Anstey's Lea Hotel - Wellswood, Torquay

When we arrived there wasn't enough toilet roll to last the first night we had to ask for more, we ran out 2 days before leaving and it wasn't replaced we bought our own. The carpet in the room was very badly stained there was no chest of drawers or a chair. The floor board are very noisy as are the banging doors which started from 6am some mornings. It is a mile from the harbour down a very steep hill although the buses back up are regular. It is cheap for the overpriced area and seems popular with contractors and stag party's. If I go to the area again I would stay in Paignton just down the road where the restaurant and accomadation prices are half of Torquay's.

Having arrived late after horrendous journey i was greeted by the owner after my appologies for being late i was told sarcastically did i drive slowly to get there i was given the key to my room and had to ask where it was and was told up stairs on the right.The room was ok i've had better but did not match the photo's the facilities in the room were very average the tea making just about adeqate the room didn't smell fresh and the bedding was not changed in the three days we were there and there was only one toilet roll for the duration of our stay also the bed was not particulaly comfortable.In other hotels that i've stayed in the toiletries are normally changed day to day and the room freshend this was not the case here i will not be returning to this hotel again also breakfast is not included in the price you have to pay extra i dont contemplate what that would have been like, it was worse for my wife as she picked the hotel because of the pictures and it looked comfortable.The swimming pool was not available and it needed cleaning

Convenient to shops, pub & cafes, overall a friendly place to stay, I would highly recommend
