Hotel Château de Ternay - Ternay
Chateau De Ternay - Ternay
877-662-6988The chateau is located in a historic building and is the essence of elegance and sophistication. The decorations are beautiful, with large artwork, gorgeous dinner settings, and antique furnishings. To amuse oneself, take a guided tour of the property, where you can view the chapel, the moat, the tower, which dates back to the 15th century and more. One of the most popular activities for guests at the bed and breakfast is to learn the secrets of truffle hunting, which is done on the property using dogs and is extremely interesting to be a part of. Or visit any of the number of wineries located nearby in Bourgueil, Coteau du Layon, Quart de Chaume or Anjou.

Our best stay in Europe. This is countryside lodging at its best. It is out of the way (it is "countryside" after all). Loïc and Caroline are superb hosts. Helpful and knowledgable, they will assist you in every way. Anyone who does not book at least one of Caroline's evening home prepared meals will miss a real treat. No, it is more than a treat. It is a genuine dining experience. The Chateau has nearly 600 years of history and a tour with Loïc will bring it alive for you. Our practice was to daytrip to some of the many castles. chateaus, fortresses, and vinyards that are all over the area. Take a picnic lunch and revel in the "real" France of today and the France of Joan of Arc, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Henry II, and Richard the Lion Heart. It is all there for you to discover and enjoy. If you have not already figured it out, we will return there at the first opportunity. For a "night on the town", book a meal and drive a few kilometers across the French countryside to Pouancy and the Tresor Belge restaurant. Caroline and Loïc can arrange it. You will not be disappointed.

The chateau is well signposted on approach roads, and set in delightful parkland. The Count and Countess were most welcoming and helpful. Although the chateau is undergoing some renovations, this did not unduly affect my stay. The rooms (bedroom, dining and lounge rooms) have a 18th/19th century ambience, and undoubtedly some of the furniture is even older! Certainly a unique experience. The Count gave me a personal tour of the chateau, including the chapel which is well worth visiting. He also recommended a local restaurant (10 minutes away) which was excellent; and the nearby Chateau D'Oiron with its modern art. Modern bathroom. Highly recommended.

The room was delightful - spacious, well-appointed, lovely view from the large window. The bathroom was quite nice as well (although there was a problem with a broken toilet seat). The hosts were thoughtful, courteous, and knowledgeable and most eager to please. They were especially helpful in providing such services as making dinner reservations and suggesting points of interest to visit in the area. One afternoon we were served a very nice carafe of wine out in the garden, which was a welcome treat after a long day of driving and sightseeing. The setting is beautiful if you don't mind being out in the country some distance from the nearest towns, which means having to travel a bit for dinner or other services. Overall, we found the place charming and recommend it highly for anyone looking for a quaint getaway off the beaten path.

I was excited at the prospect of staying here and my expectations were fulfilled in every way. You experience something completely different from your everyday life and times. It's a journey to a different place and time. The hosts are down to earth and welcoming. The historic chateau has huge rooms with 14 foot ceilings; the windows seem about 10 feet tall with beautiful views of the rolling countryside. A unique experience richened by the patina of history and burnished with the romance of age. For the traveler who is looking for something different.

The count and countess were most charming, warm, and down to earth. Loic has a wonderfully dry wit, and the "tour" of the chateau was a superb treat! Caroline made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Our room was HUGE! Please remember this is out in the country, so there were a few beetles around, but nothing that disturbed or frightened us. An additional treat was the beautifully prepared and delicious dinner we had one night! We will return!!

A night here is certainly an experience. Beautiful Chateau, grand rooms, and the history of the chateau was everpresent. We recieved a personally guided tour of the chateau by the count de ternay, and learnt about the history and times of the chateau. Wonderful. If not having dinner at the chateau, closest town is a 10 minute drive.

Chateau de Ternay is a beautiful and peaceful place in the Loire country, Our hosts were very welcoming and made us quite at ease. Finding Ternay was tricky, even with Google maps, but people in surrounding villages are also extremely friendly and helpful. If you arrive in the afternoon, you will be happy if you are armed with a good bottle of wine, some bread and cheese.

In their aristocratic simplicity and charm, Loïc and Caroline de Ternay are the perfect hosts and their impressive and beautiful home cannot be more wonderful. If you want to experience what to live in a private Loire Valley castle really is, I cannot recommend a better château. It does not feel like a hotel, but like a home in which the same family has lived for centuries preserving the traditions with the outmost care and love.

We had a fantastic time at the Chateau de Ternay! We were welcomed and made to feel at home. The castle was beautiful and the room was very nice. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a nice quiet getaway. The only thing I would warn people is to bring cash because they do not take credit cards. This caught us off gaurd b/c we weren't carrying this much cash. We had to drive 25 min round trip to get cash and return.

Our stay at the chateau was fabulous! Our room was beautiful and it was the biggest bed I have ever slept in. Modern bathroom with heating. I would definitely recommend dining with the Count and Countess as they have loads of interesting stories and the food was very nice. Their ability to speak English was also a bonus.
