St. Olav Hotel - Tallinn
Lai 5 - Tallinn
877-662-6988There is an overall historical milieu in the hotel. Plenty of pseudo-Gothic details are used, many ornaments are pertinent to this era, also darker shades of warm coloring to stress the original peculiarity of the building. Natural stone, dark wood, patterned textiles and forgings are the dominating materials used. The lights are in historical style with forging and handmade glass imitation or textile shades.

The hotel is central, clean, good price and the breakfast is very nice, but our rooms not very quite. The solution lies in a quiet room price. Our economy and this was clearly involves a different service.

A great property in a superb location within the old town. From here you can walk to anywhere in the old town in under 10 minutes. The breakfast was fine with a good choice of hot & cold, but as with any property of this age, it has been converted from buildings dating back centuarys so there are no lifts and if your mobility isn't good, you'll need to request a room on the ground floor. Highly reccommended!

Staff not very interested in helping us with directions or locating places we were looking for. Nice location!

1. A strange smell in the bathroom was not satisfactory. This has to be repaired. 2. I was charged for one pouch/bag of nuts though I never have eaten or seen any kind of nuts in my room! "Control in my room" - I was told. But I informed at the desk at the reception that this was wrong, and if they will have "counting-problem at the hotel" I could pay (no problem etc.) Service I like? Conficence I like? - Not me!

When I wanted to pay exact price for stay as indicated in my hotel's confirmation, I was informed that hotel uses Estonian currency - EEK and, if I want to pay in EUR, amount will be bigger that in my confirmation. Difference was not so big - additional 5%, but still I didn't like it.

Excellent location just two blocks away from the main square in Old Town, but still in a quiet street. We got upgraded to a Junior Suite so cannot really speak for the standard rooms, but our suite was very spacious and clean, and even had its own private sauna. The beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet. The building itself had lots of historical atmosphere and had been renovated with style. Decoration in the rooms could have been more stylish / suitable to the environment, the furniture seemed a bit pick & mixed from different styles of antiques. However it was all functional. Breakfast was not the most sumptious I have ever seen, but adequate. The only negatives would be the lack of elevator (for those with lots of luggage or poor health) and the fact that parts of the building had a bit of a funny damp smell to it. Apart from that, we were quite happy with our stay at St Olav's. Overall, a nice atmospheric hotel with an excellent price-quality ratio.

We stayed in a doble-bed room with a quiet bachyard on the first floor. it was served a delisious breakfast in a newly renovated room with å lot of space. the only thing we missed in the hotel was elevator most of important landmarks are not far away from the hotel.

Great location, and yet it is very quiet because of the off-street courtyard. Rooms are small as noted in other reviews - but adequate. Good value for the price.

Dommage !

Hotel location superb for the old town. Room very clean and spacious. Breakfast good (if busy) Plenty of towels etc. Receptionists hopeless! All that could be offered by the restaurant after a confirmed dinner reservation was room service.....plenty of alternatives in the old town so no big deal just irritating (the menu looked good too)

Overall stay at the hotel was great. Exept for terrible noise coming from floors (squeeking). And quite bad sound insulation. But otherwise - hightly recommended.

This is a very nice hotel. It is really something different, with a charming mix of old and new. If you have a problem with walking, then you should have a room on the ground floor in this hotel, because they have no elevator and the stairs are narrow and difficult. But for the rest of us it is in fact a very charming experience too walk around in this hotel - I deeply recommend it. I would definately stay here again. In the Old town there are many very charming cafeterias, and very good restaurants - and I espescially have to mention Olde Hansa restaurant, which is great in every way. But we liked all the restaurants, cafeterias and pubs we visited in the Old town during the five days we stayed. For tourists it is the Old town that is worth seeing, but be aware that the prices are not as low as you might expect. If you are on a budged then it is maybe worth to go outside the old town a bit, where the prices probably are a lot lower.

It is definitely not a 4-stars hotel!!! There is no parking area nearby the hotel. And you can hear everything your neighbours do. Breakfast are fine.

It is not 4* hotel (as self-rated), but great location seems to be more important than quiteness. Clean, but easy. Would recommend. The only problem is that check in was imposible before 14-00 (there were free rooms, but "check in is impossible"!) PS. In Tallinn I mostly like Olde Hansa restaurant.
