Hotel Il Gabbiano - Termini Imerese

A nice property. The Venere webpage gives the strong impression that wireless internet is gratis- it is not. I asked at the front about it, the manager apologized for (my) misunderstanding and offered 2 hours for free. A++ customer service there. All staff friendly and professional, hotel is nice, clean, modern and professional. Good espressos (free) at the bar and a nice continental b'fast. Downsides- Our rooms were at the rear, over the parking lot. VERY noisy scooters and delivery trucks starting early and all day. Hotel shares building with a beverage distributor- lots of trucks. The city of Termini Imerese doesn't have much to offer. It's a worn down port city and like most Sicilian towns, the historical parts have largely been torn down and replaced with ugly pre-fab apartments. There is not ONE decent restaurant there. Il Gabbiano is located close to the water, but not water that you want to go near. Gross industrial port area. The closest beach you'll want to visit is at least 30 minutes away. If you can, spend the extra cash and stay in Cefalu.

As others have said, the location is not great: several km from Termini and no access to the sea, despite proximity. The hotel is spacious, and the view to the sea and Termini good.

Not bad hotel, but it is located in the lower portion of town, away from the main center. Take a trip to Caccamo, about twenty minutes south of town, to visit the castle. Its relatively cheap (a few euros) and pretty neat. A nice diversion if you have nothing else to do!

The gentlemen at the front desk were all remarkable. They were very professional, helpful and very polite...nothing seemed to be to much to ask of them and they seemed to respond to everyone's needs very quickly. The hotel is located in an area of "Rest and tranquility". An excellent match of what I expected compared to the price I have payed.

Clean, friendly staff. Helpful when asking where the next town on itenary was on map. Staff spoke okay English (we spoke NO Italian). Only downside,Il Gabianno snack bar ONLY had potato chips and soda. Although there was a menu of other items standing on the snack counter, we were told they were not available. Had to walk about 1 mile for food--nothing very close. Roads were busy, not lit and no sidewalks in some parts. Getting food was difficult.
