If you are in Venice this is the place to stay!! The staff is friendly and attentive and the location is quiet and central. It is located close to Piazzale Roma which is very convenient for transfers to the airport etc. We would highly recommend Allogi Marinella!

Easy to find from bus and train station, comfortable room, friendly and very helpful owners. They very kindly looked after our baggage on last day and checked bus timetable for us. Breakfast adequate but uninspiring. Would recommend to anyone.

Great location within easy walking distance of Piazziale Roma even with cases. Extremely helpful staff. We stayed in a room in the seperate building at the back of the hotel - perfect! ONLY adverse comment is the breakfast which is not substantial and therefore results in 8/10 for price/quality. However, we would definitely return and recommend this hotel to all.

When you arrive late at night at either the train station or by car or airport bus at the adjacent Piazza Roma, it's a big plus when you don't have to drag your luggage through the Venice night trying to find your hotel. For the Marinella you just walk into the corner of P. Roma then cross a bridge following the crowds South for 50 meters or so. Turn right into the quiet oasis that is the filled-in canal street that is home to this lovely little hotel. Get your free Venice map and handy tips from the staff. Like taking the #2 waterbus down to Rialto and San Marco square, rather than the #1 (which is what most tourist books say), as #2 follows the same route but doesn't stop so frequently. Or viewing Venice not from the busy campanille in San Marco square, but from the quiet island opposite, which you can again reach by the #2 waterbus. This tower with spectacular views all round has a handy lift too. Have a simple breakfast in the hotel's lovely courtyard, contemplating another great day in this amazing city.

As a single traveller this hotel was excellent. It was clean, adequate and in a very safe area very close to Plazza di Roma without being too close. The hotel was quite and the ability to let yourself in and out with a front door key kept your stay very private. The staff were friendly and helpful and I felt very much at home. Would recommend this hotel and I would most certainly use it again.

This is an excellent, unpretentious hotel, very close to arrival and departure points. The owner is most congenial and informative about life in Venice. Staff are unfailingly helpful.

The stay here was great! We came in from frankfurt. Our kids came in from Copenhagen and it all worked. They welcomed us and went over the map of venice. We had some lost luggage -they called -several times and helped us track it down. The reception area is not 24 hours but if you request that someone be there -they will be there. It is a lovely area and very convenient to piazza roma -maybe a 5 minute walk. We walked all over venice from this location. If we ever return to venice, we will stay here. Oh and they even suggested some placed to eat which were excellent.

The service provided by Nick was excellent. He was friendly and helpful and gave accurate information to get to places I wanted to visit. I was even allowed to keep my baggage in storage while I travelled to Padova. When I returned to collect my bags it was like returning home. Nick also gave accurate information about transport to the airport which was quick and cost saving. It is a very good place to stay in terms of location and hospitality. I highly recommend Hotel Alloggi Marinella. Thanks to Nick and all the staff for making my stay a fantastic one.

Alloggi Marinella is an outstanding little hotel. On a street (rio) that looks just a bit unpromising (but proves incredibly quiet!) one opens the door to Marinella to find a charmingly and lovingly restored traditional Venetian interior. The garden is a heavenly spot for breakfast, especially when the prolific jasmine is blooming (June) and perfuming the air. It's a short walk to my favorite campo in Venice, Santa Margherita. Nicolo is a lively and exceedingly gracious host. The rooms are kept immaculate. I love this place.

My husband and I traveled to Venice to catch a cruise ship for the Greek Island. We thought it would be a perfect time to spend a few days in Venice. The only complaint we had were the directions to the hotel. We had a very trying travel time, with long lay overs and were very tired, so when we got off the bus and the directions said to cross the bridge, and there were so many bridges. Needless to say, we moved luggage over several bridges that night. Other than that, we loved our room and when we had to change our travel plans we called back from the cruise ship to book another room as quickly as possible. The staff were very helpful. Great location to get around and so close to catch the bus for the airport or cruise ship.

We only stayed for two nights, but this hotel was a find. Nick (one of the owners) was extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was spotlessly clean and in excellent condition. The pictures of the outside do not do it justice. We stayed on the top floor of the main building with a room to the back courtyard. Very quiet for Venice. The garden courtyard was peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast was not large, but it works. The breakfast server was really a sweet woman. The directions could be a little more specific on which bridge to cross!

