Allocation unexpected outside the main building. Night portier (reception 23:00 hrs) friendly and competent, could set a small problem at the badroom and arrange a technician for setting properly the morning after. Day ligh reception women unacceptable unfriendly, no education and unable (or unwilling) to deal with customers statements (disaster) both women morning and evening not interested in customer´s complains or need of explanations, not even when claim was done in perfect italian (one of the women seems not to be italian). We selected this hotel because of the garden and living room outside, but missed smoking was allowed in all the spaces, when we are strictly no smokers. Either worst was that often someone was smoking a really stinky cigar so that it was impossible to seat outside under the roof, specially when it was kind of rainning and no way to seat in the middle of the garden. We suggest you urgently need a space for NO SMOKERS in the garden, and/or allow to smoke cigars only in a place in the garden.

The bed in the alcove of the room made it feel very cramped. There was no hot water for any of the three people staying at all. Breakfast was poor and shutters unable to open or close so they rattled all night and kept guest awake. Reception areas very poor.I would never stay there again and do not recommend and am extremely disappointed.

Poor logistics at breakfast, to few and to many staff (guests could easaly serve themselves)to litte space when crowded. No info att arrival about breakfast process, New arrivals at breakfast are quite lost... still a nice hotel in lovely surroundings. Breakfast is a joke if you dont live on cheap buscuits and fruits from a can...

Nice hotel in typical venice-style, tastefully decorated rooms and very clean bathrooms . Perfect location near Academica and the vaporetto-stations Zattere (Line 2 from/to Tronchetto) or Academica (Line 1 and 2). Breakfast is ok, staff correct, but not very hearty.

The small spaciousness of the breakfastroom is very inconvenient and it is very hard to get a place in the morning! the breakfast does not have the standard of 3 stars: it is more than poor: no fresh fruits, no boiled (or suny side up) eggs, only one kind of cheese and ham, old bred resp. panini, no vegetable like tomatos, no fresh marmelade: only in "plastic". In november: the rooms are too cold!!!!

The worst experience in years. We have reserved a room for a family of 5 and got one on the top floor. However, very small room in which it was nearly impossible to move around had an air conditioning system not working. The problem was not fixed, nor different room offered. With hot and humid weather it was very unpleasant to sleep. We had to open the windows but in the morning everyone of us was left with the mosquito bites. Anyway, for 280 Euros for one night you would hope to get a better service. Forget about it in this hotel!

The problem is if your room is in the main building or if it is in the “dependence” that is in front of the hotel in the same street. This is an old hotel ,practically dismantled, with many large rooms inside but the décor is poor, the ambience is sleazy and the installations stale. Absolutely not commensurate to the price. We haven’t visited the rooms in the main building but it looks better

For price, location and friendliness, this hotel was hard to fault.Compared to horror stories I had heard about other hotels in Venice, staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was better than I expected, the rooms were clean and big enough - a family room was comfy for 4 of us. 3 minutes walk from Accaemia on the Grand Canal and 2 minutes walk from the quieter bars and restaurants of Zattere. Would definitely recommend.

Get off at Academia water taxi - take first left and it's up the street. There is a bridge over the Grand Canal at this exit...no need to buy an expensive watertaxi multiday ticket. Room was small but inviting. We had our own shower and toilet. For 25 euro each we attended a concert at Chiesa San Vidal-great!

Overall a good service for the price - very good location! The beds are too short (and I am not 2,35!). but most of all I would criticize the fact that you have to wait for being seated for breakfast and there was a queue since there are not enough tables for the guests - happened for me the first time in a hotel!

Bedrooms are decorated with a romantic Venezian style, however they are small. I would recommend this hotel for couples who travel without children and without massive luggage. Great quality/price ratio. Location is strategic, the hotel is in the Grand Canal at the stop "Accademia" of Line 1, 60 m from the hotel's entrance, taking this line, you will be in Piazza San Marco in 5 minutes or 20 min. I will go back to this hotel.

Great location, owners really take pride in the property though desk staff could be more customer oriented. Coming back to location, perfect location between Dorsoduro which is an extremely charming waterfront and St. Mark's which is a short distance away, safe distance from Rialto bridge and nearby tourist traps. Great, great location. It's also cheap and you get what you pay for - small rooms, basic breakfast and possibly a issue or two. But Venice is meant for exploring, so if you are lucky you'll only be back to shower, sleep or nap. Good bet, recommended.

Our European vacation ended with our 2 night stay at the Belle Arti. When compared to two smaller hotels (Rome and Florence), the Belle Arti fell particularly short in terms of desk help; it simply did not "feel" like the quality of our stay was the most important priority. The "queen" bed we asked for was in fact two twins on a poor frame...not very satisfying:( The location was great and if you are a jazz lover, don't miss the Venice Jazz club. If we travel in Europe again, we will seek out smaller family owned hotels. We were helped so much more in those establishments.

