Delightful hotel in wonderful location on city wall with lovely views. Bedroom just beautiful, unusually and artistically furnished, with french doors onto it's own completely private garden/patio. Breakfast in the hotel garden also delightful, and excellent menu and standard of cooking for dinner. Very friendly and helpful staff. Cannot recommend too highly.

A perfectly fine hotel, on the whole, but with a few qualifications. The hotel is a bit overpriced, compared to other cities in central italy, but Urbino is small and somewhat isolated with relatively few central hotels who charge a premium. We skiped the breakfast, which was extra and expensive, but did eat in the restaurant, which had an imginative menu (including rabbit and pigeon)and was reasonably priced. The hotel is situated on the other side of the town from the bus station which makes arrival on foot a trek up and down the narrow streets dodging cars. However, if you have a room with a view (which we didn't) it affords spectacular views of the countryside. We were presented with a bowl of fruit on arrival, which was a nice touch. We came to see the Pier so we will have to returos, which was an unforgettable experience worth any cost, but the Madonna was on loan to Florence, a severe disappointment, but hardly the hotel's fault. Our visit in March co-incided with the fall of a foot of snow, giving the impression that Urbino is somewhere in Switzerland, so we will have to return when the weather is better and the Madonna has been returned to her rightful home.

We had a beautiful room. in fact two, a bedroom and a sitting room with dormer windows, with a view over the distant hills. A very good breakfast. Urbino is a hilltop town, so from the bus station you have to walk up a hill and then down on the other side to the hotel. It isn't far, but you should have good shoes!

The rooms were quite small — but brilliantly laid out. Despite their very small size, the rooms did not feel cramped and were quite well appointed. The bathrooms were excellent, as was the public area. The breakfast provided was well presented, had a great variety of choices, and was well worth the price. Excellent small hotel

We did not stay at the hotel because we did not like the room. As no better room was available they arrange a room for us at a hotel they own in PESARA, which was very nice.

Generally the Hotel Bonconte exceeded expectations, the position is wonderful and the rooms clean and comfortable and our's overlooked the courtyard garden at the rear. The staff were,as we have always found in Italy, courteous and very helpful. Breakfast is not included in the room charge but it is a very good breakfast, with the combined room and breakfast charge the Bonconte is still a very reasonably priced hotel. The hotel is also well signposted and we found it without any problems coming by foot from the lift near the bus station. There are some very good restaurants quite close to the hotel, one does not have to travel too far for dinner at night.

I stayed at the Bonconte for two nights when it was unseasonably cold and wet so was unable to take advantage of the garden and the balcony. I had requested a room with a view and was given one – a delightfully quirky room under the eaves with a separate study room – it had a table, a chair and a big window overlooking the hills beyond the city walls. Slightly disconcerting to find a large mattress blocking the main entrance when I arrived and the hotel has a slightly old-fashioned feel to it but the staff were pleasant and offered helpful information about special exhibitions to see. The breakfast service was excellent. The hotel is only a few minutes from the centre but access is up steep roads or steps – perhaps not so good if walking is a problem. However as Urbino is on a hill and I should imagine parking in the centre virtually impossible, this is a bit of a feature. The views, of course, are stunning.

This is a lovely hotel and I asked for a room with a view and was delighted to be given one. Often rooms with single occupancy don't have a pleasant outlook. Urbino is a hill town, so expect hills!! I walked from the bus station up a steep hill to the main square and then down again to the hotel, but one could take a lift, or even a taxi. The staff were very helpful. Sadly the expected restaurant was now only for groups so I had to go out alone into town to find a restaurant at night. As it turned out this was not a problem, as the staff recommended several suitable places. Breakfast was extra, as forewarned, but very substantial, and I ate in a beautiful, flowery, sunny terrace. I would certainly recommend Bonconte to a single female pensionner!

Drive through the Piazza del Repubblica, down the steep Via C. Batisti, along the Via Delle Mura and you are rewarded with the Bonconte and it's breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Parking is a breeze. The parking permit, a refundable 50 euro deposit, allows you to park next to the hotel right along the city wall. Our room was smaller but elegant. The staff was always very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast, a reasonable 7 Euros, in the charming outside patio was a great way to begin the day. There are also several nice restaurants at the Piazza del Repubblica where, after dark, everybody seems to congregate.

