Hotel Astari - Tarragona

I spent one night in Tarragona with my wife and son. The Astari provided good value, including an 8 euro breakfast. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. My only reservation was noise in the plumbing.

A very nice hotel, which looked in need of some sprucing up and modernising, located approximately a 10minute stroll from the main town centre. Buffet breakfast at 7euros each was more than adequate especially as there were days hardly anyone was there (early May ??). Close to the Playa Miracle (maybe not the best beach in the Costa Daurada)very quiet and practically deserted. The location ensured quiet afternoons by the pool after a morning on the beach. A 15minute walk to the station and an hour journey to bustling Barcelona gave the best of both worlds. Plenty of eateries in the town along the Rambla Nova and an excellent little cafe across the road from the hotel (bocadilla de jamon and a beer for 3 euros). Visit the Old Town and stroll the Roman ruins. Reception staff will assist with your plans and advise on where to go and what to see.If this hotel was located in the centre of town you would no doubt pay a lot more.

There was some problem with the climate system, and the room was really hot! Fortunately the clerk was very kind and competent, and he moved us to another room instantly. Besides that, it is a nice place, located near the ancient city walls and Roman theater. If you ask for a room in a high floor, you'll be able to see the nice Tarragona bay.

What a pity to see the building in backyard of the Astari hotel. Ten years ago there vere quiet gardens......

Hotel is tired looking. We were placed in newer part but could see the balconies of the older part and was able to see the difference. Knew that the hotel needed updating.

Rooms and public areas lovely and very comfortable, nice views, kids were very impressed with the range of freebies. We ate in the restaurant one night when the weather dictated and found the food well cooked and not ridiculously priced, if not very adventurous. Location is convenient for the beach and the old town, a good half mile from Rambla Nova and the railway station. The hotel was covered with scaffolding and there was a construction site behind the hotel but we weren't troubled by noise at all. We were very glad we had decided to stay in Tarragona: roman ruins excellent, beach handy, Port Aventura theme park good if you like that sort of thing, Barcelona well worth a visit.

A pleasant clean hotel with a nice large pool. A better location than we anticipated, being a 10 min walk to the old town. It was however,a pity the bar was not open in the afternoons for snacks/drinks. All in all a nice start to our holiday.

This hotel has a lovely swimming pool, but the weather was too bad to enjoy it... Nice breakfast. A little far from the city centre.

Receptionist was very good and helpfull. Restaurant limited for dinner ok for breakfast, reasonable value for money. Not too far to walk to old town in cool weather.

Superior quality room, surprisingly decent restaurant, good service in general, let down a little by shabby exterior and surroundings. Free internet access from one computer in lobby. 15 minute walk from town centre and 10 minute stroll from a sandy beach. Secure car parking was a huge bonus. On the whole, excellent value for money.

The room was the main draw back, small with no drawers to put clothes in, carpet dirty. Fortunately,a small balcony made the room less claustrophobic. Breakfast was good and it was an advatage that it could be eaten by the pool if required. It was the room that left it wanting.

The hotel was overall a good facility, we were able to find it without a problem and the car park was an added bonus - very reasonable. The room was in need of updating - the bathroom was clean, but the room itself left a little to be desired. It was a short walk to town - great views

This was my first time at the Astari Hotel, but I think not the last time. The pool is excellent.The furniture is a bit old-fashioned, but all-in-all we enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel for the price. Very clean and spacious with a nice breakfast. Perfect location for walking to the sites and museums. We enjoyed our stay and would go back.

Very good restaurant. Breakfast was overpriced, so recommend doing that on your own. Staff very helpfull and nice.

Exterior lets the hotel down. Very nice rooms. Friendly staff. Location is about 7 minutes walk from the Husa Imperial Taracco. Would stay here again if Husa was booked out. But the Husa is the best hotel in Tarragona!

It was a very quiet room, clean and spacious. However, when we arrived after along road trip, the hotel had no water. We had to wait for 45 min for the water to turn back on. This was the only draw back.

The hotel was very clean and located within easy walking distance from the beaches, shops and rail station. Breakfast was very good value with an excellent choice and staff were helpful. Would use this hotel again.

I appreciated the closeness to a very nice beach and easy access to the Congress Center Very good choice and quality of food for breakfast

Very good for our en-route stop-over, especially with the private car park facility. Hotel very clean and comfortable and a good value buffet breakfast. Pity about our room though, with noisy work going on at the villa next door: with more thought the management could have planned a better room to solve this inconvenience. Otherwise, fine!

Rooms were large enough-nice pool and breakfast area- surroundings a little noisy due to building work but nothing to worry about. staff v helpful. breakfast good-location close to old part of town-5/10 min walk.

Sehr positiver Eindruck,Garagenstellplätze (gut für Durchreisende mit Gepäck im Auto),sehr gutes Frühstück,grosse Zimmer mit individueller AC,allerdings ziemlich weit zum Zentrum.

Good location, walking distance to all major attractions. 10 min. to beach rabbassada, which is very nice. Only 2 receptionist were able to speak any other language than spanish, with the rest of the staff comunication was extremly limited.Breakfast in the restaurant very good, but not included in roomrate. 6.60€ per person. Dinner not at all worth it, tiny portions,no taste and bad service. Better go to Jeronimo´s in Placa de la Font. Great food and service! Because of the excellent location we would come again though, and Tarragona itself is well worth a visit!Very beautiful!

A very good choice for inexpensive sejourning in Tarragona. Clean, spacious and tranquil room, nice bathroom with very rich complement of free toilet items, good quality and varied buffet breakfast, kind and solicit employees, great price. Would recommend it to friends.

Our overall stay was great (the hotel wasn't very full), the only thing we found not so great was the staff didn't seem to care much about anything and the dining room staff seemed new and lacked training. Happy travelling.
