This hotel met my expectations, which were not high. I needed a room for only one night, and this was the perfect location. I was very pleased to have free Wifi. But everything else was quite bare bones, The towels did not feel like they had been washed well.

Excellent location if you go to Venice by train, close to the station and to the main waterbus lines, at the end of the "strada nova" route from S. Marco to the railway. Venice is expensive, therefore I found the price acceptable. Suggestion: avoid chinese restaurants, choose real italian cuisine!

Hotel Adua was a wonderful find. It is within easy walking distance of the train station and vaporetto stops. However, it has no elevator so hauling heavy post-cruise suitcases up the long staircase to the second floor was somewhat difficult. The owner's wife greeted us and was very helpful with city information. Her suggestions made our 2 night stay especially wonderful! We would definitely stay here again!

+ Very comfortable clean room with a window overlooking the green terrace. Design is nice. Room is warm, quiet. Convenient location. Near the station, a restaurant, a vaporetto station. - Our room appeared to be in a separate building near the hotel. Wi-fi does not work there. To use wi-fi we had to sit in the narrow corridor of the hotel. Shared bathroom. Though there are 2 spacious enough bathrooms, they were occupied sometimes. To get to the room you have to climb the narrow stairs.

Very basic accommodation. Central location and reasonably priced, but in future would pay a little extra for more comfort. Room was off a side alley away from the main hotel entrance and offered a bed, sink and a shared bathroom that was clean and adequate. Great for budget accommodation without frills, but not good if you intend to spend much time lazing/relaxing in your room.

The lady who ran the place was WONDERFUL!! The bathroom was strange as it had no towel rack or shelf to put toiletries. You had to throw the towels over the shower which is a bit ridiculous. There was no toilet paper holder so the paper sat on the floor. These are little conveniences that would have made the stay a little more convenient and would require very little expense on their part. They were wonderful about doing our laundry. The main difficulty was the stairs!! This was unexpected and very difficult for my mother who is 87 years old.

This hotel was exactly what we needed during our stay in Venice. We arrived by train and it was an easy walk from the station. The staff were helpful and allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel after we had checked out which was very convenient for us. The room was clean and bright. It was noisy as it looked out onto a busy throughfare but that was to be expected and didn't trouble us unduly. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Grand Canal and all the amazing places to visit that venice has to offer. There are lots of places to eat nearby and supermarkets for picnic food. Highly recommended.

I must commend Rosella, one of the two women we met working at Hotel Adua. She was helpful and thoughtful beyond all expectations. We felt treated as friends, not as travelers passing through. Our room was comfortable and quiet, down a little alley off its busy, touristy Lista di Spagna street address. The shared bathroom served only 3 rooms and was always available when needed. Ciao Rosella and Hotel Alba! Mille grazie for your welcome.

The hotel is in a good location, not far from the train station and main water bus station and about a 20 minute walk to st. Marcs sq. Very near to a cafe/ restaurant which had a cheap buffet area, good for backpackers wanting to eat on a budget. We were staying in a seperate block to the hotel where our room was situated at the top of two flights of stairs with no lift. Could hear people in the corridors easily. We were given 3 keys, one for the main door which was very difficult to open.

Easy to find near train station, staff was friendly, triple room had one large and one small bed, not a cot. Air conditioning was satisfactory in the August heat. The hotel fronts on a busy street, so you will get some noise if the windows are open to the street. The shower was cool at 6 am, but warmed up by 7:30 or so...but then, if you're an early riser like me, you probably like cool showers, too. We did not take breakfast, so I cannot comment on that.

Very good stay. Room was not in main unit, but next door. Windows faced an upper courtyard and were quiet. Very convenient to the train station. Only a few blocks from station. This is important as you could walk a long way with your luggage, and their are no taxis in Venice, and the water taxis are expensive. Had some weird asians yelling in the next room, but that certainly wasn't the fault of the hotel. Venice is great, and don't even consider missing it. It wasn't particularly hot, but it was nice to come back to an air conditioned room to cool off after walking.

If you can find a hostel instead, I'd recommend that. This place was very old and very simple, if that doesn't bother you then you may be fine here. It just feels like you're staying at somebody's grandmother's outdated house, the staff was about as helpful as could be expected but there wasn't a whole lot to the place. You will more than likely not be staying in the main building, but behind it in some strange alley. Also, close your windows immediately upon arrival because the mosquitoes are terrible, I and my 3 friends are still covered in bites days later. Basically, if you are just looking for a place to sleep it's tolerable, but I will not be back.

