Expected to stay in the actual chateau itself not a stable out the back. This should be well posted on Venere and indeed their own site. The room we stayed in smelled like an old folks home, the bathroom and toilet were in two different rooms which was really annoying. Some call it qaint and old world but you cannot pass this off and charge a high price for basic accomodation just because it is in nice surroundings. The cabin on the ferry over was bigger and more comfortable..and prettier... which is saying something. Room was so small and for Eur170 not inc breakfast it was way overpriced and the hotel was indeed punching above its weight. We arrived on a motorcyle and were made feel like second class citizens by the staff despite the bike being worth more than cars in the carpark. "Would I like to park the bike around the back"? No thanks I'll leave it in front of the Chateau...Dinner was average to say the least and the environment was pretentious and very uncomfortable. Not a young person's place I agree, but please be more clear and state that yes, you could actually be staying in a grotty room that resembles a stable..a stable that Shergar would be disgusted with...never again!

We thoroughly enjoyed the staff, the excellent food (one night at the in house restaurant is highly recommended--it is amazing) and the location. We rented bikes in Tours through Amstercycles for two days and visited 5 chateaus, beautiful bike trails. We were able to rent a car for three days and were completely lost coming back from Tours for two of those days--this is easy to do in France. We had a wonderful room, very peaceful and clean--we highly recommend these accomodations

Very lovely place indeed. It was a great experience in castle staying. Just one small minus: diner and especially breakfast doesn’t worth the price.

An absolute delight. We stayed 1 night on the way back to the ferry at Caen and this was the perfect end to our holiday. Friendly staff, great location and wonderful food. Everyone was attentive and the service was faultless.

This hotel was well worth the money. My husband and I had a lovely stay. The staff were wonderful and helpful and there was a place to park the car. The grounds were delightful and the hotel was a good place from which to explore the Loire Valley.

Beautiful facility with excellent service and appointments. Restaurant was a bit pricey. We had some noisy neighbors above us for 2 of our 3 nights, but that can happen anywhere. Every effort was made to make our stay as comfortable as possible...there was a problem with the bed in the first room and we were accomodated beautifully!

The Hotel staff were very helpful and polite, organised a rent a car and gave advice of what to see and where to rent push bikes. Also we received detailed written intructions to places (Chateaus, towns etc.) we wished to visit.

Just a dream property. Fantastic ground. Pleasant and helpfull staff. Good location for visiting Chateaus. The restaurant is just wonderful, if you stay here you have to have dinner here, we stayed here 4 nights and had dinner here every night, a wonderful dining experience every evening. If we return to this area we will definitly stay here again.

What a wonderful property! We didn't arrive until midnight after a gruelingly long day on the train but the staff went out of their way to help us get settled before they left for the evening. And the next evening the manager came by our table (a delicious dinner) to ask if our arrival had gone well...the entire staff was courteous and helpful. The setting was drop dead gorgeous! I can't say enough about this fabulous.

This is a splendid setting overlooking other chateaux across the valley. We chose the Vieux Logis because it was ground level and required no stair climbing, and it was a lovely furnished room with a roomy shower, a small toilet room, and even had a mini fridge where we kept our picnic supplies. The only problem we had was an inconsistency in accommodating our allergies to wheat -- they kept trying to stick in a cookie in our dessert or give us croissants from breakfast when we had carefully explained our intolerance. Otherwise, the food and the room were lovely.
