I loved the BLue Taj, the first time I stayed there in 2007 and therefore paid more when I returned to Sydney to stay here for three nights. I have two friends that live in sydney and I looked at the hotel brochure and it said local calls are one dollar AUD. I called reception to confirm and ask for a pay phone if the cost was too high to make a local call and they confirmed that a local call was one dollar each call. I then went down to the lobby and confirmed with the front desk the price, and also called reception again to confirm a third time. I made three calls lasting 1 to 3 minutes each total to my local friends in Sydney - but received a bill at check out for 107 AUD dollars. Apparently, the dollar charge only applies to land lines and these calls were to a mobile phone. I did not know this was a mobile and nowhere in the hotel book or in my three calls/discussions with hotel staff was I told that this would be more than one dollar a phone call. I have stayed at many Taj hotels in the past and travel extensively as a physician in four and five star hotels. The manager and desk staff were not helpful and felt that I should pay this amount for the phone calls. this ruined my entire vacation as I was so upset and stressed about this. . I have stayed at many Taj hotels in the past and travel extensively as a physician in four and five star hotels. I doubt I will ever stay here again. I return to Sydney in 2 years and will avoid all Taj hotels for this poor customer service.
