One should understand that Bauer and Bauer Palazzo are "different" hotels (which i did not know till now :)), but the quality is still overpassing the price - we were very happy with our stay there!

At times, there was very poor service and attitude of the staff. Inconsistency of the service spoiled, what could have been a wonderful experience. Also, we thought, that breakfast quality did not matched advertised/given rating of the property. Unlikely to return again in the future.

We returned yesterday after a weekend at the Bauer Hotel. We were lucky to be upgraded to a room with a terrace overlooking the square to the rear of the hotel. Peaceful, yet a stone's throw from St Mark's square. The hotel was refurbished in the '40s and retains the look of that era. The extension to the rear is of the same date, with the front overlooking the Grand Canal being original. The terrace provides a fabulous location for dining. Breakfast is a time to be savoured - the champagne (included) is a nice touch, and a great way to start the day overlooking the Grand Canal. It is worth arriving/leaving the hotel by water taxi. Restaurant prices are high as expected for a hotel of this level, but the taster menue is worth looking at. All in all a great choice of hotel.

The room is nice, staff very friendly and helpful. My highlight is the compliment of the hotel: nice prosecco surprise in the room to celebrate my birthday! Grazie1000!! How very thoughtful :-D

The hotel's location is fantastic - right in the thick of things in a magical city. The room was excellent and the restaurant brilliant; I can't think of a more inspirational place to eat. The welcome, however was poor, with the receptionist answering telephone calls as he was dealing with our booking - not something I would expect in this standard of hotel. The bar staff could also have been friendlier - one got the impression that one was doing them a favour by being in the bar. The restaurant staff were, however, excellent.

Hotel Bauer is in the best location u would want in Venice. The restaurant is a bit out there and very expensive, as with the bar prices. The staff were great and very helpful with all our needs. Hotel Baurer is well worth the stay even though very expensive ,but what isn't in Venice?

Very good stay. Real 5star level. Deluxe room is small but in Venice is the normal way. Warm and friendly welcoming great staff of reception(giorgia guazzaloca on the top). Noisy air conditioning. Situated in the hearth of the hearth of Venice. I'll come bach surely.

The hotel also allows customers access to their computer and internet services. This is a good way to keep in-touch with family back home while vacationing in Venice.

Overall stay was very good. The only disappointment was concierge's choice of dining. They were not indicative of the quality of restaurants Venice had to offer.

The hotel was five-star and excellent stay plus we had upgraded suite so fantastic! However, we had a huge problem with Venere.com because the price on the website was unavailable and we were offered far expensive price. I was surprised that the reply and attitude from venere.com who said they have nothing to do with such failure. If so, what is the point of this website. As I felt this is the best and cheapset website I have ever found from hundreads of other websites, it was a huge shame the venere.com has no responsibility or customer hospitality to site users. Anyway we had very stressful time with this problem but hotel and staff were excellent, so we enjoyed our stay in the end.

What a wonderful stay! The water taxi brought us straight to our hotel. The hotel was beautiful! There is free internet in the lobby which was perfect for me to do my business. We were only a 3 min. walk to San Marco square. Breakfast was perfect! What a great way to start your day in Venice! View across the canal from the hotel was incredible! The staff spoke English well and were very helpful. We checked around different travel sites for the best rate available. Venere.com had the best rate and we saved $100 per night! What a vacation! We can't wait to go back and bring the kids next time.

The Hotel Bauer is indeed a first class hotel. It privided an excellent base from which my wife and I could explore Venice. The location provides many of Venice's top attractions within a 5 minute walk and we found the terrace at the rear of the hotel the perfect place to relax after a day walking around the city. I would highly recommend the Bauer to anyone visiting Venice.

PLUS - The room was clean and tidy and the bed comfortable. The air con was efficient (but noisy). The food was very good with an excellent choice at the buffet breakfast. The view from the terrace whilst dining outside was stunning, I could have sat there for hours. Dinner consisted of some of the finest food I have eaten anywhere in the world. I can't praise the chef highly enough for the quality of the ingredients, the way it was cooked and presented, and the imagination of the dishes. I'm surprised the hotel does not place more emaphasis on the quality of the dining. MINUS - There was a slight mix-up on my arrival with the concierge claiming I had reserved "room only" whereas I told him that breakfast was included. He stated that I would have to pay more, an additional Euros250,if we both wanted breakfast during our 3 night stay. He reluctantly accepted only when I showed my booking confirmation. The room was not as large as I would have expected for the price and there was no view. They should either adhere to their policy of "jackets required in the dining room" or abandon it altogether. There were a number of vistors wearing T-shirts and trainers, whilst others were in jacket and tie, which isn't a problem, but why have a policy concerning dress code if it isn't to be applied.