Very good location, just a little bit of the beaten path ...assuming you are willing to walk 10 minutes to go places, which you should be in Venice and most of Italy. Excellent breakfast, best we have had in Italy. We were looking forward to the breakfasts the night before...

Overall, I thought this hotel was a very good value. The rooms were small, but clean and quiet. We loved the courtyard outside the hotel-- it was a beautiful place to enjoy coffee in the morning or wine in the evening. The hotel staff was not very friendly, but were able to answer all of our questions. The location was great...close enough to plenty of cafes and restaurants, but not in the middle of the crowds of tourists.

I will not go back to this hotel. Beautifully located. A fine garden. But I don't sleep in the garden: room extremely small, very narrow, very dark even in the day : a high piece of furniture (?) between the bed and the windows which are themselves hidden behind curtains makes it difficult to read in bed , and at night the lights are very unsufficient: impossible to read in bed but you must sit beside the bed!!! In the bathroom, I must say, everything all right (included the light) . I was in a single room and I wonder if it was not a former broom-cupboard (un ancien placard) transformed into a room. The arrival at the hotel is very nice, but it is less nice spending a few nights there. The staff is polite but rather cold. Moreover no plan of Venice offered when you arrive (you must pay one euro if you want one). And you must sometimes repeat your question to get an answer. And breakfast far from excellent: mediocre caffee (in Italy!), fruit-salad pure canned food, all that in a crowded place. The climatisation is ruled from the bank, so that you must telephone if you wish to modify it! No, I was not satisfied and I woud recommand this hotel to nobody.

Staaff attitude:  "Not my problem". Rooms:  tiny!  Covered (floors, walls, windows, bed) in red and gold fabric--they must have ordered miles of it...every room alike.  Wobbly painted wood furniture, no mini-bar.  Shower didn't drain, even after I reported it. Adult football team practiced on school yard next door from 3:30 until dark.  Tacky plastic flower arrangements in public spaces, also tackier "Venitian" stereotypes (pilings lashed together).  Plastic napkin despensers on the breakfast tables.  More plastic flowers there, and dripping out of "torchiers" out in the portico.  the portico entry and the courtyard are the best things about the place.  Once you are inside, you might as well be in a Holiday Inn...with tiny rooms.

The location is good--between Accademia and Zattere, easily accessible by vaporetto from the airport and the train station; it's quiet; it's a pleasant neighborhood, and you can easily walk to anyplace else in the center of Venice. It's relatively inexpensive--not an incredible bargain, but still. Other than that, it was so-so. The room was no tinier than European hotel rooms often are, but they'd crammed a double bed into it, so there was literally no room for other furniture; when I was in the room I had no choice but to lie on the bed. The shower was iffy, with wild temperature swings and a real danger of being scalded. The breakfast was just barely ok. (My guess is that this is better in season; it is admittedly hard for them to keep a good buffet going for the few people they have in winter.) Two things that really annoyed me: their website promises wifi access. True, but it costs 12 euro a day--more than at most airports! Second, while some employees (mostly the younger ones) were friendly, others were not; they barely listened to questions and did not always bother to answer even when there were no other customers present. (Typical exchange: "Would it be faster to take the vaporetto from Accademia or from Zattere?" No reply. Repeat question. No reply. Repeat question. Bored reply, without looking up: "Yes, you can go from Zattere too." But that's not what I asked . . . )

One point as a suggestion for better service quality: During the breakfast a second machine to produce coffee cups is necessary. As a point of additional customer services is providing and hosting of the coffee machine in the entry hall; not in the breakfats room. I went to Venice in part for business. Communications being essential in my line of work, I was attracted to this hotel because of the Internet access they provide. I was very disappointed to find out that they do not have such access (the staff told me that I needed a modem to connect to Internet through the phone line. This obviously did not work since they could not provide me with an ISP login and password!) The TV remote was broken. It could not be fixed during my stay. I could not work out the phone. For that, I needed a special access code. Most of the staff did not know about this either. Fortunately enough, I found someone who knew. Otherwise, the hotel is very well located. Conversely to what is written on the website, it is more convenient to stop at the Zatterre station from the Piazzale Roma, rather than the Academia station. For the Academia station, you need to change boat at Marco Polo, which is not very practical when you are loaded with suitcases. I could not work out the air conditioning either, but did not really care since the temperatures were decent. I did not investigate this issue. I believe that it should work properly but was probably not turned on. Even though I reserved 5 weeks in advance, the price was quite high (230 Euros). Overall, I was disappointed by the quality/price ratio. I did expect much more from this hotel. For 65 Euros more, the Hilton is a much better choice if you are there for business. Attractive hotel in a quiet area of Venice, only a block from the vaporetto stop, two blocks from waterfront.Clean quadruple room with adequately sized bathroom. 20 minute walk to St.Mark's square and Rialto area. Several restaurants close-by. Continental breakfast was average. Hotel provided a luggage storage room to leave luggage after check-out. Street outside hotel was populated by foreign knock-off sellers with their wares on blankets from sundown until the tourists had all left for the night.

