Hotel Vila Galé Albacora - Tavira

Once we had found Vila Gale ALBACORA Which our gps in car only could dirrect us to vila Gale in centre of Taviera.As we drove up the paved road we didnt even think we would find Hotel you need signs at bottom of road saying Vila Gale not Hotel!!!!!!!!!!.The hotel was excellant and as expected. but could do with some upgrading in places in rooms ,a little tired !Staff brilliant ,food good grounds ect perfectly looked after with care from hard working staff.

Not easy to find. The breakfast was cold especially the egg omelette and repetative, the toaster took forever. Taveling to and from the Hotel was difficult without a car

Great hotel, lousy entertainment!

To start with, we were there in November, so the price for the room was 40ish Euros. This is an astonishing bargain for such an hotel. My ranking Quality vs. Price would not have been the same should I had paid 150ish Euros per night. The Vila Galé Albacora is a very very nice place with nice and relatively diversified infrastructures. Really charming and quiet. The only drawback was that the food was not wonderful but there were only a dozen of couple in the hotel and therefore, the activity was so limited that they had reduced food services ... I do however recommend this hotel. Eric.

The Vila Gale Albacora is a beautiful hotel with facilities that seemed especially geared to families, as there were large numbers of children and babies in and around the hotel areas. I was traveling with my grown daugther and were surprised at the extent of young children at the hotel. The grounds are really lovely and the rooms are large and exquisite with your own outdoor patio. But, looking at some of the locations, you might get a room with a different view and not be as lucky as we were. The buffet breakfasts were wonderful and plentiful..more than expected. There were only two things that bothered us, one being if you want to use the lounge chairs by the pool, you had to rent towels for the day (3 Euros each) and that should have automatically been given out to the guests of the hotel- to be turned in after using it, as in most beach resorts. We would have bought towels, if we stayed longer and then left them as we were traveling throughout Portugal and had no need for them. The other was driving into the hotel from Tavira center, there is such an odor before you get to the Vila Albacora from either the fish canning or cheese factory that was simply terrible. It never was around the hotel once you got there, but the road along the route was just awful. We were concerned that it was pervasive, but it was not the case. The Vila Gale Albacora is a beautiful place and we really wound up enjoying our stay very, very much. I definitely could see returning there, and to Tavira again.

After a disappointing start when, on arriving at 2 p.m.(official check-in time)after a long drive we were told that our room would not be available until 3 p.m., we had an enjoyable stay. The rooms are not over-large, although having all the facilities one would expect, but their design looks like a 1960's holiday camp chalet layout - probably the sea-view ( at a suppplement) rooms are better. Having said that, the facilities -indoor and outdoor pools, courtesy bus into Tavira, private boat to the beach, restaurants etc. are excellent and the staff couteous and friendly. We would return.

An excellent hotel in somewhat unusual surroundings. On driving from Tavira to the hotel (approx 2Km)we did wonder where we were going as we went through salt marshes & salt beds. On arriving at the hotel our doubts were removed as we entered a first class environment with excellent food. We had a very relaxing stay.

Very enjoyable stay

The map provided on the website was not very useful. The hotel itself was fabulous, especially the gardens. A bit isolated from the town, but we did not find a need to leave. The boat shuttle to the beach was convinient and easy to use. The resturant served good food, and had a great view from some of the tables. We would definately go back.

We really enjoied Vila Gale Albacora and we recommend it.