It is one of the coziest and most pleasant hotels I've ever stayed in. Located on a quiet street (no canals) just round the corner from Piazzale Roma. 5 min. walk to the railway or bus stations, as well as to the vaporetto. Rather far from Piazza San Marco, yet one can reach it in circa 25 min. Staff very friendly and helpful (multilinual). Drawbacks: absolutely disastrous coffee for breakfast!!! walls are not too soundproof either

We chose this hotel for the Venice portion of our honeymoon, and I was very pleased. This was our first time in Venice, and I wasn't sure upon booking how far from Piazza San Marco and the Rialto bridge we really were, but we chose to stay close to the train station to save money and so we wouldn't have to lug our suitcases far. We were pleasantly suprised! The hotel is VERY close to the train station, and was easy to find on a map we had. The welcoming was WONDERFUL....we were welcomed by a younger man, who had alot of energy and was extremely pleasant. Our room was not in the main building, but in back, and he provided us with our own apartment key. He gave us a map of Venice, marked all the vaporetto stops we'd need to take to get to various locations, and he answered any and all questions we had. He brought us to our "apartment" and showed us everything about it. He was always very kind. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the area was very quiet. It was about a 20 minute walk to Piazza San Marco, but to be honest, it was fun! We never took a vaporetto except to get to Murano! Venice truly is a walking city. There is so much to see around you and Venice is so beautiful, I don't think we would have seen half of what we saw if it wasn't for staying in the area we did. We had more fun exploring the streets and various areas than seeing the specific tourist sites. The only downside to this hotel is that breakfast is lacking. I am not comparing this to a "traditionally American" type of breakfast, but to other breakfasts I've had in Italy. This was my second trip to Italy, and out of the hotels I've been in, Marinella has the least to offer for breakfast. But we didn't mind, as we viewed the hotel as a place to sleep. Overall, We were very pleased with our stay, and felt we had a great value for our money, and we would definitely stay here again if we return to Venice.

WARNING!!! Please make sure that you are arriving before 3pm. If you don't, make sure the hotel is aware of this. My husband and I had flight delays and arrived later than expected. There was nobody there to open the door for us. Cell phone communications are nearly impossible in another country so needless to say it was very, very difficult to find a way to get into our hotel. Fortunately, as we were waiting outside the front door, a very nice couple from England that had already checked in were entering their room and assisted us in contacting the owner. Once we were tended to, our stay was fabulous. A nice man name Jacopo arrived to take us to our room. The room was great. The shower is a little bit small, that is my only complaint. I am not a big person and it was difficult for me to fit in the shower. Aside from that everything was very clean and charming. Breakfast was simple, but delicious. On our first morning, Nicolo, assisted us with a map. Please take his advice. He gave us great advice on how to attempt walking all the sights in a day. He was super helpful. The hotel is very easy to reach if you arrive by bus and reasonably close to the train. My husband and I are in our 30's and we were able to walk with our luggage from the train station and Piazale Roma. It isn't close to Piazza San Marco, but we were able to walk there in a reasonable amount of time. One more word of advice....Don't leave your room without a map. I am very good with directions, but without a map you will get lost! It's fine getting lost in the daytime but getting lost at night in some of the back streets can be very frustrating. Definately stay at the Alloggi Marinella, it's a great place to stay!

We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend Alloggi Marinella to others. It was very close to the bus terminal and practically just over the new bridge from the train terminal. It was around the corner from a dry cleaner that will wash, dry and fold a load of clothes for about 20 euro. A good Gelato place and Trattoria Veneziana is around the corner. It's a bit of a walk to the Rialto and S. Marco but I would rather have a short walk to my hotel after arriving with my luggage, then trying to be central and dragging my luggage over all the bridges and streets.

The hotel location is great. It is tucked away on a side street with a quiet courtyard, and yet it is a short walking distance from the bus station, the train station, one of the main vaporetto stations. It was our first time in Venice, and we were able to find the hotel easily from the train station without having to drag our luggage in the maze of Venetian alleys. It was also convenient to get to the bus station in the early hours to go to the airport. The hotel is also a short walking distance to Campo Santa Magherita where we found good places for food and drinks. Our room was clean, quiet and comfortable, worth the price. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nicolo gave us a lot of great local restaurants - delicious, reasonably priced, and not touristy.

