Me and my partner have just returned from the fabulous Hotel Bellavista and Lake Como. The hotel was lovely and the proprietors couldnt do enough for us. We had a lake view room (106) which had spectacular views of the lake. The hotel is at the end of a narrow road and is popular with windsurfers at a weekend (early risers) which can make car parking difficult and they do make a bit of noise. Car parking is at the hotel and we didnt find it a problem parking (even at the weekend). We had a car for the duration of our stay (3 nights) and I would say that this is the only way to quickly get around the lake and surrounding area. However, you need to be confident at driving abroad and on narrow one track roads to have a pleasant trip. The hotel was easy to find with a map (no sat nav needed) and is really well located to see the whole of the lake. We drove round the whole lake in one day with several stops. Bellagio is a must vist, but go early to avoid the crowds and to get a parking space. We then got on a boat to see other towns on the lake. There are only a few restaurants within walking distance of the hotel but all lovely as well as the gelateria "Ice" which is heavenly. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a great base for a holiday to Lake Como. We had a magical time and didnt want to come home.

A really great choice. Spacious room with big balcony with a view in the lake. A perfect choice to visit the Como lake. We had a car and it was not hard to find the place, but I guess with public transportation would be quite difficult to reach.

The directions given to reach Bella Vista were very helpful. We were greeted by a lovely family and shown to our large balcony view room. The view was spectacular! We had a very clean, comfortable room with the towels changed each day. Our breakfasts were served in the room with a view right over the lake each morning.Fresh fruits, cereals, meat, cheese, breads and juices.Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. Their son Alberto spoke English and helped us with internet connection, train transport, and local restaurant bookings. I had a special birthday dinner at one Lecco seafood restaurant. There is a great pizza/restaurant and take-away shop down the road too. The family suggested places to visit in the lakes area. We would recommend you stay at Bella Vista as it is a good base to see the Italian Lakes.

We had few mosquitoes in the room. In the morning it was a bit noisy due to the windsurfers. Beside that: staff were very friendly, balcony had a great view on the lake and breakfast was fine. Better go there with a car.

We stayed at Bellavista our first night in Italy and we were stunned by the view from our lakefront room, truly "Bella Vista"! It was a perfect launching point for the Lake Como area. We don't speak Italian and when we had trouble with our rental car, the property owners were extremely helpful in getting the issue resolved.

The Bellavista is right beside the Lecco arm of Lake Como and has a beautiful view across the lake to Lecco and the surrounding mountains. The hotel is less than two years old, although the original hotel on the site had been in the owner husband's family since the 19th century. Our room was on the second floor where we had French doors and shutters opening onto a small (standing room only) balcony with its stunning view of the lake and mountains. The room was a reasonable size, with a large bathroom, and was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast, in a nice room downstairs, was excellent. Parking was in marked spaces beside the hotel. With help from the owners' son we found a supermarket a kilometre down the street. Perhaps the downside for the Bellavista is its location near the end of a road, with no particular places of interest nearby. However the spectacular view more than compensates.

Our stay at this hotel was very memorable. It was our first time traveling to Lake Como. The view from our rooms was just breath-taking, the family who run the hotel was very nice and helpful. The rooms and beds are clean and comfortable. This hotel has been newly renovated so it's really really nice!! The breakfast was superb! I LOVE the toast! If I ever travel back to Italy, I would definitely spend more time in Bellavista!

Hotelwas fine but windsurfers take over the area between 4-7:30 pm and make it difficult if not impossible to get a parking space. Also on weekend nights loud music from nearby bar didn't stop until 2 am

This hotel was absolutely fantastic. A family run business with 1st class hospitality. The owners have so much passion for this place that they work from 7am until Midnight ensuring all guests are looked after. They are Both there during breakfast greeting all the guests and ensuring that everyone has had enought to eat. Of course there was always ample to eat at breakfast, i cant imagine anyone leaving hungry. The service is really warm & genuine. We requested a lake view room, but at the time of booking there wasnt one available, but they happily moved us after the first night once a room became available. The hotel appears to be well looked after, the rooms we stayed in were spacious & extremely clean. We would definitely stay here again if we return. location wise it suited us as we had a car. Valmadrera as a town wasnt much, but 2km away is Lecco which has a wider choice for dining & night life. Bellagio is only 25mins by car.

We had a fantastic room with terrace overlooking the lake (which was just across the very quiet road in front of the hotel), it was a very welcome clean, spacious and modern hotel and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the Lake Como area who wants a quieter area to stay in with watersports very close

The hotel and the hosts were truly excellent. A very nice stay in Valmadrera, a beautiful view to the Lake Como and the mountains around, and vey welcoming hosts. As we came back from the mountains, soaking wet (the rain caught us while hiking), we found that all restaurants were closed at 16.00 (we found out they were only open for lunch from 12.00 to 14.30, and for dinner after 19.30). So our hosts made up a cold lunch for us, since we were starving, although they normally only serve breakfast to their guests. Thank you for your kindness!

