Stayed 4 nights in Venice. Wanted a central hotel at a reasonable price - Alla Campana was excellent. A gentle 2 minute walk to the Rialto, and 3 or 4 mins to St. Marks. Staff very helpful. Alla Campana is a restored townhouse with a small dining room used for breakfast only, no other public rooms. Bedroom and en suite not big but perfectly adequate and spotless. My wife is coeliac and was presented on arrival with a bag of gluten free breakfast cereal and crackers a nice touch. We will stay there again.

The hotel itself was not hard to find, but you don't check in at the hotel--you have to go to another hotel to check in which was very difficult to find. There were directions posted outside Alla Campana, but they were obviously written by someone who already knows where they are going! We had a bedroom below the breakfast room which got very loud early in the morning. The room was small and clean and in a very convenient location near Rialto and St. Marks. The staff was friendly. We were happy they had unlimited coffee in the breakfast room.

To get to teh hotel and check in, you first have to go to another hotel that is completely out of the way and UNMARKED! Could you please use some signage??? This involves dragging your bags over a few bridges and hunting for street signs. DO THIS DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS!!! The front desk staff could really care less about the difficulties finding them as is typical in Italy. No customer service at all and they really don't like tourists. You are then shown to a rather shabby but very clean hotel with it's own door, which is nice, on a well travelled street, which is nice, that is a direct path from Rialto to Piazza San Marco which is also nice. Hard to get lost. The room itself was shabby like the hallway and had really old, damaged, sloped terrazzo floors. What do you expect for a 500 year old building? It had a historical quality to it's lack of restoration. It was very spacious for an Italian hotel and the bed was much softer than the other places we stayed in Rome and Venice. The bathroom was a good size and I liked the shower very much. The breakfast room was great. The breakfast was good. Watch out for sleeping with open windows... mosquitos. Some noisy revelers but not as bad as in some other areas. Forget TV, only CNN in English. No computer access and not sure about wifi. The other guests were European, from Switzerland, Belgium, Germany. The nearby restaurants and bar/caffes are a total rip off, excepting my fave, The Mosquito which is like a little english pub. Great pannini. In one of the others, 5 doors down on the right as you head toward san Marco, 2 chinese brothers charged me 10 Euro for a short beer, roll and 2 pats of butter. 1 Euro each for the butter. 5 for the beer. 1.5 for the roll. 2.5 for the pleasure of sitting there. Watch out for that in Venice!! The bar/caffe/restaurant folks almost unanimously were disdainful of tourists and happy to relieve me of ridiculous amounts of money for very little product and worse

The hotel is very well located, clean and the general appearance of the hotel is an authentic venetian house back in times. It is a little bit hard to find but this is because the streets are quite similar. Generally, I have no negative comments, I've enjoyed my stay and I am satisfied from the price/quality relationship.I strongly recommend this hotel because of its convenient location, nice staff and perfect neatness.

The room was actually very cute, but you had to climb a lot of stairs to get to it. It was sort of a pain to check in one place and then go back to the room in another location, but all in it was a very nice room, the staff was very very helpful and nice. The noise is terrible but hey it was Venice I don't think you are going to find many rooms where you are going to be noiseless. I would stay there again, just wish there was an elevator.

got to hotel there was a note on the door to tramp with all luggage to another location to book in and get key and then tramp back. would be better if in email confirmation they told you where to go FIRST to get key and THEN go to where hotel actuallay is. however compared to most venetian hotels in this category they are very helpful and friendly. most unusual in venice. not enough blankets.

We were very happy with our accommodation at Alla Campana. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. The hotel is well-situated for sight-seeing - a quick walk to the Rialto bridge and St Mark's square. We were very greatful for the detailed directions we received to get to the reception - they were indispensable!

The price was higher than for other cities, but this was VENICE! The location was so wonderfully close to St. Mark's and Rialto. We were able to see everything so easily and not get lost. This hotel was a few minute's walk from the check in desk, at another hotel, but we could phone the desk. Had to take our luggage up and down steep stairs at the hotel. The room was large, and very nice, clean bathroom. The room was noisy in the AM when lots of people were walking by outside on the busy street, but it was fun to watch. The only public room was the small breakfast room. Breakfast not as much selection as other hotels. I would definitely stay here again, as the location was superb.

Quaint little hotel that's right next to San Marcus and close to all the higher end shops and the Rialto stop. Hotel comes with a waterjet bathtub, which can only be run from 7:30 am to 12 MIDNIGHT. The only reason I mention this is because the english version of the sign says that you can only do it from 7:30 am to 12 Noon but they actually mean midnight(from the Italian instructions which give the time in 24 hr standard instead). One other thing to note is that they will send you instructions on how to get to the hotel from the train station. The one thing I want to caution everyone is that when you get to the Foot Locker, you're supposed to turn RIGHT, not left. Great hotel and location and definitely worth the price paid.