We stayed for 3 nights in the double room in the main building up in the attic. It was a very clean & spacious room with everything that we needed. The shower was particularly good, very hot & powerful. The breakfast was a little basic but we were able to eat plenty. We found the staff very helpful and friendly. On our arrival they gave us a map & lots of useful information, like good places to go, which waterbuses to use & which streets to take. It was most informative & helped us make the most of our time in Venice. The location of the hotel was ideal. It was just a short stroll from Piazzale Roma & was in a lovely quiet area. It was also very easy to get to wherever we wanted to go. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and thought it good value for a hotel in Venice. We would stay there again if we return to Venice & will definitely be recommending it to our friends.

This was our first trip to Venice (3 nights). Hotel in ideal, quiet location but easy to get to major sights by walking or boat. Room comfortable and bathroom beautiful, and a good welcome. To help locate hotel from Pzl. Roma bus station: head for the trees, go through walkway to face canal and turn right. Go over bridge with Hotel Arlecchino on your right side, then take next road right (tourist Info Office on corner). If we are in Venice again, we will definitely stay here (but keep it quiet or we won't get in!)

We stayed at a building adjoining the hotel. Each room had an entrance on ground level, a stairway up, and then the bedroom, bathroom and an extra room ("living room"?). So we got a decent deal out of it but we didnt really use the spare room that much. But it just goes to show that this was not a cramped room or anything. Quick assessment: PROs - convenient central location near P. di Roma - very friendly and helpful staff (we left our luggage stored for a full day after checking out whilst we had some spare time before the flight) - adequate breakfast - clean rooms - quiet location in a backstreet from the canals CONs - couldnt quite get the AC to work but this is just a minor gripe Overall, heartily recommended!

The staff at the hotel were very helpful, our plane was diverted from Venice to Milan and a member of staff (sorry have forgotten his name) was waiting late into the night for our arrival. As it turned out we were unable to get to Venice that night and we arrived the next morning. Despite the room being pre booked on the internet they did not charge us for that night. We booked a superior double room which was very spacious and clean. The location of the hotel was good, close to bus/train stations and easily walking distance to the sites of Venice, the hotel is situated on a quiet street and canal so getting to sleep at night was a breeze. The staff provided us with a map, some recommended sites to see and the right places to eat without being ripped-off. Overall a very good hotel and I would stay there again.

After coming out of St Lucia Railway Station we were not sure about the water taxis, as this was our first time in Venice, and the queue was long, so we walked to the hotel. It was OK for me going up and down the 4 bridges with my case but my wife struggled with her case so I carried both cases up and down the 4 sets of steps. If you have large cases the water taxi is a must. It was about a 15 min. casual walk. A brand new bridge has been built linking the station with the bus terminal, but was not operational. Once this is open, the walk will be easy. Nick was there to greet us at the hotel and showed us to a lovely 2-bedroom unit in a separate block at the back of the hotel. The buildings were over 100 years old and the rooms had been very tastefully renovated and decorated to rival any 5-star hotel including the bathroom. The hotel is not very central for St Marks but there are water taxis down the Grand Canal, and you can purchase a daily ticket, though we preferred to walk. On our way to St Marks we ‘discovered’ Campo Santa Margherita not far from the hotel with a large choice of inexpensive restaurants and bars. This was a great place to eat in the evening. We were departing Venice via Ryanair from Treviso airport. The bus station, Piazzala Roma, literally a 2-min. walk from the hotel, has special buses just for the Ryanair flights. As we had an early morning flight this was one of the main reasons for choosing the hotel, but the hotel offered us much more than we expected. The only down-side was the breakfast - for the price there should have been more choice!

I stayed in Venice for 5 days and found that Marinella is the perfect spot for a vacation. It is situated close to the railway station which makes it easy to reach with your luggage. Also, it is a perfect place to start your trip to Venice. I always try walking to San Marco from here which is a typical Venetian travel mode. The staff here are real friendly and nice.(infact one day I found they had cleaned my table which I always leave so messy, and arranged everything properly). The rooms are a little small, but it should be ok, if you are single/couple/small family. You can't find anything at this price. They serve breakfast everyday in the morning which is really nice. You can also ask the staff if you need some tips with your travel, they'll be happy to help you. There are some restaurants close to the canal which is pretty decent, but if you want better service you should go closer to the Accademia bridge. There is also a Coop supermarket in Piazza le Roma (about 10 mins walk). Here you can find boxed pasta, veg and fruit salads etc. Overall, Alloggi Marinella is a perfect place to stay in Venice for a decent price.

The hotel staff were friendly and gracious. Our room was larger than what I have experienced in other Venice lodgings. My only concern was at night - having to step over someone who was asking for money in front of the archway leading to rooms behind, I did not feel quite safe, although to be fair, that may have happened anywhere in the city.

