An absolutely beautiful hotel. The garden and views take your breath away. The formal dining was superb with great attention to detail - loved the special cushion for one's handbag! Some areas are a little tired/could be improved eg bathroom, pool tiles need a scrub, pool loos could be tidied up more regularly. overall though, the experience was wonderful and we enjoyed every minute of our stay,

We spent 3 nights at the San Domenico in February 2009. This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in, but it was expensive and only visiting during the off-season brought it down to a price we were willing to pay. Beautiful, luxurious, historic 5-star property in central Taormina, with lovely views of Mount Etna and the bay of Naxos. Our standard double room was perfectly clean and spacious, with a side view of the bay. The room and marble bath contained extra touches like a super comfortable bed, fluffy robe, slippers, and the largest bath towels I've ever seen in a hotel. Excellent service by hospitality employees although the room service was very expensive (30E for a cheeseburger, etc.) Employees were consistently pleasant & remembered our names each time we passed by the front desk. I would highly rec'd this hotel to a friend looking to treat themselves.

Excellent stay in the hotel but staff consistency was missing in one case. We were told we could not pay for the airport shuttle by credit card. We went into town to get cash and when we returned we were told we could use a credit card. A change of policy in 10 minutes, a bit confusing! I thought brakfast buffet was a little limited also.

Extraordinary !!!! Never been to such a place !!! Inbelievable hotel, everything is nice, service is smart and fast, food bar and the swinning pool are fabulous, georgeus, paradisiac !! Expensive but it really worth the price !!!
