Central location, easily accessible from city centre and train station. Rooms a bit tired-looking but spacious. Breakfast could be a bit better but we already knew what to expect so no disappointments there. Overall, very good value for money.

Very clean place extremely convenient to train station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent price to value ratio. The neighborhood is a little run down, but I did not feel unsafe. Easy walk to the historic center. I stayed one night. I would stay here again.

Only one bad point: the breakfast was very sparse: no ham, no cheese, no eggs, only bread and butter.

Trieste is a beautiful place with good flavor of an Imperial City. People are very friendly. The Novo Hotel Impero has an excelent location and his relationship between price and quality is excellent

Convenient for train and bus station, nice and quiet. Perfectly adequate. Reasonable breakfast, but tepid water doesn't make a cup of tea!

Close to train station, easy to find. Hotel is near high traffic streets, some car noise. The hotel does have good windows-ask for non-street side rooms. Basic comfortable hotel.

The hotel is old related to the prices. but clean. rich breakfast in the morning, and kind employees. The people I met were strangers, and Italians for work.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights, and it was fine. It is right across the square from the train station, so that was very convenient; about a ten-fifteen minute walk to the city center - definitely doable. The room was very large, with oddly high ceilings and a bit strange decor, but that wasn't really a problem - just sort of weird. And the photos on Venere.com make it look a bit more luxurious and modern than it actually is. The bathroom was very clean, as was the bedroom - it just felt a bit worn. Wifi in the room was great, but the system of fees was inconvenient and wasteful - I don't remember the exact rates, but it was expensive; and your time had to be used continuously (so if you paid for five hours, you had five hours from the time you first logged-in, rather than five hours to use up over time) - so that would be my main complaint. Breakfast was good and had a pretty good selection that changed over the two days I was there. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay in Trieste, especially if you are coming/going via the train station.

Very friendly and helpful staff, hotel centrally located and easy to find, spacious room and facilities and double-glazed windows, the only fault being the entrance door and the door of the hotel room, which was difficult to open and all but sound-proof. No problem as we stayed in the low season with hardly anybody on our floor. Breakfast OK.

Pretty old hotel, but in a good position (just in front of the train station) and not far from the center of the city. My room was big, but not so luminous and with smelly essence of old smoke. Well-furnished minibar. Breakfast not unforgettable but not bad. The reception staff was very kind and helpful to give information about nearby (also available city map in case). Possibility of left-luggage room near the reception during the departure day.

Close to Train station tho getting luggage up the stairs in the underground passageway was a challenge. Rooms are BIG! There was a Bath! Hotel rooms are clean, with the staff at reception some are more helpful than others.

The receptionist lady was very welcoming and helped us also nicely with a map of the city, and pointed out some interesting places. The room and the bathroom was very spacious, the only thing which needs some repair is the doors of the shower. Its situation near the trainstation is rather good, therefore I think it is not only suited to commerce poeple, but also to holiday poeple. The distances are not big in the city, you can easely walk if you want to explore the city. Even the walk to the old cathedral is not difficult.

Excellent business style hotel across from train station. Easily accessed by walking with luggage. One step up to lobby and three to the lift. Very nice double room with an entrance room with couch and chairs (not all rooms have this). Well equipped bathroom (hair dryer) with a smallish shower stall. TV with CNN and BBC. Very nice breakfast with meats, croissants, pastries which changed each day. Coffee by order or from urn.

Good hotel located in front of the train station (100 meters). As Trieste is not so big it's possible to walk to the center in 10 minutes. The room (at the 3rd floor) was nice and very big: in fact I paid for a single and I had a double! Good italian breakfast, with warm cornettos (filled with jam, nutella, or cream). It's also possible to use the luggage room.

Average hotel. Big rooms, but interior is dull. If you travel with train or bus, it's probably the best choice, but only parking option for the car is to pay them to park it for you. Somewhere... Very inconvenient if you forgot something in it.

The hotel is in a convenient location near the station and an easy walk to the centre of the city. As such it is a busy, functional and very efficient hotel. The public areas are welcoming and bright but our bedroom was rather gloomy and dark. A good breakfast is included.

Optimal location. Single room and furnishing in general essential, but spatious rooms. Atmosphere not so magic as promised on the web site, rather to be found in some details of the architecture.

- single rooms quite small - old fashioned, worn out furniture (1960-70s) in room and bathroom - depressing overall impression of the room - breakfast room like in a hostal - breakfast offer quiet basic - hotel and esp. rooms urgently need refurbishing - rooms to the patio very quiet, but noise from corridors as doors are thin - 95€ per night incl. breakfast too expensive - beautiful facade of the building and good central location on beautiful square opposite central train station

Nice, clean, spacious hotel very close to the train and bus stations (great if you're just staying for a stop over, but a bit far from the city center if you're touring around Trieste for a few days). Friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommended.

Excellent value for money, very friendly staff, superb location just left in front of railway station. Luggage can be stored in an extra (locked) room. Good breakfast for italian standards. I don't have any negative comments and can recommend this hotel to everyone!

This hotel is really good value for money. The place was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The breakfast was pretty good too. The only thing that we could find fault with was the shower head that kept slipping. All in all, the Novo Impero is a great place to stay in Trieste if you're on a budget. Right near the centre of Trieste too! (PS. The pizzeria just down the road is really really good, and Francis Ford Coppola has been there because there are photos of him hanging on the wall!)

The hotel was as described and a good value for the price. The triple was clean and spacious. I would have liked to have had more than the one pillow but I slept fine. The breakfast was quite nice and the public rooms were very lovely. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. There was noise from the hallways at night but we didn't hear anything from other rooms. The hotel was very easy to get to and for 10 euro our car was picked up, garaged for 24 hours and delivered back to the front door.

Very competent staff, but there was noise from other guests late at night which was beyond the control of the staff. The breakfast could have been improved by the addition of some fresh fruit or fresh fruit juice, as opposed to the synthetic fruit juice that was on offer. The staff however were excellent and the room was very good.

After 8 hours of voyage in the heat we were welcomed very coolly - just what we needed. The room had the atmosphere of a garage. The ventilator in the bath made a threatening sound. An electric switch was out of its socket and hung on the wires from the wall. Somehow it was funny – ok for one night.

Comments: Lobby was classy looking...beautiful. The two young ladies and the gentleman at reception were all extremely helpful, friendly, and courteous. The breakfast lady was accomodating: I arrived early for breakfast and she said I could go ahead and get started on breakfast, and warned me to be careful about the croissants as they were fresh out of the oven and still very hot. I had a pleasant and clean small room. The TV worked. The shower was a little too small. I really liked the interior of this hotel...lots of marble and granite, tufa, etc. Great paintings (mostly modern art.) The location, near the train station, was an advantage for me. The price was right, and I would stay here again.
