hotel and coming back late though, because the door was locked and the man at the door seemed very sleepy when he came to open it for us. When we checked out the man waived the mini bar charge, which was nice. The room was very quiet, we couldn't hear the other guests at all. It was very easy to get to the hotel from the bus station from the airport, maybe a 10 minute walk.

Hi - My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful three days in Venice - Ca D'Ogaressa was always welcoming and comfortable to come home to after a long day sightseeing in very cold weather. Heating very good and adjustable, bathroom pristine. Good local restaurants, one recommended by Paulo (where we ate three times, very well and for a very good price), and one opposite the hotel - a little smarter and more expensive, but good food and patronised by locals - always a good sign. Everywhere easily accessible by vaporetto (make sure you get one going in the right direction though!)- or on foot if you're feeling up to it - and strongly recommend buying a pass which saves a lot. Good shopping tip from Danielli: go to the Rialto Bridge area - big range of quality, but good stuff obtainable at more sensible prices than Piazza San Marco area. As for the hotel itself - everything was fine and can confirm earlier visitors' good impressions. Only suggestion would be possibly a little more variety at breakfast (fruit? bread?) and maybe rugs on the bedroom floors during the winter months - just in case you have forgotten your slippers! Also a few drawers to put clothes in would have been useful, but not essential and we managed fine without. All in all, we can thoroughly recommend Ca' Dogaressa and hope to return one day.

The is a small hotel (B&B) with a very welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly staff. Paolo, the owner offered much personal care and warmth. The public spaces and the room are nicely decorated; very atmospheric. The public space are small but adequate and very pleasant. Our room, #6, was small, but very adequate. Larger rooms are available according to price structure. Highly reccommended; superior to larger and more expensive hotels in the immediate area that we also experienced. We would stay there again

Extremely nice hotel with very nice people. Less than a ten minute walk from the train station. We booked a double room but they gave us their supreme room which was so beautiful and spacious. We stayed there for one night and we were willing to stay there for one more night but they had no room available for the next day. We had our breakfast (served by the hotel owner) by the canal. We enjoyed staying there a lot and recommend this hotel to everyone. Even the smell of the rooms makes you feel at home.

2 Adults 1 child. It was a very good owner managed hotel with lot of personal care and warmth. The owner(Paolo)doesnt speak much English but very helpfull and polite. Very clean, beautiful and enough space but no view in the room we stayed(room # 9). The only downside is there was no shower curtain for the bath tub, which make water to splash outside floor. It is a very minor and very low cost rectification to be carried out. The location was ezxcellent to walk around either to Rialto/San Marco or to the Railway station. Plenty of restaurants and gift shops around and also a large grocery store near by. Easy access from the Airport via Alilaguna "Orange Line" costing Euro 12 per adult(child was free may be since she is 4 yrs). The trip take around 40 mins but enjoyable.Get down at Guglie boat station and walk to your left around 300 meters. Easy to find. Good breakfast with crossants, bun/cheese, yogurt, nice bottled juice, biscuites/Jams and capachino. Can have bf by the side of the canal, which is very nice. The price may be little high but we were in high season and in Venecia! Will definitely stay again and will recomend.

This is the nicest hotel we have stayed in. The staff go out of their way to help in all aspects and make you feel at home. The exterior of the hotel is a little off putting but once inside you feel immediately at home. The hotel is located on one of the side canals where breakfast is served each day - you could sit there for hours just watching the boats go up and down. We had the smallest room but it did not seem to matter with how nice the rooms were fitted out, very clean, nice pieces of furniture and venetian lights. They have a casual eating area where other guest mentioned how the staff were more than happy to heat up lunches from food purchased.

Beautiful stay in a very nice hotel. Staff was very accomodating. The only minor inconvenience was proximity to the sites. However, this was offset by how close it is to the train station.

