I booked an 'executive' room because there were no others available (I switched from the Meriton Old Town Hotel one week before the trip). This was not as spacious as I had expected but was by no means cramped. For cramped, try the Meriton Old Town rooms! (we checked those out when we were there). Most of the staff welcoming, friendly and helpful (Souza the doorman especially so). One particular member of staff was less so. She couldn't understand why I should want milk in our room to have with the tea and coffee. I ended up taking a glass up each day and storing in the mini-bar. The meals we had in the hotel were very nice - no complaint from either of us. There is a busy road just outside the hotel, but luckily we were at the back. It is not just the 3rd floor that is non-smoking. We were on 5th foor and our whole corridor was non-smoking. Choosing Venere saved us €50 per night compared to booking with the hotel.