The hotel is a little old-fashioned (as one guidebook had pointed out) but it is in the most beautiful surroundings with the most amazing views. The room was well-presented and the view made up for the fact the slightly well-worn decor. The staff were welcome and very helpful. I would have preferred not to have music in public areas but I realise this is a personal preference. The room, however, was really quiet and tranquil.

Hotel Bonconte is a lovely property situated minutes from the Piazza on the outside wall. There is also a lovely terrace with spectacular views to enjoy. The staff was very kind and competent. Patrizia and Helena were particularly helpful in arranging a birthday party for our son. Guests at Bonconte also have rights at the San Domenica Hotel in Urbino, as well as the Vittoria Hotel in Pesaro, which is seaside with a swimming pool. It is an inexpensive and easy bus ride to Pesaro with a short walk from the station through the shopping district.

The only one positive fact that the hotel is on a good place. But: The prospect mentioned that the restaurant of the hotel offers special local foods. The fact: there isn't any restaurant in the house. There isn't any help for the luggages, and it is possible to entry into the hotel only by lot of steps. We didn't get any smile from the staff (in Italy it was the first such case in our life!!!) The room was very dark, amortized. The carpets on the floor were endangering, every pieces were slippery.

We were very comfortable and found nothing wanting in our modestly sized room with a garden view. Desk staff extremely helpful and friendly. Location offers perfect access to all of Urbino on foot, and parking is made very convenient and easy with the pass provided by the hotel for a refundable E50. Great restaurant recommendations by staff were also within easy walking distance to hotel. Delicious regional wines, especially verdicchio.

This hotel is probably the best situated in the whole of Urbino, with the most wonderful views over the countryside to the east of the town. It is in a peaceful location, yet within 10 minutes (uphill) walk of the central piazza. In early May it was a little too chilly to make much use of the hotel's terraces and garden, but in warmer weather they will undoubtedly be a bonus. Also, hotel restaurant not operational at that time, but nearby La Morgana good value. Breakfast not included in the room price, and is expensive if you're not after much more than a coffee and croissant, in which case a nearby cafe is better. Only niggle was inadequacy of instructions on how to drive the last few hundred frustrating metres to the hotel door; try to extract specific details from them if you can.

Travelling through Italy to find the best small towns and we decided to stop in Urbino. The Hotel Bonconte is in a very convenient position as long as you realise it is in a one way street and access is from only one entrance to the old town of Urbino. The hotel staff are very professional and the hotel itself very comfortable. We imagine in summer it would be even more beautiful.

My rating may seem all over the board but that's because we were booked into two different rooms; I'm considering what could have been as well as what actually happened. I don't know how hotels decide who stays in which room, but our reservations were made about 8 months prior to our stay so I can't believe they were fully booked at that time - especially in an August. That being said when we first checked into the Bonconte we were shown to an upper room that was built into the dormer. I'm a pretty tall woman, and if I was to stand up on my side of the bed, I would have hit my head. In the bath I would have had to stand with my head in the sky light to shower. The wallpaper at the head of the bed where others had rested was greasy. I don't know what we would have done about accommodations in Urbino if they didn't have another room available, but we went to the front staff to express our dissatisfaction and since we were staying two nights they moved us to a very lovely room on the lower floor. It was elegant, of ample size, with a gorgeous view of the valley, with a complementary bowl of fruit and candies. The staff were kind and helpful with sufficient English. The breakfast is not included so we opted to eat outside the hotel, but from what we could observe it seemed to offer an ample selection. The location made it easy to come and go by car to explore Le Marche. Would I return to Bonconte? Yes, but only if I could choose the same room we stayed in this time.

Set in abundant hills, this hotel has character. It has a small garden shaded by fig trees for breakfast (v. good), and a terrace overlooking the ancient landscape to lounge on, so no need to feel hemmed into your room. It retains the charm of a family-run pensione without being intrusive.Everything is within easy walking distance. Highly recommended!

We much enjoyed our stay in spacious and very quiet rooms, also very good service and a superb location. However, hotel text ought to include a warning for those arriving by bus! It seemed no distance to walk, but even with taking the lift, the narrow, very steep and cobbled lanes down to the Hotel made dragging our cases not only difficult but exhausting.Do advise people to take a taxi from the bus station!

