Hotel Virgilio - Tropea

A perfect hotel nearby the old town and the beaches. Wonderful beaches.

We spent 6 nights at Virgilio. The key features are very friendly reception, hotel in great position near the market and at the top of the town a short walk from all the action and yet in a relatively quiet location. The town has everything lots of great restaurants and interesting activities:- live popular music, plays, opera recital. Beach charges varied from 20-5 euro for 2 beds and umbrella. Only major downside was the poor breakfast.

Cheap and cheerful but the bathroom smelt horrible.

This hotel is probably half way between the station and the city centre. Everything is walking distance because Tropea is so small. This was my second time staying here and again it was pleasant. Rooms were clean, tv available, good location, friendly staff.

From the train station, follow the street which curves down around to the left under the tracks, turn left at the petrol station and you will see the sign. 5 minutes walk. Centrally located, everything accessible on foot. European style breakfast with toast, ceral, youghurts etc.

Very helpful staff, bilingual or more. Very convenient and safe parking (may be full in July August, but that was not my case).

Good hotel located close to the main street

Parking was a big plus. Directions to restaurants were very good. The room, though small, was adequate with plenty of hot water.

This was a bit of a disappointment, the bathroom was horrible, the showere had no shower curtain it used to you couls tell. the television did not work and the room was souless. The bed was hard and the decor of the room was very depressing. It was difficult to find and when i phoned up to find out where no one really spoke english. We did not bother with the breakfast i cant say the hotel was atrocious in anyway it just was not very welcoming as was Tropea i doubt we will go back to this part of Italy again or this hotel.
