Hotel Octel - Portet-sur-Garonne, Toulouse

I thought the hotel was very nice, clean, comfortable, and I really enjoyed the wireless access, bathrooms, and decorations. However I was very disappointed with the location, which I could not tell based on reading a map was so far from Toulouse centre. I spent more on my cab getting there than on my train ticket to Toulouse from Montpillier.

Hotel Octel was an interesting place. It's pretty much behind the Carrefour mall, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The rooms were clean and big, and there were restaurants in the area. WIFI was also available and worked well. The problem I encountered was that when we booked with Venere, it was listed as a 4-person family room. Upon our arrival, we were told that there are no 4-person rooms. We ended up having to get a second room, which they gave to us at 1/2 price. It was a fair enough solution, but the supervisor on the phone with the clerk did seem to think that the error was our fault, when it wasn't. I was surprised to see that the Octel had charged my credit card about 3 days in advance of our stay. There were no separate instructions on Venere (when I booked or when I printed out the information) about pre-charging. The clerk insisted that they run everyone's cards ahead of time. I would have preferred to know that when making the reservation. The clerk himself was very helpful and cheerful. I was happy with the accomodations, beds, etc. I was just disappointed with those two major elements of the encounter.
