Hotel Sirius - Taormina

Our first trip to Taormina will never be forgotten. This is a fabulous hotel cascading down the side of the mountain w/majestic views, a great pool, wonderful food poolside and restaurant, and a most welcoming staff. Pictures do not do this hotel justice. Would have expected to pay more for such a great location. Walk to everything! Bring comfortable shoes, its the only way to get around. No way we would ever consider staying anywhere else!

Beautiful surroundings, not very spacius rooms,furniture a little bit old in some cases a bit broken (bathroom door), I advice to make a restoration of the rooms furniture, in order to give more sense for a 4 stars hotel.

Location excellent - stay here not near the beach - it is much nicer near the town. Great hotel would certainly go back

Spent 6 nights at Sirius in July 2008. Very pleased overall. The room did not have a sea view but we did not specifically ask for one when we book so it might be a good idea when you book. The 'balcony' door led into sort of a garden with a table and 3 chairs overlooking the see. Breakfasts were too basic for our tastes, nothing wrong with them but they could use a bit of variety. The staff spoke excellent English and they were very helpful. The rooms were always clean and the air conditioning worked well. TV could be bigger but why on Earth would you watch in during your vacation in Sicily? The hotel is also very close to the Center of Taormina and there is a convenient cable car which you can take if you want to go to the beach. It takes you straight there within a few minutes for 3.50 Euros including a return ticket. I would not recomment this hotel, however for the disabled, since there's a steep driveway you have to 'climb' to leave the hotel premises. Cheers.

Beautiful Hotel with wonderful views from all public rooms and some guest rooms. Do ask for a room with a view - the rooms are all the same price. However air-conditioning not working although temperature up to 30degrees. We were told it wasn't hot enough for a/c but had it at a 3* hotel (less than half the price) in Cefalu the previous week. This meant windows had to be left open at night so the midges came in and the dog next door could be heard barking. There is a steep drive and steps down to the hotel so not suitable for people who can't manage this each day. A bell at the top of the drive and steps would be useful so that a porter could help with luggage on arrival as they did on departure. One more thing - do not go to this hotel if you want to practice your Italian - at reception I was asked why I was speaking Italian when I could speak English! I must say the waiters did make up for this unfriendliness.

The hotel location is great. One of the cleanest hotels we have stayed in. Staff very helpful and friendly. The first three nights of our stay were fine as we had mature couples on either side of our room. On the 4th night a couple with a small child checked in at midnight, were somewhat quiet until 2AM at which time we could hear the child whining and coughing and the parents talking. In one of the reviews of the hotel there was a comment about being able to hear everything in the adjoining rooms-I had no idea it would be that bad. In fact our Sat night event caused us to check out of the hotel a day early. The hotel manager was very aplogetic, offered to change our room etc, but by this time our stay had been ruined, along with our night's sleep,so we continued to our next stop. Since we had booked thru Venere, the mananger was not able to refund the one night we did not stay. Can you do anything about a refund for that night?? Thanks Anna Marie Berg

Great location within walking distance of the main town centre and the Greek Theatre. Beautiful pool with a lovely snack bar beside it, the food there was perfect and was cooked to order. Beautiful breakfast room with extensive choice of buffet. Went to the opera outside one night and that was a lovely experience. Highly recommend this location.

Annual holiday Jnr excet room view was spectacular would recommend and will make a return visit to this hotel overall staff very friendly and helpful

Nice located within walking distance of theatre and center. Room with superb seaview, owner very kind & helpfull, parking 6€ a day ...breakfast simple ( i.e. no fresh fruits)...would stay again

This hotel was fantastic, so much so that we returned to it at the end of two weeks travelling even though the beds were a bit hard! The staff were lovely, very friendly. The hotel is ideally situated within walking distance of the bus station, just off the main road, quiet with beautiful views; easy walking distance of the centre of Taromina; there is a fee for car parking (about 6 euros per day). Lots of choice for breakfast including museli and fresh yoghurt. Even if your room doesn't have a sea view there is a comfortable lounge or you can sit by the pool. There is a very steep slope and steps to get to the hotel and I wouldn't advise it for anyone with mobility difficulties.