I had a really clean quiet comfortable room. Would have liked a desk, so room was a little small for me, Te breakfasts are not extrodinary, but there is a lot offered and the patio for breakfast or day and evening lounging is fantastic. THe area is quiet but still great museums and lots of resturanusts- I had a great meal at the low key resturaunt next door. I was solo and I felt really comfortable

We have stayed here twice for three nights, January 2006/2007. The hotel is very friendly and the buffet breakfast is excellent. It is in an excellent position for St Marks square and is only 100 yards from the nearest waterbus stop.Well recommended for anyone to explore Venice.

For this time of the year, end of December, a very good place to stay. We enjoyed very much. The hotel covers all basics in a very good way. Surroundings are quiet, peaceful and attractive. The hotel is in nice walking distance to all highlights and to public transport. The rooms are a little small, the bathrooms are only heated from 8pm until some morning hour. Why?

This was the first time my mother and I have visited Venice. It was welcoming to consider the Hotel Belle Arti our home for 3 nights. Although the rooms are small, they are accomidating. The walls are panneled fabric and the fixtures are beautiful Venetian glass - a very nice touch to make our stay feel "authentic". The staff was very friendly and always willing to make cappucino. The location is convenient, with a 10 minute walk to St. Mark's square and 1 minute walk to the Academia Bridge and vaporetto stop. The breakfast buffet allows you to endulge in pastries, fruits, and cereals. I would stay at this hotel again, and again, and again. But because of the size of the rooms, I would only recommend it to travellers who go by two's (or one). Bella, Bella, Bella though!

The Belle Arti is well situated: close to the Accademia bridge (and vaporetto), on the rio terra that cuts straight through the Dorsoduro, so the Zattere stop is also easy to access. The Belle Arti has acquired a smaller building across from the main hotel, and that's where I stayed. The room was beautiful, but tiny: no table or desk of any kind, which as a writer I found frustrating. Breakfast and any other services were across the street, which was slightly incovenient when the weather turned sour. I found the staff to be friendly and knowledgable.

Great hotel; great location to other parts of Venice. The hotel was surprisingly plush, considering the the price,we expected something a bit more austere. The real draw was the location, close to the Accademia Bridge. We loved the closeness to the rest of Venice and the village-like feel of the area.

Property is easily accessible from the Accademia and Zaterre vaporetta stops. Rooms and accommodations were as described on website. Breakfast was abundant with cold meats, cheeses, rolls, cereals, juices, fruits, coffee and tea. All of Venice is accessible by foot from this location. Bathroom is adequate but shower stall is small. Staff was helpful but abrupt and not very outgoing. Garden area is great for unwinding in the overstuffed couches and chairs.

We had a wonderful time in the Bella Arti and would thoroughly recommend a stay here. We travelled with our four children (15 - 7)and booked 2 rooms. The rooms were clean. The hotel was in a fantastic location close to the Academia Bridge. The courtyard was lovely and we really enjoyed sitting down after an exhausting day with a book and a glass of wine. A lovely start to the day was having breakfast outside. The only problem was that we arrived at 10pm tired and hungry and the hotel didnt have any food to offer us and all the restaurants close by close quite early.

You pay simply for a good bed to sleep in as you are touring during the day, right? Well the bed was a disgrace - they definitley need new matresses. And breakfeast was very below average. Besides that everything was fine.

Belle Arti is a very nice and well run hotel. We were surprised by the good standard and location. 3 stars are absolutely not too many. The location close to both Zattere and Accademia vaporetto stops is perfect. The overall atmosphere and the 'garden' is very nice.

Beautiful hotel, especially the common areas. Rooms are clean and well decorated. Small TV, which is the norm. Breakfast was OK, espresso great. Staff friendly but not too friendly. Only complaint is the odor of trash piling in the alleyway. Interestingly, a popular travel personality has his travel groups staying here.

