Upside. Very clean, friendly and welcoming staff. Good rooms. Very good at replying to emails and meeting requests. Wonderful view of Toledo. Downside. Breakfast uninspiring (but very reasonably priced), swimming pool closed early September,

Two couples from Australia stayed in this hotel, which is situated out of town, but with great views of the old city. A tourist bus is a 5 minute walk away and leaves regularly. The room was comfortable with a balcony, but single beds were hard and while staff were friendly and helpful, their English was limited. The food in the restaurant is terrible and should be avoided at all costs.

The Abaceria is just out of Toledo city center, up in the hills south of town, in the area of the Cigarales or hacienda hotels. The view across the river valley to the lighted city is beautiful -- the same view as the El Greco painting. The hotel is easy to reach by car from the ring road around the old city and offers free parking. Park, then take a 10 minute cab ride back into town to Plaza Zocodaver or the escalators - tiny streets and steep hills are made for walkers. It's a wonderful city.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this Hotel and its very convenient location to the City of Toledo. Some of the critical comments provided by other correspondents did not do the Hotel justice. Access to and from the City by car is easy and efficient. We did not use public transport which might have presented a problem. Wonderful views of the fabulous medieval city skyline from the terrace and our room.

The photo of the front of the hotel does not do it justice. It was very nice inside. The view was great! The air conditioner was pretty good. The pool was closed, not opening until later in June, but it looked very nice. The wi-fi did not work, but they had a computer we could use without charge.

We have chosen the hotel because of the swimming pool. But it was closed till mid-June, because +33 C in the beginning of June didn't seem hot enought to start the pool season.

Instructions need to be clearer, even for a Spanish born citizen I had a hard time following the printed directions. Luckily there were several signs on the road to help find the hotel - we followed these instead of what the web site had.

The hotel is perfectly located (if you have car)in a quiet area which is in proximity to tourist attractions. Ample space and nicely decorated for public area. Good value for money. Room for imporovement is the guest rooms which should have been more spacious and better decorated. Staff is helpful. thanks!

I think we would have rated this hotel higher if we had stayed in the summer (because of the pool and grounds). The bar was uncomfortable and the cooking in the restaurant was amateurish although the ingredients were good. The staff were friendly (not always the case in Spain in our experience). If you are travelling by car, the location is excellent and the views great.

Hotel location exactly what we had hoped for, we had fabulous views from our balcony. Unfortunately we chose this hotel as a rest from touring, as it had a swimming pool and leisure areas. These had closed on 7th September, but there was no indication of this and email confirmation included use of pool. We cut our stay to one night only. The hotel appeared empty and the restaurant reflected this with poor food.

Toledo is a city to enjoy for itself or a nice stop to reach Barcelona - that´s what we did. We stayed 2 nights, and we promise ourselves we´ll be back. In the next visit to Toledo we won´t choose any other hotel. If you are looking for a nice hotel with a superb view over Toledo, and you´re affraid of the weather in Extremadura (hot and dry) try Albaceria and the swiming pool. Pay the extra for a room with a view and you´ll spend... plenty of time just looking. To the hotel managers a request: Don´t raise the price after this comment.

We bought loved the room and especially the terrasse ( and the view - you need to get the right room for that, I believe that there are three rooms with that kind of view) and we thought the hotel was terrific. Highly recommended. The command of basic English is a little weak for some of the staff but that's unimportant because they try to communicate anyway and succeed eventually.

Quality hotel, would recommend any time; location: outside, on the hill, very quiet - and just a few minutes by car to the historial center; breakfast: soso, but ok; pool: small, but nice. The big plus: phantastic view to the old city - wow!

The hotel is clean, the garage excellent, the surroundings and view great, but it is isolated from Toledo. The restaurant was closed on our first night (after we were told it would be open) and on the second night we were the only couple at the restaurant aside from a bus group, and so were told to wait until the bus people were fed,and then our food was almost inedible. So clean and well run, you need a car, and don't eat there.

I would highly recommend Hotel Abaceria to other travelers. The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking the historic city of Toledo. The rooms are quite large, and we were pleasantly surprised to find our room had a large, private, outdoor terrace/patio with great views of the city. If you have a rental car, the free hotel parking is a nice bonus. It's only a 5-10 minute drive to Toledo's city center, and you can either park outside the city walls and walk in, or drive inside the old city to a parking garage. The front desk staff we encountered were all multi-lingual and we had no trouble communicating with them in English. Since we visited in January, we didn't use the outdoor pool, but it sure looked nice!