Staying at this hotel was a great experience, people must not judge from the picture that is published because is a good and small hotel with very beautiful rooms. They gave us a nice room viewing the canal something which was really romanitc. The people in the reception were very helpful, one guy could talk greek as well. Due to the fact that we had to leave early from the hotel they prepared us a back of food to eat on the train. We suggest this hotel for the price and the quality.

Pretty good hotel indeed. We paid 110E for 1 night, and the hotel was way above my expectations. Our room was very spacious and clean with large tile floors. It had wooden cathedral ceilings and even a nice skylight on the ceiling. It takes about a 10 min walk to St. Lucia train station from this hotel, and the hotel is also close to the touristic walking path. During night the hotel surroundings looked pretty safe. I certainly would go back to this hotel again. This was the best place I stayed at throughout my trips to France and Italy.

Even though it's been about a year since I was there, the kindness of the people at the desk is memorable. They gave us a warm greeting and helped us to the room. When they heard we had an early departure the next morning, they packed us a breakfast to take with! The room we had was quiet with a view of canal that didn't have a lot of activity all hours of the day and night. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much and would stay there again.

This hotel is a wonderful place to stay if you are travelling to Venice. The hotel is located in a quiet area of the island, directly facing the path which runs along the northern bank of the Canareggio canal, and only a hundred meters or so from edge of the lagoon (looking across the Ponte della Liberta toward the mainland). As such it is a beautifully restful part of Venice to be able to kick back and relax when you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the Grand canal and San Marco. It is only a minutes walk to the nearest Vaporetto stop 'Giuglie' and you will very quickly (only a couple of minutes later) find yourself at the railway station terminal on the Grand Canal. From this spot (the Vaporetto boat stop at 'Ferrovia') Venice is your oyster. Man I miss those boat trips up and down the canals!!! The staff were 'extremely' polite and efficient and the room was really lovely. When I go back to Venice, this is definitely where I am going to be staying. They helped make our stay in Venice a truly wonderful experience.

Honestly we could not fault this Hotel (our first time there). It had style, elegance and absolute attention to every detail. Our no 1 bedroom was state of the art with a beautiful bathroom. The staff were just so friendly and helpful. It would have been better if there was a larger dining area for breakfast but it was adequate but breakfast could hve been a little more imaginative. Certainly go there again.

The location on the canal was great and our suite overlooked the canal so it was a great way to start the day. The only comment is that it is betterto haev breakfast downstairs as there is a marginally better choice of food available, although the breakfast is very basic. We only spent three days in Venice but would return to the hotel again.

This was our second visit to Venice and we wanted to do it in winter to see the fog and quietness of the city plus stay in another part of town. We got all of that plus more. The hotel was great and it was exactly as described and pictured on the website. The vaporetti is very close and very easy to access the airport. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated with pristine bathroom. Daniele, the hotel manager, was a pleasure to work with and was very helpful with restaurant recommendations. The night staff speak limited English but not as helpful as Daniele. They even surprised us with a bottle of prosecco since we were celebrating our anniversary. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Venice.

We stayed at Ca Dogaressa in early Sept and found it to be as wonderful as described by most other reviewers! The exterior shots do not do it justice. Highly recommend the junior suites - spacious, private & with terrific views over Canareggio Canal. The roof top terrace is a good spot for enjoying the sunset & breakfast by the canal is a very Venice experience. We found the owners & staff helpful & charming. The location is away from the busier tourist areas. Exploring the canals behind the hotel you can even find yourself alone. Some good local restaurants nearby too. This was our favorite hotel in a 6 week Italian holiday.

Excelente estancia.

Stayed 2 nights in Venice. Suggest additional sightseeing by turning RIGHT from hotel, in direction of Tre Arche bridge, and keep to that direction (turning left brings you to where all the usual action is). We saw wonderful sights and got fantastic photos by turning right. Hotel was great, very beautiful, great location, easy walk from train station. Also short-cut to the Jewish ghetto by turning left from hotel, then left immediately after the Kosher Gam Gam restaurant, interesting shops enroute.