This hotel was GREAT!! No kidding, 1-2 minute walk from the Piazzale Roma (the center of transportation of the island, buses, water busses etc) and more importantly only 1 bridge from the Piazzale Roma! The rooms were clean and quiet and I even got airconditioning and a large bathroom that was immaculate. I had friends (who could afford it) stay on the grand canal and pay over 200 euro a night but got no sleep because of the constant noise and traffic! This hotel was very close in proximity to EVERYTHING! yet on a quiet street. Purchase a 1,2, or 3 day public transporattion ticket and ride the vaporetto (local water buses) all along the grand canal as well as the surrounding islands of Murano, Burano, Lido. The vaporettos and the local busse( to and from the marco polo airport, Venezia mainland etc) all originate from the Piazzale Roma which is a 2 minute walk from this great Hotel! I intend on telling everyone about this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat! I would add one thing if I could and that would be internet access, but being on an island thousands of years old, it's not a must-have!

This was the best hotel we stayed at in Italy. (we stayed at 4) From the very beginning the staff was great! Our room was perfect. We were out-back behind the main hotel in a sort of apt. feeling suite. It was a beautiful bedroom, clean bathroom and a sitting area. Plenty of space. The bed was so comfortable, and it was just beautiful! Breakfast varity wasn't that great, but we didn't even care.

Great location if what you're looking for is quiet. Location is very convenient (near Piazzale Roma), but since it's not on a main canal there's no crowd noise. Very helpful English-speaking front desk staff, but the front office normally closes at 3 PM daily, so it's best to notify them of your arrival time. Even if you plan to arrive before 3, it helps them to know. We arrived about noon and our room was already ready for us. There's no lift, but some of the rooms are ground floor rooms so let them know if you're unable to climb stairs.

Friendly staff, centrally located, good area, quiet, a virtually new unit within an old building. Noise travels from room above so noisy neighbours could be a problem. Apart from that, the room was very quiet with virtually no external noise. Continental style breakfast (with a few cereals offerings) is limited and simple, but sufficient. Ask owners where to eat to avoid the usual tourist traps. Other: tips for first time visitors to Venice – 1. Get a map with ALL street names. 2. If lost (which is a virtual certainty), follow the large Yellow Signs which direct you to the 3 main bridges and you will quickly get back on track. 3. Have a gondola ride and share with some other people to keep the cost down. We found that we could get a 40 minute ride by sharing with another couple for 50 Euro (while not necessary, we gave a 5 Euro tip because our gondolier chap was so friendly, informative and “picture worthy”). That gave us 10 minutes longer than we had planned and 25 Euro less than we budgeted. Consider whether you want a “backstreets” gondolier ride or the more metro area – they tend to operate in distinct zones, so choose a zone then find the gondolier parking space. Consider earlier in the morning before the daytrip crowds arrive (we went at about 0930 which was ideal). If you can, consider an hour … 40 minutes went by very quickly.

The hotel is in a very quite location. The staff stays until 2 pm. So if you arrive late, you have to email them to make arrangement. The room although small, it is very clean. Everywhere is spotless. Will definitely stay in this hotel again. But they can do a better job in describing how to get to their place accurately.

Reasonably-priced for Venice, 5 minutes walk (with steps) from Piazzale Roma and 10 from the railway station. Convenient for vaporetti (from P. Roma) and for walkng the city (S. Marco about 20 minutes). The hotel is in a mainly residential area, the street once a filled-in canal (a 'rio terra') so very wide. Rooms are smallish but very clean. Staff are friendly and helpful, but only on the premises from 8 to 3 (unless they are expecting guests). There is a mobile number for emergencies only. You are given main door key and room key to keep with you (as well as a safe key) so taking a keyring is a good idea! Breakfast is one fresh croissant and biscottini/packeted pastries/biscuits etc. There is also cereal and juice, and fresh fruit. Coffee is good. There is a small, grassed garden area which leads onto a larger, shared grassed courtyard. This hotel offers a reasonable and convenient base for a stay in Venice.

We were accommodated in what we would describe as an apartment since it had two rooms. Very nice but located in an annexe at the other side of the garden in what seemed to be recently converted outbuildings. We had not been told in advance that this would be the arangement! It had it's own private paved "garden" area which would be very pleasant in much warmer weather. We did'nt realy see any of the bedrooms in the main body of the hotel. Breakfast area small but adequate.Food and service quite satisfactory. No significant communal lounge area.Staff very pleasant and friendly.