The hotel is at the top of a long flight of stairs which makes hauling luggage from the train station to the room labour intensive. I was "greeted" by the man at the desk dubiously as though he wasn't expecting anyone. He answered phones and talked to other people during the check in process as I waited for fifteen minutes for him to copy the passport information. The room was small (no problem) and not particularly clean. The towels were somewhat like dishrags. We booked hotels through this service for Rome, Venice and Florence. This was the most expensive and the least desirable. No internet, no breakfast, no friendly staff, no service, no cleanliness. But it's in Venice.

I had a room for 3 people and a bathroom zu share. There werde 2 bathrooms on the floor, but to share from many people - because of 3-bed-rooms and 4-bed-rooms - I guess there were 4 or 5 rooms. It wasn't possible to shower or to go to toilette in the morning and in the evening. Because most of the time the bathrooms were used of many people from all the rooms! And there were young people who stayed for a real long time in the bathrooms. It was horrible. I think, it's maybe ok for a group of friends or for singles, but not for a family!

Adua is well positioned, about 5 minutes walk from the station and on a street with plenty of restaurants and shops. It gave us exactly what we required; a 4 bed room for our teenage sons and a double room for us. Both rooms were a decent size and (bliss in August) air conditioned. We were in the annex, a building next door to the main hotel, but this was no problem, as all we wanted was a place to sleep. Toilets and showers were shared between the 5 rooms in the annex, and this posed no problems. Breakfast was not provided, but as the position was excellent, it's not far to find food. We were all very pleased with our choice of hotel.

We have been 42 days in Europe and this accomodation was our biggest disappointment. The photos appeared to be great but after being shown a room out of the original building, 32 stairs up, I tried to think positively. Maybe we had a bargain. However I checked surrounding properties and found much better accomodations at equal prices. If we go to Venice again, I will try to find a nicer place to stay.

We had a very good time in Venice Adua Hotel. The hotel is based in within reach of both the train and bus station which is extremely important if one has an early flight as you are all aware there is no real way of traveling fast. I would recommend it to couples and young people as there is a bit of climbing to be done to reach the reception but as soon as you are in you are met by a pleasant and helpfull face, at least one of them speaks more than 3 languages so it is relatively easy to get help and directions if you need them. The hotel is basic but well maintained and clean; overall we enjoyed our stay and we would come back again.

On the front of the building one of the shopping and restaurant streets from Venezia was available and it was only 2 minutes from the train station, which was great, because else you have to walk over several bridges and stairs, so location is perfect.

Venice is indeed very expensive. Hotel Adua is an exception if one can abstain from comfort. One have all one need - not more. We've occupied a room for 4 persons. Toilet and shower are on the floor. Breakfast outside the hotel is so expensive as it is probably in the hotel. For a capuccino, a pannini with butter and jam plus an orangejuce we've payed in the near of the hotel 9 EUR per Person! Please be aware that in addition to the declared prices in the restaurants you have to pay 12-15 % for service plus a couple of EUR cover charge. Ask the waiters to avoid bad surprises. All things considered: Venice is allthough worth to stay a couple of days! I'll be there once again during carneval.

We are a family with older children. The couple that received us in the hotel was really very nice and friendly, giving good advice about Venice and it's hidden ways. At first, we were worried about staying in a room without a private bathroom, but we had no problems at all. Although the hotel was full, we had at last, for the first and only time in our long journey, two bathrooms available for our family of four!!! Both very clean. We stayed in another building, in a room with two windows opened to the main street, but it was silent to sleep (and we sleep earlier than most turists).

We never even saw the other guests. Quiet. Convenient and walkable location near train station and nice area with shops and restuarants. We took a bus from airport and then easily walked here. Close access to water taxis and even to walk everyhere, which is the best part of venice. Nice place, and a wonderful value in an otherwise expensive city. The place was better than we expected, particularly after reading a previous review about bedbugs. Mosquitos certainly, as there were no window screens, but the beds and bedding were extremely clean. Also, it turned out that they would take credit cards, despite the notice to the contrary in reception.