Anyone looking for an inexpensive but high quality hotel in Venice - look no further! Lovely hotel on the canal and all the staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in November and the room rates were very good plus the hotel is only a 10 minute walk from Piazza Roma and even better the airport bus (Alliguna Line) stops practicaly outside the hotel. You may look on the map of Venice and think that this hotel is maybe a bit far from the main attractions but trust me it is in a lovely location and is still no more than a half walk from St.Marks square - a walk I did several times and enjoyed everytime. To summarise - Lovely hotel, great location. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Ca'Dogaressa and when we return to Venice we will stay there again no doubt about that!!

The most beautiful, cleanest and high-tech room in a small hotel, although somewhat away from major attractions. Excellent value. Our only concern is that 100+ lbs beautiful Venice-glass light fixture will fall from ceiling onto our bodies when we sleep.

My husband and I were happy with Hotel Ca' Dogaressa. It was a relief to be within walking distance of the train station after so many hours on planes and trains. The room was a little small, but bigger than others we had in Italy. The room was spotless. I would tell other people to request a room on an upper floor. Although quiet, it was a little awkward having our room next to the front desk. Breakfast was ample and it was wonderful to sit by the canal in the morning watching the local delivery boats and water buses. Paolo and the rest of the staff were very hospitable. Their English was broken, but they were still able to give us directions and a recommendation for a great restaurant.

We stayed for 3 nights in this very nice small family hotel. Room was in perfect condition and well decorated. We were on the 1st floor in the back - so we didn't have much of a view though. Overall a great location in Venice, a bit of the beaten track, but walking distance from everything. Breakfast along the canal in the morning is perfect. Only comment is that the waterpressure in the shower was a bit low.

We absolutely love this hotel. If you are looking for a small, intimate hotel where you can get a feel for what real Venitian life is like this is the place for you. It's off the beaten path in a residential neighborhood but just a couple minute walk to the Strada Nuova and the waterbus stop. Besides this is Venice so practically everything is in walking distance anyway. There are only 7 rooms and Paulo and Gratziella live next door. We strongly suggest that you go for the Jr. Suite. They are a bit pricy but they are worth every penny. They overlook the canal so just open your windows and watch the real Venice go by, not the tourist version. Paulo and Gratziella are wonderful hosts and treat you like family. Breakfast is served at canal side in front of the hotel and there's nothing better than sipping a cappuccino in the morning and taking in the sights and sounds of the real Venice. And when you are done sight seeing for the day you'll find Paulo and Gratziella sitting by the canal talking with friends when you return. As we said this is not a touristy area, this is their home. There are plenty of good places to eat in the area. For a good pizza and a fun and relaxed time just go across the canal on the Tre Arche bridge and come back toward the hotel. It’s the first restaurant you come to. We can't remember the name but you can't miss it. Antica Molla is a really good place frequented by locals, so that says a lot and we stumbled across a place called Ostaria Da Rioba which turned out to be fantastic. It’s kind of a Venitian/nouvelle/fusion cuisine frequented by a lot of the local 20 somethings. For something unusual to do we recommend going to the Casino. It’s just a 10 minute walk. No, it's not Vegas, but it is the oldest Casino in the world and it's where Casanova used to hang out, which takes you back in time and a taste of elegance.

What a wonderful place. It is difficult to think of anything that could be improved. We booked a Double Superior and on the website the room we stayed in (Room 8) is pictured as a Double Classic, to be honest it was so good we didn't care. The whole ambience of the hotel coupled with the enjoyment of a return visit to Venice was tremendous. We will go back again and would recommend to anyone visiting Venice.

Of all the hotels we stayed in for our 2 week honeymoon in Italy, Ca' Dogaressa was the best. We picked it because of the good reviews, and they lived up to our expectations. The room, for 120 euros/night, was excellent and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The location, off a side street, was out of the hustle and bustle and that made a huge difference. When we turned out of the crowds to go "home", it was a relief. Highly recommended -- we will stay there again.