Could not fault the hotel in any way. Location is fantastic, being so close to Bus terminal. Staff were very friendly, offering helpful advice if needed. I will be recommending this hotel to all family/friends, and would certainly use again on our next visit to Venice.

We had a great stay here. The hotel is very convenient to the bus station - it's nice not to have to drag your luggage all over Venice to get to your hotel. I'm not convinced that the air conditioning actually worked, but besides that, everything was good.

Showers were a bit on the small side; typical Americans may have some difficulty. Besides this, the rooms were a good size--had to collapse bed in triple (sleeper sofa) in order to have more room. Breakfast was what one would expect for a continental breakfast. Location was superb, but suggest more clear directions on how to reach--when being dropped off via bus at Piazza de la Roma can go over wrong bridge as we did; may want to give name of bridge to cross. Staff were friendly, had someone there to meet us in reception after closing hours. Would definately stay there again; would definately recommend hotel to friends--great value for money.

L’albergo dove soggiorno era completo. Per caso ho trovato Marinella in sito Venere. Soggiorno spesso a Venezia e soggiornerò sempre agli Alloggi Marinella. The hotel where I usually stay was full. By chance I found the Marinella on the Venere website. I often spend time in Venice. In the future I plan to stay only at the Marinella

We stayed in Venice for five nights and the hotel met our standards. The location was excellent; a little off the beaten path but with easy walks to all the sights and the proximity to the train station was a real plus. Very simpatico.

Dont be put off by the slightly uninspiring exterior - this was a really good quality hotel in an excellent poistion. We did have problems finding the hotel - although not far away from the bus station, we could not work out which direction to set off in and did a slight detour (recommend a compss which you might find useful generally for Venice).

We were warmly welcomed, given a tour of the property and room, shown how things worked and details about breakfast. We were also given an excellent orientation of the area and easy ways to get around Venice with recommendations for short cuts through wonderful neighborhoods to inexpensive restaurants, and to the major tourist sites and museums. It was like visiting a secret Venice with a secret garden. Handy to the train station, in a quiet area, with a spectacular room and very generous breakfast. Marco is an excellent host.

Very clean and spacious room with great bathroom & shower. We had a nice private room with small yard. Good location, quiet and away from all the craziness of the tourist area, but not too far. We had trouble finding it and called, they were kind enough to meet us and show us the way. Would stay here again.

The Alloggi Marinella is a wonderful small hotel close to both the train station and bus depot. Despite this, it is on a quiet side street. We had top floor room (#6 I believe), which had beautiful wood beam ceiling and view of the roof tops of Venice. The staff was wonderful, friendly , and extremely helpful. Of all the hotels we stayed in on our two and a half week trip in Europe, this was our favorite. It is also a good value.

Nick and Daniel are both excellent hosts and are very helpful. They run this small hotel with great competence. I felt right at home. They went out of their way to help me and others feel comfortable. They were also very willing to provide us with all the information we needed to make our stay a success. Also, Eric was kind enough to provide me with a cup of tea when I came in from a long day of sightseeing. That was very appreciated. I would definitely recommend this lovely small hotel to my friends and relatives. I wish them all the success in the world. Carl W Lowry

After researching all the hotels, I was a little worried about getting decent accomodation in Venice. It seems like we need to pay alot of money to get a half decent place - as it is peak season and the hotel rates are just high. The double superior room we got in Allogi Marinella was worth the money we paid for. It had a little living room, great toilet and even a backyard where we ate some grapes and salami, enjoying a late afternoon drink. While it maybe just a bit expensive, but it made our first trip to Venice a great one. The classic/rustic ambience coupled with modern facilities definitely rawked! It made us feel like we were really living in Venice.

We spend two nights in Alloggi Marinella in the middle of September, as part of a longer trip throughout Italy. This was our last stop, and we were happy to find this was by far the nicest place we stayed. The room was a superior double, and it consisted of a bedroom, separate sitting room, and a bathroom. The shower stall was pretty small, but that's the only thing that can even come close to a negative comment. The room was beautiful - clean, quiet, and everything as advertised. The people were most helpful as well. I highly recommend this hotel!

The breakfast provided is quite good and lasts a convenient amount of time, for days we rose early or late. There are both nice restaurants around the corner and a grocery store nearby. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, one of the nicest places we stayed on our trip. I will definitely keep them in mind if I return to Venice again. It was also very nice to have two separate spaces as we were two couples sharing the 'room'.