The hotel is easy to find, even in the dark, being only 2 minutes' walk from the station. All the receptionists were helpful and exceptionally friendly. The rooms which share a bathroom are in the building next door to the main hotel, which means heading down an alley that ends in the Grand Canal - all adding to the Venetian charm. The bathrooms are clean, if a little past their best; the room was big and clean, and looked out onto the street, which certainly sustained the impression of being at the heart of things. Breakfast is not included in the price, and is definitely not worth paying for. A hint for first-timers in Venice - you need to buy a vaporetto season ticket to cover your stay.It might look expensive, but single fares cost €6.50, and you'll be surprised at how many rides you need to take during a day. We had a great time, and would certainly recommend the Adua for its price, convenience and for the welcome given by the staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms to the front (street) are noisy, rooms to the back / side quiet.

Good for traveling students but not great for families. Friendly staff and good location. The hotel is right next to the train station so you can get to Venice and go to your hotel. It is also right next to the taxi/ bus boats so you can get to the good sites really fast. However the rooms are small and if you can't carry your luggage up to second floor from a very tight stairs, then you might want to look elsewhere. Also, for the cheap price you see you should also have low expectations. This hotel is more like a American motel.

Stayed there for 2 nights in May 2009 for the price of euro80/night for twin sharing without shower facility. We were brought to the next building (have to go through the scary back alley ) instead of the main building. They do not have lift and we have carry our luggage through 2-storey of staircases. The balcony was filthy, room was clean (4/10) and very small.

Excellent central location near the train station. Rooms were very, very small but clean and comfortable. Shared bathroom facilities were small but adequate. I would recommend this hotel for short stays only, as I expect the cramped space would become frustrating after a while. Apart from that, very good value for money.

This was our first stay at Adau and we found it to be adequate. Rooms with added outside bathroom must realise that, that bathroom is not just for their private use, as the rooms with no bathrooms has to use them as well. Location was great. All in all 3very pleasant days

We had originally booked a quad room which would have been in the secondary building, but when our hostess saw all of us huffing and puffing after hauling our luggage up the staircase she immediately offered us a room in the main building. Our hostess was very helpful and we both really tried to communicate using a broken mix of Italian and English. She even let me use her computer one day to try to find information on an attraction. Overall, a great stay and a great value for venice. Wonderful location! I can't comment on the other building in which we would have stayed, but I've heard it's not great, so I'm glad we stayed in the main building.

As in most of Venice, our room was small as was to be expected. It had a balcony with no view and used by owners for drying hotel linens, sometimes limiting privacy. The street was very busy and sometimes noisy at night. Also, there were steep stairs to our rooms on the higher level(no elevator). We were there during Easter weekend and the prices were higher. However, this hotel has an excellent location, was clean, safe and an oasis in hyperactive Venice.

We didn't actually stay in the building we were booked. We were led to a nearby one to stay, but it was perfectly fine.

The hotel is near the train station. Very easy to reach and locate. Staff is nice and city map is available. The room is clean but a bit noisy. This is the price of staying in convenient area.

Good price for a good location. The Adua is just minutes away from the train station in a bustling part of town. About a 15 minute walk to Saint Mark's (if you don't get lost!) Room and bathroom both very clean. We were pleasantly surprised that our double room had a small balcony that opened up over the main road (do you call them roads in Venice?) Night manager was very friendly and helpful in recommending places to eat and drink.

Very clean, pleasant room with balcony overlooking lively street with bars/cafes. A little noisy and lack of fresh air due to position of room. Flight of steps leads to small reception.

The Hotel is located in a very good position, around 4 minutes walk from the train station. This is very important especially during high tide period, when many streets in Venice are flooded. We would like to say thanks to the hostress of the Hotel cos she reminded us about the flood in the street, and borrowed us the boots so that we can walked around Venice without worry about the water. You probably do not want your newly brought pair of expensive shoes to be soaked in sea water.

There are two separate wings, so I was taken to a different place down another alley. It was quieter there and seems a little more run down. Also, the heater was not working to well, so things got a little cold...

we loved the location! it was very near the train statiion. we did not choose a location near the main square because it would definitely be expensive. this location was ideal because we arrived late and had only one night in venice and we checked in right away, saw the sites and did not waste too much time looking for the hotel. the room was small but cozy. amenities were complete and bathroom was okay.
