Toledo is an ideal city to enjoy relaxing and cultural holidays. The historic center, where the hotel is located, is full of narrow and charming streets with a mixture among Arabian palaces, mosques and Christian temples, just like the main square of the city, called Zocodover, for its ancient Arabian commercial activities.
The Toledo churches and museums conserve ancient ruins which recall all of the historic Spanish periods. Moreover, the famous and magnificent Cathedral boasts original El Greco, Van Dick, Juan de Borgoña, Goya, Rafael and Rubens pictures.

This is a small place. There was some problems using the thermostat & the sole staff person on site couldn't understand our English. They use a pungent cleaning solution, lemon scented with chemical overtones, that was very cloying. If arriving by car be sure they have parking & get good directions. We spent an hour driving in circles. There was also a good deal of street noise until 2 AM. Mostly neighbors but the narrow street & stone buildings amplifies it.

Directions not very clear but found hotel on second try.Staff friendly and helpful, only hotel in 10 days in Spain that charged for WiFi - do not use it. It is cheaper and easier to have breakfast at nearby cafes than hotel. The location is excellent and car parking relatively cheap.

I enjoyed my stay very much. Despite being about the cheapest hotel listed for Toledo the hotel is of a similar standard to hotels in Madrid costing at least 50% more. The hotel is 5 to 10 minutes climb to the main square in Toledo, Zodocover, but then going anywhere in Toledo involves going uphill or downhill. I stayed two nights but next time I am going to stay longer!

The Hotel Sol was a good budget hotel within reasonable walking distance of the train station - not in the old part of town - but easily accessible to it. Our triple room was clean but small for three people. The design of the hotel means that there is a lot of noise echoing from people talking in the halls/up the stairs - especially the staff on the phone all day - making a 'siesta' impossible, however, once the staff leaves, the rooms were fairly quiet for sleep at night. Some carpets/less hard surfaces in the lobby and up the stairs along with staff's consideration of this problem and using quieter voices would improve this serious problem. Morning coffee was excellent and appreciated. For the money - a good basic hotel in Toledo. For poor sleepers, keep looking.

The building is very new and sunny, and the staff very friendly. The hotel isn't situated on a walkable distance of the turistic region of the town, but there is a good relation price-quality.The included breakfast was fresh and tasteful. We really enjoy the hotel.

I loved this hotel and the city of Toledo. The hotel personnel were very helpful with all of our requests. The quality of the hotel exceeded the price we paid.

This hotel was an excellent value overall. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Tip: If you have a rental car with a manual transmission, park outside the Bisagra Gate and walk to the hotel.

We were driving, and we could easily find our way to the hotel by following the signs on the road. The hotel provides parking (with charge) in the garage under the building and it was fairly easy to get in and out. The help at the desk was very friendly and helpful. You can easily get to the heart of the city by walking for about ten minutes. Everything is very tightly packed at the heart of the city, so I would say the location of the hotel is ideal for getting in and out. The building is recently renovated and has an IKEA like quality. The room and the bathroom were extremly small, but the layout made up for it. The room was very clean but a bit spartan. It is good value for money if all you look for is basic accomodation.

The man at the desk demanded payment immediately upon arrival. We had great problems with departure. We were leaving on Sunday morning. The original man assured us that there would be no problem in ordering a taxi to the train station in the morning on Sunday for the 9.30 am train to Madrid because somebody would be at the desk as of 8.30 am on Sunday. (This is one of those hotels that does not have 24-hour service at the desk.) When no-one was at the desk as of 8.50 on Sunday morning and no-one answered the emergency number at the desk,I had to run up to the cafe at the top of the street to ask for help. The owner up there was not forthcoming with help and bascially indicated he didn't care even though we had been his customers for two nights running(Spanish locals tended not to be at all helpful to us--maybe because we did not speak Spanish), however a security guard who was having coffee told me there was a taxi stand about 50 metres further down the big road--it was actually about 150 metres but I did eventually find the taxi stand. A taxi brought me back to the hotel and the girl who was supposed to be at the desk from 8.30 was ordering a taxi by phone as I arrived at 8.57 am. If we had missed that 9.30 train to Madrid, we might have missed further connections and that would have caused us serious inconvenience and other problems. The whole incident left us upset for the rest of the day. The blithe, indifferent, dismissive attitude of the staff was from from helpful and would suggest that travellers would do better to choose another place that might be more concerned for their welfare.

First of all, some taxis will not take you to the door of the hotel. We had to take our luggage down a hill to the hotel, which was not fun. Then we ended up with a marriage bed when we had requested a double. Sometimes in Spain, a double is considered a single small bed, but this bed was extremely small. The toilet in one of our rooms had a broken lid. The room looked pretty much like a hostel room--very sparse. Finally, you had to pay for internet access--5 euros for an hour.