We had a quiet room facing the interior garden. The hotel is very close to the center; parking is also available - you get a special permit from the hotel. Breakfast was excellent. I found the hotel a little pricey for the comfort it offered, but again Urbino is pretty expensive so I guess it was OK after all. Get a good map since it can be hard to find it if you arrive at night.

A lovely hotel, highly recommended, in an old villa in lovely quiet position just inside the walls but only 5 mins walk (uphill) to centre. We had the largest of the standard rate rooms, Room 106, and although not large it was perfectly adequate with a lovely view out to lawns and trees and not overlooked. A small corridor outside the room led to a terrace with lovely views over the surrounding hills to the front of the hotel. At 77 euros per night plus 11 euros each for breakfast it was very good value. The breakfast buffet was superb, served outside in the garden or inside. 24 hour bar/snacks service. Trattoria del Leone and Le Tre Piante (with outdoor terrace) good value local restaurants. Friendly staff. English spoken. Felt very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again if we go back to Urbino - hope we do!John and Gerry Barton

The clietele varied in age, seemed quite educated, and was not an outwardly affluent group -- teachers, young couples, etc. We stayed in one of the lowest priced rooms, and it was quite small, with no windows. However, it was sparkling clean, quiet, and had skylights that opened up to the outside, which was really a fun touch.

This is a really nice hotel in a wonderful little city. The staff were excellent and the hotel was great value for money. However, if I have one quibble, it is that although rated as a four star hotel, the room I stayed in was not four star standard (to be fair the cost of my stay was not four star either). I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone who has the good fortune to visit Urbino.

We had requested a quiet room at the rear which was spacious, peaceful and very clean. Ensuite bathroom had only a small bath. Front rooms have glorious countryside views, quiet at night but during the day the main road outside the city walls was busy with noisey traffic Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Suggested good restaurants for meals within walking distance of the hotel. We travelled by car and found parking outside the hotel easy (hotel provided us with a parking permit and the hotel is on a one way street which gets very little traffic. If arriving at the main bus station it would be about a 10 minute walk to the hotel(steep uphill for 5 minutes and then downhill for 5 minutes) All in all would love to visit this beautiful city again staying at the Bonconte of course

Hotel Bonconte was a fine value for the money. It is located on a tiny street down the hill from the city. (Remember to ask for a parking permit to park on the street.) Bring your walking shoes! This is a hill town and very charming, but you must walk up from the hotel and it is a steep climb. We each had a single room, and though they were small, they were extremely clean and well cared for. The staff went out of their way to help us with information. Urbino is off the beaten path for most tourists, so it is a welcome respite from the crowds.

This hotel is in a great location. The room was large and clean. There was a bar right under our window, and was very noisy through most of the night. The windows were not insulated enough and every little noise came through as though the window was open. Other than that, it was nice enough.

Hotel Bonconte was fine in every way, especially the helpfulness of the front desk personnel. My only complaint would be the noise level. It is near the city walls of Urbino, and the front of the hotel is just above a traffic circle which cars seemed to use all night long. I recommend the hotel, but our room in the front, with view, also came with lots of noise. Ask for a room in the back.

We found the hotel very easily, were able to park outside as we had no need of a car while visiting Urbino. A fine, small hotel; we had an excellent room. Breakfast was not included (which we knew in advance) and was pricey, so we skipped it and ate elsewhere...but that was not a problem. The location is excellent...at the edge of the town, along the walls. It's a short and beautiful walk to the top of the hill and the center of the town. We arrived by car, parked easily near the hotel, and didn't have to move the car until we left town. There was no additional charge to park. The directions provided were inadequate, but Urbino is small and we had a map, so that is not a big deal. Also, the photos/description do not do justice to the hotel: it's better than we expected.

A Beautiful Hotel in a very good location for Urbino. Parking was in a free public area about 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Every staff person was helpful and friendly. Great breakfast. Great location though a bit difficult to find; better directions would help. Very restful, we would definitely recommend this hotel.

Bonconte is a great value place to stay. The staff are very welcoming and rooms comfortable. The only downsides would be that parking is limited, and breakfasts rather basic.

The room allocated was small but adequate being located in the roof space. The location of the Hotel itself was ideal being just within the city walls with potential views over the surrounding countryside, our window was in the roof!

Very satisfactory. Help in carrying in suitcases would have been welcome. Very good buffet breakfast. Car parking was some way from the hotel outside the city walls which was not very reassuring.
