Quiet and private and feels as comfortable as home. The staff is very likeable and approachable, with kindness and knowledge of the entire town of Tomar. This was my first stay. I liked it enough to stay an extra (3rd) day, and even to return for a theater play only 2 days later and stay another overnight even though I live only 2 hours by train ride to Lisbon. I will now only stay at the Uniao or George's other hotel. There is no need to select any other for Tomar. Uniao is centrally located. The breakfast is quite divrse and very nice to have for the start of the day.

Tomar was not a destination for us but a convenient place to stay after seeing the Convento de Cristo, (well worth a visit). This hotel was the least expensive of our trip and was basic but not without charm. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We could hear footsteps around the old hotel in the evening but nothing interrupted our sleep. The room was clean and we had a good nights stay at a very reasonable price.