Friendly and helpful staff, speak English, walking distance from centre of Toledo, garage(extra 10 euros/night). You pay for breakfast(not included in room's price) per item. Excellent stay for 1-3 nights. Recommend highly.

Hotel Sol was very clean, and the room and bath were nicely painted. The price was rather decent, but do not expect anything beyond the minimum: a quiet clean room and bath. The hotel is located just outside the center of town. We took a bus from the train station and walked down the main road to the hotel. It took about 10 minutes. The walk into town is a little steep and may be difficult for a person who has difficulty walking. Overall if you are on a budget and do not mind a small walk into town, this is a good place to sleep.

Nice basic hotel, very clean and tidy, slightly difficult to find but exceptionally well placed for access to the beautiful city of Toledo.(approx 100 metres to one of the entrance gates).Well worth a visit. Look out for a small restaurant "LOS PALACIOS" near the Jesuits Church for excellent breakfast and dinner reasonably priced.Go and enjoy, I would certainly return.

Good place for stay 1-3 nights with the main reason to visit all main historical place in the city (excellent location!!!) and only 20-30 min walk distance from train station… if you want to leave early morning. Good location if you want to return for a short brake or take a shower if you walk a lot and tired. It is for turists.

Inside the Bisgra gate and close to Puerto del Sol, the hotel was a short cab ride from the train station and an easy walk if you wanted to. A shortcut up the steep streets of Toledo brought you right into the middle of the action, or you could take the bus up the hill. Small shops right around the corner and the main TI was just a short hop outside the Bisagra gate. Places to park on the street at the bottom of the hill if you had a car. Newly renovated room in the back was the finest we had in six cities this trip. Staff was absolutely lovely and helpful. Would stay here again. As they say about Toledo, everything is uphill, so it is best to have your hotel on the down hill side of town in the evening when you return home tired.

It was our very first time at the hotel Sol and we only stayed one night. It was alright, but I wouldn't have liked to remain any longer, because the room window was sort of blocked by a wooden net that interfered with the view, which wasn't great anyway. The lights weren't particularly convenient, either blinding or too dim. The bathroom seemed brandnew, very clean and glittering and the beds were very comfortable. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel because the area wasn't very welcoming and there was a cheaper place up the street, but maybe we should have. The hotel is perfectly located, as it's a five minute walk to the heart of Toledo, but I found the picture on Venere didn't really reflect what the hotel looks like. I was expecting a place with more 'charme'. One last good thing about it : it's a non smoking place!

The hotel is located just outside the old city walls. Excellent location and close to all sights with asy access if you are driving. The hotel also has private parking garage for 10ec per day. The hotel looks much better than in the pictures. Rooms appear to be newly renovated. Rooms are very clean and nice and the location quiet. We did close the window and turn on the airconditining. The price was great!

One critical remark: the hotel is difficult to find. No signs point to this narrow and dead ending alley. Furthermore: a nice stay, in the immediate proximity of the old town.

Lovely hotel. Excellent location. It was strange having to pay for the full stay (2 nights) + a deposit on arrival. Everything was clean, the room was spacious, the bathroom was more than adequate & the aircon was in excellent working order. The only difficulty we had was finding the hotel in the first place! Better written directions & a much clearer map are needed. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but there is a bar 2 doors away so that wasn't a problem. I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

It's located in a very nice area, close to the main monuments and "barrios". If you arrive by car, you can park next to the hotel in calle don juan. You won't have to move the car until you are done with the check in. Having the chance to drop your baggage straight into the hotel without having to walk with it is something that I appreciate! The rooms are clean and nice, the girls at the reception are very nice and there is an hairdryer.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Finding the hotel with a car is difficult however, as their street does not actually go through to the main road on the west, as indicated on Google maps, but these roads are only joined by a set of stairs. Access to the hotel by car requires going around the main traffic circle and back down towards the bridge to the east along the highway, then turning off to the right and finding one's way to the hotel from the east side. Or park in the big parking area half way up the hill and walk down to the hotel and figure out your route from there. Staff will open garage door when contacted.

because we where late traveling (20 minutes after midnight) we almost could not get into the hotel, and by sheer luck got a phone number to ring. the room had a noisy machine nearby. as a hotel it was not very interesting, but we came to toledo for the town, not to stay in the hotel. on a whole, the hotel is reasonably priced and convenient if you look for a place in the old town of toledo.

In any tourist map or web site the Sol looks to be slightly out of the city - it isn't - its in a perfect location. Friendly staff and recently renovated clean rooms. Excellent value for money.