Fantastic location relative to the town centre (5 minutes walk but equally the hotel is very quiet). There was a slightly more mature clientele staying when we were there and we didn't sample the hotel food, mainly because the town has so many restaurants to offer. Parking is available and essential as the town has limited parking areas (there's a steep spiral decent down to the parking area). However, on arrival don't worry if you can't find a slot, just leave your car anywhere and hand the car keys to reception and they will park it for you. Likewise, if you want an early start in the morning inform reception and they will ensure your car is free to move out of the parking area. You need an early start for visiting Etna as it can cloud over as the day goes on. The hotel is very close to the cable car ride down to the beach (2 minute walk). We did have trouble finding the hotel based on their map but if you come off the motorway head to the centre of town you come across a small square in the centre (where the main pedestrian section starts), here you will see a big sign showing all the names of the hotel. Drive to the top of the square (in front is the pedestrian area) and you need to follow the road round to the left. You pass the cable car entrance on the left (as it's a one way street), pass a petrol station on the left and immediately after that turn left and straight ahead is the entrance to the hotel car park. If you get lost ask directions to the cable car, as the hotel's a few metres away. Only complaint - we were in a triple room where the windows were so small it made the room very dark, even though it was glorious sunshine outside. However, the pool is lovely, as are the views, I'd recommend it.

This hotel is excellent. We flied to Catania, and took but to Taormina. Sirius Hotel locates only a few steps from the bus terminal. It's also very near to the shopping street, about 5 minutes walking only. Beautiful sea view from all the windows, the balcony and the breakfast hall. Although the room is a little bit cold at night, the staff did their best to help us. I will definitely go back to Taormina and live in this hotel again.

The hotel is in a great location - especially if you take the bus (etna line) from the airport the station is 100 feet from the hotel - the pool was clean - the rooms clean and made up every day - its also a few feet from the lift down to the beaches - the hotel offers a shower area near the pool ( to use after checkout if you stay at the beach) ask for towels - great location for the price - the staff was friendly

Spent two beautiful days at Christmas 2004 in Taormina. This hotel is by far the best deal in town. For a price which is just a tad above the smallest Pensione around, you end up with a room with your own private balcony, overlooking the sea. The common areas are large, furnished with character, miles away from tasteless hotels, and with even more stunning views. This is a Hotel you can really enjoy, not just a place to sleep, which is a lot for the price charged. Do not expect much of a breakfast though - that is the only item where the hotel tries to save money, and quite disappointed me. Rooms quality matches higher priced hotels easily. Just 5 minutes walk from the busy old town. I will go back. Suggestion: Avoid Taormina in teh summer. There is way too many tourists to even see the place around. Restaurants are vastly overpriced, rather try the local 'Alimentari' (food shop) for wonerful bread and pepper caciotta. If you look closely, you will also find an indoor public market open in the mornings.

Das Hotel Sirius ist ein neues, excellent geführtes Haus mit deutschsprechendem, sehr freundlichen und hilfsbereitem Personal. Die Zimmer sind sehr großzügig und schön eingerichtet. Der Balkon glich einem Ballsaal und der Ausblick war atemberaubend. Die Lage des Hotels ist auf der Internetkarte sehr gut angegeben und es ist relativ gut zu finden. Es liegt am Hang mitten in der Stadt und die Fußgängerzone, also das Zentrum, ist ca. 7 min zu Fuß gut zu erreichen. Das Frühstückbüffet ist sehr gut. Das Hotel ist eine Empfehlung wert.

Great Hotel, Other then the bird droppings at the pool area, had 2 of them land on me. Great location right next to the bus station, a 5 minute walk to downtown.. Great views, nice patios, large room and bathroom. Would definitly return to this hotel.

We chose Sirius from an Internet search without any other real information from the resort. It was a lucky choice - a really excellent hotel with very good facilities, pleasant and helpful staff, spotlessly clean and extremely well placed in the town for getting about. The bus station is about 50 metres, the cable car is about 300 metres and the town centre is only a 5 -10 min walk. The location is absolutely spectacular with views across the Straits of Messina from all the public rooms and a good many of the bedrooms. The swimming pool is small, but deep enough for diving and is a welcome alternative to the beach if you haven't got much time to go down by cable car, or after a day sightseeing. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Sirius

The manager forgot to order a taxi, so that we had a two hour wait at the airport on arrival. The duty receptionist was very apologetic, but we had no further recognition of this mistake from the hotel. The air conditioning was turned off, we were told, if the temerature dropped below 25C - not what we expected - air conditioned room should mean just that, without qualification. The staff were very pleasant, and the hotel delightfully situated - it might be worth noting that there is a steep ramp out of the hotel which older visitors could find difficult. The food was of middling quality and variety, and there were no prices given for evening meals for visitors taking bed and breakfast. The pool facilities were good and very clean, as was the entire hotel. All in all a pleasant place to stay, well located for the centre of Taormina, yet away from traffic noise.

Excellent hotel with great views and helpful staff. Will definitely return.

Need to bring your luggage down a flight of stairs to get to the elevator...would be hard for elderly or disabled. Nice breakfast buffet.