The location of this hotel is great. It is right between Rialto and St. Mark's square, a five minute walk to each. The room was clean, and the breakfast was simple, but adequate. The air conditioning worked well, which is a must in Italy during the summer. We would definitely stay there again.

We arrived late on Friday evening. Orientation in Venice can be challenging if it's your first time visiting. I was disappointed to see a sign on the door to go to another B&B to check in. That information can easily be added to the confirmation message we received since it is standard practice for check-in. If you need complete silence to go to sleep and plan to go to bed before 1:00 am, I would caution you that this is on a continuously traveled street and it's somewhat noisy. The same thing happens around 8:00am.

Brilliant Hotel. Kind of strange that the reception and our room were in different places but it didn´´t make a difference. The staff were AMAZING! So helpful and concerned about us. The room, 105 in La Campana, was amazing! It was spread over 2 floors and had a veranda. Gorgeous. Very Harry Potter. We LOVED LOVED LOVED this hotel.

great location easy access to everywhere, do your homework and work out the location based on their instructions on a street map before you get there and you will have no problems finding it. easy access from airport to Rialto by the Aliluguna. if street noise and stairs are a problem you maybe should look at a 5 star. highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent location, good service although the reception was in a different hotel to where we stayed. Room was the largest we have stayed in in Italy and extremely clean but was next to the breakfast room so qite noisy first thing in the morning. It was located in a small alley which was also quite noisy.Overall a nice room in a great location and a reasonable price for Venice.

Hotel Alla Campana is located in the heart of Venice, between San Marco and Rialto bridge. So You can reach all sights in a few minutes by feet. We had to check in at Hotel RESIDENZA CA’ SAN MARCO near by, but this was not a problem. We got an excellent description of the way to the hotel, so that it was easy to find the inconspicuous hotel in the narrow. We stayed there for a long weekend in August. I would recommend the hotel to everybody who is not focussed on an excellent breakfast but wants to stay in the middle of Venice and pay a moderate price. The web site of the hotel describes it correct.

The hotel is in a great location for tourists - between San Marco and Rialto. The room was quiet and clean, and the bathroom was probably the nicest of my two week tour of Italy. The staff was very friendly. There is no lobby, though, so if you need some space outside of your room, you're out of luck. That didn't matter to me, though.

This was our first time staying in Venice and at the Hotel Alla Campana. We are a couple that stayed for 3 nights. The room was extremely small and for 2 persons in a double room it was uncomfortable as the bed took up basically the entire room. In order to just squeeze by the bed, my partner had to put the chair in front of the door. Also the bathroom odor had a constant scent of a sewer even after the housekeeper attended to the room. The air conditioning system's filter requires changing because we both became ill over this during our stay. To end our last day in Venice, we wanted to take a guided tour around Venice and the receptionist pointed us into the direction of a travel agency that was around the way from the hotel where we received extremely unacceptable, poor service, so we left very unhappy with how we were ignored. I felt personally that our Receptionist should have been more helpful with providing more options. Overall, I would not stay at the Hotel Alla Campana again for a stay of over 1 night. This is due to service and the type of room we received of course.(The above comment is from my partner (Clayton Channing)so he has given authorization to display his name. Currently a Revenue Director; he's a 27 year veteran of the hotel industry and pays very close attention to detail in any hotel regardless of price.

Had a very enjoyable long weekend. Quite central to explore all areas of Venice either by foot or Vaperetto. Near to the Rialto Bridge but a little difficult to find. Take the Vaporetto from the Plazza Roma (to the left of Bus Station) to the Rialto Bridge. Walk a few yards south on the east side of the Grand Canal and turn left in to Calle Bembo (a little set back) walk about 100 yards in to Calle Di Fabri and Hotel is about 50 yards on left. Check in is at sister Hotel about a further 30 yards on left,Hotel with Pink Door Shade. Have a nice time. We would go here again.

Location could not have been better, so near both the Rialto Bridge and San Marcos square. Check in "down the street" was a little inconvenient but we received excellent attention. There was no public room except the breakfast room. We enjoyed overlooking the street and the business of the pedestrian traffic below. We would stay here again if ever back in Venice.

Room was small but functional as a bedroom with onsuite. Breakfast plain but adequate. Perfect base for discovering city, may have been a pain if we had had suitcases but it was only a few minutes from the rialto stop. It was a little confusing when we arrived because you have to go to another hotel to register ( go by house number to that hotel and they will walk you to where you are staying ).

We enjoyed our stay, and have recommended it to others, and will stay there again. As someone else mentioned in their feedback, the hotel isn't actually the Alla Campana, that hotel is just a few doors down, so go and check in there and they will let you into your building. The rooms are clean and tidy, the bathrooms were a good size. The staff friendly and the Hoteliers spoke good English. The location is great - just a short walk from the RIALTO water taxi stop, and a short walk to Saint Mark's Square (San Marco). The icecream shop a wee walk down towards San Marco was the cheapest - and the most delicous. And the Mask shop on the same street also turned out to be the best value for money too!!
