We arrived when a wedding was going on so staff were fairly busy. The room was quite basic, but adequate, with a private balcony overlooking the car park. First floor, no lift. No English on TV. Continental breakfast was good quality, though limited choice. We were asked three times if we wanted to have dinner, but had read reports of the high prices so we ate elsewhere beforehand. We were charged 10 euros for a small beer and a large orange juice, which though not outrageous is certainly not cheap. No minibar, but 2 free bottles of water in the room. This is primarily a restaurant, the accomodation just an add-on.

We liked the place. Nice people, small hotel. BUT was terrible to learn that air conditioner was not on until we arrived late in the evening. It was +29 on the time of our arrival and only few degrees less when leaving in the morning. Terrible!! Couldn´t sleep at all due to this fact!! If wanted, they could have helped by keeping air conditioner on during the day. Then, they wanted to organized taxi service for us. Asked if 40€ is ok. We agreeed although felt it is a lot. In the Orio airport needed to pay 48€ for the driver! So it was eventually very expensive and unconfortable stay. Next time we will take pricy hotel, closer to the airport!

For an overnight stay it was excellent. Friendly personal but not english speaking. Close parkingplace, as we arrived late from Orio al Serio airport all dinnerguest were leaving so it was fairly quiet. We will use this hotel next time we travel to northern Italy.

I was most interested in finding a hotel near Bergamo airport that offers gluten free meals. I was not disappointed, they understood and catered for my needs very well. Unfortunately they did not stock any gluten-free beers. More generally they did not have drinking chocolate for our children and simply melted chocolate in a cup and charged about £4 per cup. On a more positive note our stay was most pleasant and their gluten free tiramisu was a real treat.

Be very wary of the price of eating the hotels restaurant. We were very shocked paying the bill the next day. The shower didn't have hot water, a problem not fixed as we dont speak Italian, and they dont speak English.

This was a pilgrimage by my wife and myself to the Basilica of St Ambrose to mark my retiral from teaching for forty-odd years in St Ambrose High School, Coatbridge. As well as the city of Milan, Lugano in Switzerland, Lake Como and Lake Garda are all within easy striking distance if you have a car. Il Leone d'Oro was a wonderful place to stay. This is very much a family run hotel and three generations of the family are very present. All are part of the welcoming committee. The food is delightful. You can dine a la carte on the freshest and finest of fish and vegetables or, as an alternative, feast on pizzas and calzones roasted in a traditional oven. The whole establishment is spotlessly clean - the bed-linen was changed three times during our five night stay. One point worth noting is that, for visitors landing at Bergamo (Olio Seriate) airport, Telgate is on the Venice side of the autostrada - not in the Milan direction. What a marvellous place!

Welcomed by friendly competent staff. Our evening meal was absolutely wonderful. A fitting end to a wonderful holiday. Bergamo however is about 19 kms from Telgate where the hotel is situated, so we missed experiencing the walled city which we believe is beautiful.

The hotel is located in a busy village with shops, Cafe's and petrol station near by and easy access to the motorway and airport. The staff and local people are extremely friendly and very welcoming. The meals are of a high standard compared to other hotels we have been to. The staff helped us to plan a trip to Venice which went without any major problems, though note that English is not their native tongue and can be a little difficult for them to understand fully (learn basic Italian a must). The rooms are a decent size with adequate space, storage of cloths, desk, TV and a continental bathroom and shower. A minor snag was no bath, but this did not affect the holiday on jot. The room was air conditioned which was needed to cool the room during the evening. This hotel was well priced, an enjoyable stay, especially for its location.

Family made us very welcome. Even cooked us a fresh pizza "on the house", even though we arrived around 9.30pm and said we had been "snacking" in the service stations and did not really need a meal. Very handy for Bergamo airport. Directions for finding the hotel are a bit vague if you exit the motorway when heading west (ie towards Milan) - but we found it eventually

Charming hotel/restaurant that gave us a lovely welcome on our arrival late in the night. Location in relation to Bergamo Airport was great. The only problem we encountered was that the beds were cold - the heating had not been on long enough beforehand for winter weather.

Your hotel was our first contact with an Italian entity. It was an excellent experience and raised the standard for others hotels. Your restaurant is also excellent. The most important element was the service at both the hotel and restaurant. I don't remember the name of the waitress, a Rumanian woman. She was outstanding.

The hotel Il Leone d'oro was a fine one-night stay outside of Bergamo. The desk clerk was helpful and gracious, the room was clean although somewhat spartan and the restaurant was good with a friendly staff. The hotel has a lovely little garden out back but the surrounding properties lacked charm (elementary school, non-descript buildings). It was a little further from central Bergamo than the description led me to believe but since we were only in the area one day it didn't make a big difference.

Absolutely fantastic accommodation, I would definitely recommend it to friends. The only drawback was that being our first time in italy, the exact location was a bit of a mystery to us, and in hindsight I would have hired a car, rather than relying on taxi's, trains, etc.

I found the hotel to be in good surroundings. unfortunately I did not get accurate information on the distance between the hotel and the airport. it can be very difficult to travel to bergamo if you want to keep to a budget. And the lunch menu was very expensive. We paid 30 euro per person for an average lunch.

More of a business hotel than a tourist place, but we were staying there in order to attend the Grand Prix in Monza. Efficiently run hotel with good breakfast choices and someone to make a good cappucino at the bar. This isn't a tourist area so few people speak english, but as travellers we should learn enough Italian to get through. Telgate is an old Italian town, again with little english facility, but warm hearts, great food and a reguard of tourists as a bit of a novelty.
