Hotel Cristallo - Varazze

I stayed in a double room/single use. I found the furnishings very dated. Only a rubbish bin in the bathroom. Overall a bit depressing. carpets in public areas very threadbare. Atmosphere in restaurant was impersonal.

Cristallo is probably the best out of Varazze's rather mediocre selection of hotels. I stayed in a street facing room and liked the addition of a spacious sunny balcony with table and chairs. All facilities were adequate though nothing remarkable. Unfortunately my room was in front of the lift so i was disturbed by guests, housekeeping and room service clattering about outside my door from a very early hour. The hotel was not full so i don't understand why they selected this room for me. otherwise no complaints.

Hotel Cristallo is good and clean. The only negative note is the breakfast that is expensive and very poor. Totally inadequate for a four-star hotel.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Old hotel, little stinky but quality vs. price is great. Good location. Now they even make great coffee at breakfast, if you ask for it. Go for it. Though the town is full of pensioners in the July...

L'accueil par les propriétaires et le personnel est très chaleureux et très serviable, l'hotel très propre, la déco des chambres est comme la plupart des hotels en italie une peu ringarde. l'environnement est très calme et la plupart des chambres ont vue sur la mer, à 50 m des plages et varraze est une super station balnéaire très sympa. Si nous revenons sur la rivièra nous y passerons plusieurs jours et nous retournerons sans doute dans cet Hotel.

Hotel only for sleep, but very nice and quite.

Cristallo hotel located in quite ideal place in Italian Liguria, from which was short distances to many interesting places: Portofino, Genova, Savona, Grotte Toirano, beaches, several mountains, nice walking distances to other cities, Monaco, Nice etc. Car parking was one very important item for us. We got good services during our visit. We can easily recommend this place to other visitors.

We stayed here only one night, but were fully satisfied from the hotel, beginnign from the entrence to the hotel area (the team was very friendly) to the checking out. In the reception we have got all the info about the surroundings without asking them. The hotel is close to the sea, nice place - excellent choise for family.

I arrived at this hotel quite late, only just in time for the dinner but the staff showed me to my room quickly and efficiently and gave me a good meal. The hotel was quiet so service was quick and efficient. I left early next morning wishing I didn't have to dash off- it's a lovely hotel only just off the main seafront, I highly recommend this place.

A very pleasant hotel only a short distance from the beach and promenade. Being off the promenade means there is very little traffic and is quiet, though few views of the sea. We felt fortunate to have a room with some sea view. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently situated between the train station and the main centre - only a short walk to either. My only criticism, though this seems to apply to all hotels, is the lack of directions to the hotel within the town - e.g. in relation to train station, main access route. Having said that, we did manage to find the hotel quite easily as there is a sign on the main road.

Room and a the services had been excellent

The hotel is very nice and near to center and to beach.

The hotel was very convenient (equivalent distance to several blocks) to the train station, but far enough down a hill or well enough insulated that I didn't notice the noise at night. It was also a very easy walk (few blocks) to the promenade along the waterfront and the main shopping street. The cetner of town was a bit longer walk, but I enjoyed it. The not so good... The room was a bit small by American standards, but there was good storage space integrated into walls and such. I didn't mind a bit, as it was plenty big if you're just planning on using the room for sleeping, getting clean, but a little small if you're planning on working or reading from the room. The towels were thin by American standards, but again on par with what I got at other comparablely priced hotels in Italy and France. WRT to English speaking travelers: When I checked in the person spoke enough English that things went quite smoothly. Also, the lady who showed me the room did fine. When I was checking out, the lady at the desk spoke very little English, so there was some confusion (I had given them my credit card information and signed something when I checked in which I thought was authorizing them to charge my credit card, but evidently not, and so I thought she wanted me to sign something, but she didn't realize that I wanted to pay via credit card and didn't understand why I was trying to sign something rather than give her money. Hehe). She was very polite about it, and put me on the phone with a fellow who spoke a little more English so that we could figure out the confusion. So she handeled it quite well, but it did take a little while longer than it should have to check out and I had to run to catch my train. The restaurant that I was recommended (Perche Non) was very convenient had a good pesto pasta, but the mixed seafood appetiser made my stomach upset. If I were going again, I'd eat at some place else. There were several good gelato shops, bakerie

Excellent hotel,warmly greeted on arrival, rooms excellent and will be noted for future visits to Italy

Compered to the price, we expected a more upgraded standard.

The manager/owner and his family were really great. They were helpful with all our questions about the area and what we could do off season. Although not the fancy hotel like the ones I have had opportunities to stay, this was one of the most comfortable. I would go back if I had a chance to stay in Varazze.
