Hotel Paterno - Paterno, Vaglia

It's our third stay on our way to our holidaystay. Good restaurant. It's a quiet place to stay.

We very much appreciated the restaurant which serves local cuisine but were very disappointed about the cleaneliness of the rooms and the time it takes to get hot water in the bathroom. Quality vs. Price although acceptable particularly on a motorbike GP week-end.

We used the hotel for racing at Mugello and the drive was about 12K from the circuit. The hotel was in Paterno not Vaglia (a bit further on) and looked as described. It was in the middle of knowhere but each evening the restaurant was very busy and the food was excellent. The rooms were very spacious and mostly had beds for 4-5 people but the furnishings were very basic Italian, but beds very comfortable. The wet room was interesting and small!! but the water was hot and the whole effort served the purpose. Breakfast was only a pre-wrapped croissant and coffee!! not the best way to start the day. We stayed 4 nights. There is better value accomodation around the area.

The Pizzeria is typical and very good. The hotel is very simpel and secuded. The rooms are to expensive for the offering.

If you like McDonald’s style Highway hotels - fast food, plastic furniture and conveyer approach - it is not your place. But if you look for a village style old Italian place - do not miss Paterno! It is a perfect place to stay, not far away from Firenze, but far away from city noise and crowded streets. Location, style and atmosphere of this hotel are incredible. Do not miss the restaurant - especially "Pizza della casa" - they will prepare it in a wood oven, with spices and love. Finally - we were three families, with 4 children and all of us were happy to stay at Paterno.

Sehr einsam!

AFTER THE SURPRISE OF FINDING THE HOTEL UP AN UNSEALED ROAD (RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION GOING ON?) AND PAST A QUARRY WE WERE PLEASED WITH THE QUIET UNSPOILT LOCATION. IT WAS COOL AND LESS THAN HECTIC AFTER FLORENCE. THE MEAL IN THE EVENING WAS EXCELLENT, AS WITNESSED BY THE FACT THAT APPROX. 50 OTHER PEOPLE MOSTLY LOCALS CAME TO EAT AS WELL!

The hotel is very difficult to reach. The information available for that in the web page is not ennouph. I requested more information by e-mail and by phone call, and I did not received. When we arrive we had to wait almost half an hour because the owner of the Hotel were bussy with some special dinner in his restoran. When we ask for something to eat, initially they offer to us a dinner for 34 Euros. Latter on one lady offer us some sandwiches. In my initiall booking I receive an answer that is confirmed with breaffast included, and they tall latter that they could not offer breakfast, and for this reason the y will disccount some ammount of the offered price. But the problem is that this hotel is in the midle of nowhere. They not have nothing in (at least)4 kilometers around to eat something.