A fantastic hotel, everything we could have wished for for our first time in Venice. Rooms were on the small side and very venetian but very clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was continental style and plenty of it. There was definitly enough to set you up for the day. The best part of this hotel had to be the courtyard/garden! After an exhausting day round Venice it was extremely welcoming with its comfy sofas and chairs, many people were caught snoozing or just relaxing with a book and a glass of wine. This hotel is also easy to find. If you take the number 1 or 82 vaperetta to the Accademia stop, then turn left from the stop and then right up the side of the Accademia Gallery -you will find it - so easy compared to some of the hotels. The price was excellent from Venere half the price of the actual hotel's rates. Try this hotel - you will not be disappointed!

Have stayed here previously, as we did this visit, with groups and friends in multiple rooms. Some of the reception staff are almost impolite. Breakfast coffee is terrible. Rooms are not well-maintained - cracked sink, broken shutter, broken window handle. Yet the price through venere.com was fabulous, considering the location, and we would probably stay here again.

My family with a 4-year kid stayed at Belle Arti for three nights in July in a triple room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent location (very easy access to Academia Bridge and vaporetto on both Grand Canal and circular lines), nice quite surroundings (with excellent restaurant just next door and some other quite close), hefty (by Venetian standards) breakfast, air-conditioning – are among hotel’s advantages. Some may consider red interior of the rooms too aggressive – ask for a room with blue decoration. Very good price/quality combination for Venice. I would come again.

I would not recommend the Belle Arti Hotel to anyone. During July 2006, my family of 5 (3 teenagers) was placed in a room designed for 2. Even though the hotel was relatively new, looks very elegant and conveniently located near the Accademia Bridge, we found our fourth floor room to be unbearably hot - despite the presence of air-conditioning. After wandering around Venice with the temperature at 97 F, we were really looking forward to a comfortable room in which to sleep. The room temperature was way too hot to sleep in comfortably even though the a/c unit was working full time. It did not take a rocket scientist to realize that the room temperature was much hotter than the thermostat indicated (28 C – 82 F) as the a/c was blowing directly on the thermostat. We left the windows open one night, but got bitten badly by insects, so we ended up trying to sleep under wet towels. We complained to the staff after the first night and were told that the a/c wasn’t working because we had opened the windows. After the second night, we complained again and they responded by turning the a/c unit completely off! The room temperature went over 30 C (86 F). For our last night, one of the hotel staff provided us with an oscillating fan which made the heat in the room more bearable. Even though we had temperature problems in our room, we found the temperature in the hallways comfortable and the temperature in the lobby was downright cool - we should have slept in the lobby.

I enjoyed Bella Arti's outdoor lounge with comfy couchs to relax and socialize. The continental breakfast was very abundant with selections of pastries, rolls deli meats and cheeses along with fruit and cereal options. The rooms were decorated very nicely although small but totally adaquate. Location was convenient to walking across Accademia bridge toward San Marcos Piazza and very close(1/2 block) to Zatierre for strolling. We loved visiting the authenic bacaro (wine bar and venitian snacks), Cantinone Gia Schiavi which is just behind Belli Arti on Fondamenta Nani across from the gondola workshop(squero). Bacaros have been a tradition for over 500 years in Venice but this is only one of the 2 authentic ones left. What a gem we stumbled upon!

As a family of 5 we were really surprised when we arrived and they gave us the keys to a room accross the street. We thought we were staying in the Belli Arti but were mislead. We stayed in a building across from the main holtel. The room was very spacious for my family. The Air Conditioning was not that good. On the surface it apeared clean but they neglected the areas under the bed that had not been cleaned for some time. The building we stayed in was not monitored by any hotel personnel and the door to the front was always open. Anyone could walk into this building and they would not be noticed. Safety was a concern of mine. It had poor lighting in the hall ways and stairways to our first floor room. The staff on the other hand were exceptional. The breakfast buffet was outstanding. The location was the best part of the hotel. Very quite and an easy walk to everything. I would stay here again only if I was assured to stay in the main holtel that is monitored 24hrs/7days a week. Beware if you are a family you will be put accross the street.

while the hotel is in a great spot and easy to get to many other areas in Venice. The hotel grounds were very enchanting ina very relaxed setting. The staff was not responsive to the problems with air conditioning. We had reserved 5 rooms and all rooms were hot the entire stay(27C+. When pressing the staff on the issue the answer was aways the same " this is how it is in Italy"

Not the greatest experience with this hotel... On the positive note, the room was clean. The breakfast was included and of good quality. On the negative note... The AC is not controlled in the room, it's controlled at the front desk. We asked for the temperature to be lowered several times and the staff at the front desk just ignored our request. Eventually we gave up, opened windows and had to deal with mosquitoes. During checkout process, they converted total amount in Euro to US $ with a really bad rate (about 5 cents more per dollar. On the receipt, they add a little statement that "I chose to use hotel currency rate, not the credit card rate. I will not dispute the charge, etc." If you do stay in this hotel, make sure you read your receipt carefully, before you sign anything.