Staff really nice and got a great welcome on arrival. Room had large veranda overlooking the lake and very reasonable mini bar however sound proofing was poor and you could hear people moving about in the mornings. Great location for visting Como and Varenna(recommend visit). Lovely breakfast and host made every effort to seat you where possible with a lake view. Three restaurants locally and nice bar. Would recommend the terraced restaurant which is a little pricey but well worth it for food, service and location. No air conditioning so can get a little warm at night.

The Breakfast was great, the owners were on hand to discuss and chat with us as we were being served. They were very hands on and were sure to make sure that we are propery accomodated for items within their control. They have the best view and nice clean rooms. The only comment that i would have is just some added selling point for them, not that it is needed, but is a good way to have guests enjoy more. - Maybe rent out some fishing rods to have the guest rent and relax by the hotel. (not really needed, but is a good way to invite more relaxing guests). The place was absolutely great.

The owners, Cristina and Carlos could not have been more friendly and helpful. The only problem was the noise from a neighbouring disco which continued nightly until about three o'clock in the morning. Otherwise this was a fantastic hotel in a lovely location. If there had been air-conditioning we would have been able to keep the windows closed, which probably would have masked the noise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bellavista. Cristina and her family were extremely accommodating and helpful. They're recommendation to visit La Madonnina restaurant (in Barni) was fantastic and the view was unforgettable. Valmadrera was within a reasonable driving distance to Bellagio to see the sights although the drive along the lake is nerve-wracking!! Excellent practice for the remainder of our holiday in Italy though. Would highly recommend staying here if you're after somewhere quiet, relaxing but within easy reach to the pearl of the lake.

Proprietor, Carlo, met us with an umbrella in the rain and carried our heavy bags up the stairs to the reception area. His wife who checked us in was also very friendly and helpful. As we arrived well after 3pm and had not had any lunch, Carlo kindly arranged with the restauranteur adjacent to provide a snack which they did willingly. The rooms were very clean and spacious with a bella vista (beautiful view) of the gardens (at rear) or a magnificent view of the lake from the front rooms (our party of 4 had one of each). Breakfast was plentiful but we would have preferred to be more to ourselves as Carlo seemed over zealous to chat and feed us although this is just a personal opinion. Others may like the fussing. Can't really think of any negatives other than it was raining and we were there for one night only and couldn't "explore" much beyond the hotel which is on a no-through road.

The hotel is run by a married couple, both very friendly, especially the husband who is extremely helpful and friendly from the minute you arrive, he greets you as you exit your car and helps carry your bags up a small flight of steps (there is disabled access outside to avoid these) provides you with information on the area and shows you to your room (via another lift so no carrying bags). He also ensured we had enough to eat for breakfast, which was very nice too. We had a lake view room with a little balcony and we would strongly recommend this as the views are beautiful. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Only problem was alot of bugs set up home in the room at night, not sure why this particular part of the lake attracted them, but they didn't bite! It wasn't the quietest of locations, there is a nightclub on the other side of the lake which was quite noisy, it must annoy some people including the owners on weekend nights, but we didn't really mind. There is not alot to do within close proximity of the hotel, the hotel has a restaurant which we didn't try, we opted for 2 others nearby. Lecco is a realtively short drive away and a good location for shopping (if you can afford designer boutiques) and eating delicious ice cream by the lake, you can see the hotel from this location. We also visited the Moto Guzzi factory which is close by. Due to the friendliness of the owners and the room with balcony, and good value for money, we would stay again.

This was an amazing property & location. With a view looking out onto lake come and a backdrop of misty swiss mountains... what more could we ask for - we were very lucky to have a room with this kind of view! A wonderful family run this property who went above & beyond what anyone should or would do for strangers during our stay. We felt very at home, especially during our difficult time and were made to feel like family! We could not thank the family at Bellavista enought, outstanding everything! Thank-you kindly once again, there is no way we will every forget the hospitality but above all their compassion.

My mum and I had a fantastic stay at the Bellavista. The hospitality of the owners of the hotel is excellent. The hotel is quite central, only 1/2 hour drive to Bennagio and the lovely town of Lecco is only 5 mins drive. There were some nice restaurants within walking distance. Quiet but absolutely breathtaking views from bedroom. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone! Also the disability access is excellent. Be sure to get directions if driving to this hotel.

Indeed, the name Bellavista is apt. The views are excellent. The hotel is nice; the lakeview balconey is pleasant. We enjoyed the two-hour session of watching windsurfers in the morning. The owners are on hand and very helpful. We did not try the hotel restaurant; we understood it to be independent of the owners. We did eat down the street to the south (where the restaurant flys over the street. Couldn't recommend it.

The people who run the hotel are fantastic.. our flight was delayed and we didnt get there till the middle of the night but they were very welcoming. The room was large, and it opened onto a large terrace overlooking the lake, with lecco and the mountains visible across the water. The bathroom was spacious and looked to be recently refurbished, and that had a great view too!! We paid 3 times as much for a night in a nice room in Palace hotel in Como but to be honest I prefered Bellavista. One point to note; we had a car, I don't know what you would do if you didn't have one. Also, if you are driving there have a look at a map of the local neighbourhood roads first.
