Hotel Lauria - Tarragona

1. directions to parking not explained clearly and too much valuable touring time lost. 2. Unfriendly attitude when we complained that rooms smelt of cigarettes; although it was changed !! 3.Good access to the Rambla where all the action is;

A very good, inexpensive hotel in an excellent location.

The reception staff were very unfriendly. Our room was next to a service room and on our third night we had little sleep as the staff in the room were banging doors etc. We were reimbursed however with one nights stay as I complained at 6am to the Manager. The female receptionist whom I firstly complained to said she spoke very little English and passed me by phone to the Manager. However, when we left the hotel she asked us in good English where we were going to next, where we were from and what train stop to get off at in Girona !!! When booking the hotel we were under the impression that the breakfast was inclusive in the price, however the Manager said not, so after eating breakfast at the Hotel on the first day which we thought was inclusive, we went elsewhere to a cheaper cafe opposite. Rooms not particularly clean, especially the floors. Room smelt heavily of smoke.

Excellent value for the money. Small but centrally located. Close to the ocean and the main rambla. Parking garage.

Our major problem with this stay was that the room had no ventaliation - no windows (actually, a bricked-over one), and no fan, no working AC (almost spring - not too hot, just no available fan) - so the room got stuffy fast. We were not told that the double -bed rooms did not have a window, while the twin rooms did. Wish we had known. We would like to visit Tarragona again, but probably would not stay at this establishment.
