Hotel Alla Valle di Banne - Trieste

As we drove out of Trieste, up a very steep, winding road, we wondered if we had made a big mistake. When we arrived at the very peaceful Hotel alla Valle di Banne and were warmly welcomed by Marina, all of those thoughts disappeared immediately. We loved it here, and even discovered that there was a much better approach road, but our sat nav had made a poor choice. A bus from the hotel doorstep took us back into the delightful centre of Trieste where we spent a very pleasant evening. Our only regret was that we were just passing through and did not have a few days to really enjoy ourselves here.

Very out of the way and difficult to reach -- limited dining options nearby. small rooms, clean and functional, but not particularly worth the hassle of the remote location (up a long and narrow mountain). Owners were OK, a bit odd, but friendly enough I guess.

The directions were easy to follow. The hotel is in a nice quiet little village a short drive from Trieste. The bathroom was a large size by European standards and the room was comfortable. The breakfast was very good with excellent variety and choice. The staff were extremely helpful with information. There is no restaurant at the hotel and the village does not have anywhere to eat so you have to travel to the next village for lunch or dinner. If you have a car its not a problem because the next village is only about 2 kms away. The recommeded caffe was excellent and cheap. I highly recommend the hotel to others.

We stayed 2 days. The hotel has a very helpful, welcoming and nice staff. Good breakfas. It is however quite far from the center of Trieste (be careful to have the precise location with you when arriving, as it is quite difficult to find, not in Trieste but in Banne), but easy access to center of Trieste through historical tram from Opicina or bus 39 (45 min). A fridge is available in the room. There was noise because of the roof being repaired.

It is difficult to get the right water temperature in the shower without either making the floor wet or having first cold water. Otherwise the hotel is well kept and pleasant, I would recommend it to other travellers.

We enjoyed the secluded and quaint localita di Banne. It took a couple extra minutes to find the hotel, because the streets are not well marked. However, the map on the website is accurate and had we used it, we would have had no trouble at all. It is a short and scenic 10 minute drive to Trieste. The room was a good size, clean, and with comfortable beds. The breakfast was nicely done - fresh food and delicious. The only negative was a loud group that came in late at night and the walls did little to block that compared to other places we've stayed. Overall, I would recommend LA VALLE DI BANNE to anyone who enjoys the bed and breakfast environment and if I can go to Trieste again, I would be happy to stay there.

A very comfortable hotel with most hospitable owners, close to Trieste and not too far from Venice. Cheerfully helpful, Marco and Marina are always ready to point guests in the right direction, the accommodation is excellent and the breakfasts are super. Anne and Tricia Hardy from Warwickshire would love to return one day! Arrivederci!

The hotel is quite good for its category and price. The room was spacious enough and the bathroom functional and clean. Breakfast was average. The hotel must not be easy to find without a GPS. Dining options are scarce around.

WE loved this place! Quiet, terrific surroundings,clean and beautifully furnitured room. It is ideal for a stop off coming from/ to Slovenia. The town Trieste is about 10 minutes drive far. It is highly recommended, we also will definitely come back.

We are very happy with this hotel, it has been the best one! The owners are the ones that take care of the hotel and it's amazing how helpful and nice and happy persons they are! They helped us with everything, the plans in Trieste and arranged everything to go to Venecia, timings of the train, everything what we needed and even more and they are not charging for anything, they even offered us to lend us their bikes! We loved them! I'm really sorry that it took us so long to write the comments (since march), but we are really greatfull! The hotel is super clean, the rooms are renovated so everything is new, it's much better than in the pictures! The breakfast is delicious and very complete, they make the bread and tastes like heaven as well as the cappuchino! There is a free parking also. And one more thing, they sell some pictures of the city that are incredible! you must ask for them! Young mexican couple.

Excellent Hotel! Breakfast was excellent and abundant. Rooms are spacious and very clean. You can reach Trieste in 10 minutes by car, but with a country lane you are in Trieste in 3 minutes. The employees are very kind. They gave us some precious information about the surroundings

Very nice area in village of Banne, the hotel is quite well held. Very nice breakfast, only quality of beds and pay internet are negative points.

Marco and Marina were excellent hosts, and were very helpful in arranging bikes for the local cycle paths. All in all, an excellent short break here.

The property is an ideal place to relax after a day's excursion foreingn people and for italian for discovery particular grenn area very good breakfast with variety of products and availability, and delicious desserts courtesy of the owners to highlight a pleasant surprise this location very good in any time of year congratulation

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Alla Valle di Banne. The hotel is best accessed by car, but its proximity to Opicina means that you can easily take the scenic tram to get to Trieste. The hotel is tucked into a quiet neighborhood in the wooded foothills, so the surroundings are peaceful and cool. The continental breakfast is delicious and generous. The proprietors are so friendly and went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. They provided maps of Trieste, even marking one-way streets for us. They let us use their laundry when our newly-washed clothes ended up in a rainstorm. And when I forgot my cell phone on the nightstand, they shipped it back to the US for me.

Very obliging and cordial welcome, clean rooms, nice italian breakfast (good espresso and brioche), private parking - perfect for travels by car. Ask for the "tram d'opicina" to Trieste, which is a great experience!

Unbeliveably welcoming hosts make you feel at home all the time, and provide much more than you payed for. If you are traveling with an unrully child, as we did, they would do anything possible to make your stay enjoyable (provide toys, make free dinners etc). I couldn't imagine better place and more hospitable staff.

Lovely family-run hotel with warm welcome and excellent value for money. Tip: if you want to use the bus (which stops outside the gate) into Trieste you need to get tickets first (no tickets sold on the bus).

Excellent hotel!!!Staff is really friendly and helpfully. Rooms are extremely clean and big. Surrounding is very quiet. Trieste center is very far. You need a car and your will drive by a narrow road. But the hotel is brilliant in order to rest and to know Slovenia, Croatia,Venezia...

A pleasant pivately run hotel in a small village outside Trieste but convenietly lose to the motorway. Ideal as a stop-off on a journey to/from Croatia

People at hotel were very friendly, nice and helpful. Rooms were simple, but clean and spacious and the hotel area is really quiet (no traffic noise at all).

This is a great place to say, quiet location. Own transport is needed, but Opicina is only 2km away with free parking and good links to downtown Trieste. Not that easy to find , but once you've spotted the Banne turnoff its well signposted. Only annoyance was some sort of beeping alarm that went off at regular intervals through the night. I think it was on an adjacent property but disturbed my sleep nonetheless. Staff went out of their way to help, waited up for my arrival, gave good advice on transport etc. Would definitely stay again.
