This hotel is trying to be bigger than it is. It does not, in our view, merit a 4 star classification, nearer 2-3 compared to others. We paid for a suite and the quality of plumbing and size was not in line with the description. Appearing in Michelin as "no restaurant" it does infact provide dinner. One night we dined at the hotel, the other in Beaugency. There was no comparison and no excuse for burnt barbequed monkfish or partly cremated vegetable cake at a substantial cost. Service was very slow and clearly the restaurant is to be avoided.

This hotel did not meet our standard, due to limited services in the rooms. Room was vaste but essential featues of a 4 stars hotel -such as mini bar and airco -were not present. Breakfeast cost also high and not included in room rates.

I just loved this hotel my husband was a little disappointed in the room but the gardens certainly made up for that. This was our first time in france. We had diner at the hotel which we thought was excellent and not expensive not a big menu but that suited us. We were welcomed at our table by Madame Loubiere very friendly, helpful with menu as we were sruggling with our phrase book to decipher menu.Would definately go back again if for longer would ask for bigger room.

A very welcoming hotel in the countryside, exactly what we were looking for ! Staff was very nice and knew all about the surrrounding castles and other places worth visiting. And on top of it, very quiet in the morning. Hotel Restaurant has a short menu but all food was very good. Perfect for a WE or short stay in the Loire Valley.

Very good communication from staff who helped us book a dinner, but restaurant was not child friendly and rather formal. Room was a decent size but rather tired and smelled musty - overall opinion was that this hotel did not really live up to 4-star rating - decor in need of updating

Rather a tired hotel. Beautiful surroindings but the acconmmodation more suited to the 2 star designation rather than 4 star hotel

We spent four fabulous days at La Tonellerie, staying in one of the garden rooms and breakfasting every morning under the huge Horse Chestnut tree in the courtyard garden. Madame Pouey pays great attention to detail and comfort of her guests and this is reflected in the attitude of all who work there. Nothing is too much trouble, from afternoon tea in the garden to recommendations and reservations for restaurants. This was our first visit to La Tonnellerie and we certainly plan on returning to see more of the beautiful Loire Valley. Tavers is a charming village with it's quirky double striking clock chimes, and the centre of Beaugency is lovely. It's just over a week since we returned home and I wish we had had a pound (or even a Euro) for every time we've referred to our stay or wished ourselves back there. My husband and I are both in our late forties and I'm not sure I'd like to describe us as a 'mature couple' but nor are we young, so I would recommend La Tonnellerie to anyone who likes comfort, atmosphere, quality and good but unobtrusive service.

The hotel is situated in a very nice and quiet village not far from Beaugency. Excellent quality except for the quietness in the room - the walls are very thin and you can hear water flowing through plumbing system.

This hotel was the final stop in a five day trip to France (for a friends wedding) which included travelling 1700 miles. This hotel was the perfect place to end our trip. Some people have commented that from the outside it looks disapointing, as it looks like part of a terrace house right on the road (but remember this a quiet French village, not a city centre). However once you step through the doors it is like walking into another world. Clean and charming public areas, a restaurant which cooks food "to die for", and our suite was absolutely perfect. Clean, spacious, and well maintained with an air of luxury about it. The courtyard garden and pool area really complete the hotel and provide that extra area for relaxation. My wife and l have already contemplated staying there again when we next visit France. Also, do not worry if you speak little French, the staff are exceedingly helpful and most know a little English. l would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Quality of dinner was poor, a better cooking would make this nice location much more attractive.

My daughter and I found La Tonnellerie to be charming and welcoming, with an absolutely beautiful courtyard. Dinner in the courtyard was a gastronomic experience. We just regret we couldn't stay longer.
