Hotel Villa Belvedere - Taormina

Incomparable position and view. staff always available and very kind.

The first room proposed to us was not nice, small, with 2 separated beds and a very dated bathroom, but with a balcony. So we asked another room which was much bigger but without balcony. The view on the sea was fantastic nevertheless and the gardens are wonderful. Bad point for the parking, far too small and very messy to take our car back (15 min)! Nice breakfast and good welcome. All in all a nice hotel but in need of refurbishment cause rooms look really too too old !

The hotel was in an excellent location,our ro had a fabulous view. The gardens and pool area were superb. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming at all times.

Hotel Villa Belvedere was a beautiful oasis of calm-- especially after the difficulties of negotiating our way through the streets of Taormina to arrive there. But evidently that's always a bit of a problem in Taormina. The hotel grounds were on many levels (and therefore perhaps not ideal for families with very young children). But they were beautifully lush with flowers and fun to explore. Our room had a lovely private terrace that was very peaceful. The only thing that was less than perfect was that the room needed airing out. Because the room was a bit off on its own, I suspect it had not been used much that early in the season. Overall, I wish we had had more than 2 nights there and would happily return.

The size of the bathroom (incredibly small) was not acceptable and not in line with the price we paid. According to the floor plan, 2 bedrooms should be avoided or quoted with a cheaper price for this reason. The quality of the breakfast is just OK. The rest was great.

We were in Taormina for 3 nights. Gorgeous place to stay.....This place is family owned and operated...been in the family since 1892....very friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect and in walking distance to everything. I will definitely stay here again.

Terrace and sea view mandatory to enjoy this facility. Very nice place at walking distance from the center, no need to be embarassed with a car all the time! car rental available 300 m from the hotel for 60 euros a day if you wish driving out.

Conveniently located at the center of the old city. Pleasant atmosphere, helpful receptionists. Parking available. We had a room with a french balcony which had a great view to the Mediterranean sea.

Difficult hotel to find even with GPS as one way street! However location excellent as walking distance to old city.

I booked this hotel via Venere simply because I had used Venere before and am happy with the set-up that requires no deposit up front and payment at the end of ones stay. Despite this and simply because I am a "belt & braces" type of person, I e-mailed the hotel after making the Venere booking to arrange a transfer from Catania Airport and asked for confirmation that the Venere booking had been accepted. The hotel confirmed both items almost immediately. My holiday consisted of a seven day stay between the 6th and 13th of September 2009. My wife and I, both in our eighties, are used to travelling and have spent many holidays in Italy but this was the first time that my wife had been to Sicily. I myself was last here in 1943 although the nearest I ever got to Taormina was Adrano and Bronte, both about seventeen miles to the East. We used the hotel's transfer from Catania Airport and although it might have been more expensive than just picking a taxi at the Airport we have always found it comforting to be greeted by someone with a large card bearing one's name. The taxi driver, Carmelo, was courteous, friendly, helpful and spoke English and the taxi itself was immaculate. We used the same driver to take us later in the week to Reggio Di Calabria via the Ferry. This trip was a purely selfish one to re-enact the previous ferry crossing I had made in September 1943. On arrival we were delighted to find that although we had booked for a room with a balcony we had been upgraded, at no extra charge, to a room with a terrace (Room 29) and this was to completely "make" our stay. I cannot speak too highly of the reception staff, starting with the proprietor himself and although I personally never needed it, all spoke perfect English. The room itself was very comfortable, albeit slightly cramped, but I was pleased to see that our bed had small side lockers despite the fact that on some web-sites these were not shown.
