Hotel Villa e Palazzo Aminta - Stresa

A beautiful facility, fantastic SPA and great service.

Pricy and impersonnal . On arrival a management person didn't even care to open the door , even after realizind we had trouble opening it . The rest of our three day stay was pretty much the same with no one ready to make our stay a unique experience . the place is very chic but snoby . One expect more for that kind of money . We will not go back . there are so many other places that are more fun and friendly around lake majore . It is also to far to walk to town . There is a shuttle that runs occasionnaly . We were also given a small room even if the hotel was not very busy . Overall we didn't feel welcome and this is to much money for what they have to offer . the view of the islands is nonotheless very nice

Great hotel, beautiful decor, good service, excellent staff, good breakfast. Beautiful location. Common rooms on main level are BEAUTIFIL!!

While the room was very clean, the level of maintenance was poor. The safe didn't work because the battery was used, the water in the wash hand basin didn't stay in due to a problem with the plug, the windows didn't open as they were painted shut and the handle was missing from one of them. The alarm on the telephone malfunctioned and went off during the night. The air conditioning would not switch off and remained on throughout the night. The air conditioning was extremely noisy and was particularly noticeable at night. The trains passing at the back of the hotel made a loud noise at regular intervals. I was surprised, having regard to the price I paid for the room and the five-star rating of the hotel, that I was given a small low-ceilinged attic/loft room. I had to bend down extremely low to reach the toilet. Everytime I stepped back from the bathroom mirror I banged my head off the ceiling. I also regularly banged my head off the ceiling when going to the wardrobe. The room and bathroom felt very claustrophobic due to the fact that the ceiling was very low and the only windows were skylights which didn't open. It was difficult to get used to the extremely low ceiling because it sloped in various different places so I kept walking into it. Unpleasant claustrophobic room which I was glad to get out of.

Amazing hotel. Fantastic rooms. Great breakfast.

The location is very nice, cause I could see all three islands of lake Maggiore from the Hotel. I hope that the property prepare slippers in the room.

L'hotel est très beau mais la chambre etait trés en dessous de ce que on peut attendre d'un hotel de ce niveau. Ex: la TV n'avait pas de chaine Française car elle était en panne. Le repas pris au restaurant de l'hotel etait mauvais, trés frugal et horiblement cher . Ex: le menu dégustation , sans la boisson 96 euros par personne.Je ne recommanderais pas cet hotel même s'il est vrai qu'il est très bien situé.

L'hotel si trova in una posizione meravigliosa, proprio di fronte alle isole borromee. Le suite sono spaziose, silenziose e arredate con grande cura. Il personale è altamente qualificato e molto simpatico. Un Hotel da consigliare!!!

Villa Aminta was very nice and the staff made us feel welcome and were very attentive to our needs. The hotel is outside of town and offers a shuttle service so you don't have to worry about parking in town. Walking anywhere from the hotel is difficult because there aren't any sidewalks and the road is busy and narrow. Be sure to keep the hotel phone number with you, if you call they will pick you up in town if it is after the shuttle bus stops running. They have internet access available on a computer in their training room that hotel guests can use, be sure to inquire about it because it isn't advertised.

This is a place for older people. It's very nicely restored, but the interior is over the top (too much gold). The hotel is far from Stresa's center so without a car you are a bit captive. The pool area is nice but the water was too dirty to get in and there were a lot of ants. If this is the type of hotel you're interested in, I'd recommend staying at one closer to the center (there are plenty of the same style).

Overall we appreciated the positive attitude of the employees. We had several questions, which have been answered on the spot. Real professional! No words like impossible, difficult... The overall attitude has been "Yes, we can"

Lovely setting. Nicest hotel in Stressa

Having toured Italy extensively, we stayed at 3 and 4 star hotels with equal or better facilities and more friendly staff. The location of the hotel means that it is not possible to walk anywhere , as ther are no pavements and it is on a busy road. The Shuttle service stops at 6pm. When we tried to check out as a result of this they stated that we would be charged for the extra day. Good Pool though.

The only thing we think could be improved is the car parking, but as space is a premium perhaps it is not possible.We enjoyed our stay in your hotel and would stay again if we come to that area of Italy again. Thankyou.

Everything about this hotel was up to our expectation. We have no critisisms of it at all and would highly recommend it (Our stay was early in the season and possibly the ratio of staff to guest was higher than would be the case at high season)

We stayed at the Hotel Aminta in August, 2003. The hotel was elegant and the rooms were very beautiful. The location of the hotel is very nice as it is a little ways out of town and traffic is not so busy. We stayed in a room off the main hotel with an excellent view of the lake. I believe these rooms are actually cheaper than the rooms in the main hotel. However these rooms had a large patio with outdoor furniture which allowed you to relax and enjoy the wonderful view of the lake. The service was good and the staff at the front desk spoke English, German, and Italian. They gave good suggestions for dinner, and also ordered us our own private boat to tour the islands, which was very reasonable. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Villa Aminta. The view onto the Lake and the Three Sisters Islands was fabulous. It is located a bit out of town and the road is very narrow to walk. The rooms were a tad small but not bad. The hotel personnel were very friendly. I would stay there again.

If you want to be totally spoilt then the Villa Aminta is definitley the place for you. From the sumptious surroundings, and the beautiful views over Lake Maggiore, to the incredibly quality of the dining experience the Villa Aminta proved faultless.

Excellent property deserving of 5* overall, made by the professionalism of the staff and the superb surroundings. The only negative points were: 1. The villa property is bisected by the main road around the lake. This can result in some traffic noise to the front of the property especially. 2. The property is about 2km from Stresa, hence it is a bit of a walk (along the same busy road). Fortunately, the villa provides a reasonably regular shuttle service, which was excellent. 3. For a 5* luxury property, I would expect fluffy bathrobes and proper wooden/high-grade coat hangers - which in this case are not provided. 4. The food at the villa is very good, but not outstanding in any Michelin sense. As such, relatively speaking, it was overpriced. The above are the only niggly points. The week we spent there had excellent weather, and a week by the lake is the perfect way to unwind. If you chose to stay at the villa (if you are fortunate to be able to afford it), then make sure you get a 'lakeview room' as we did. Also try and fit in a game of tennis - there is a court right on the lake's edge.

A wonderfully relaxing place to stay, idyllic surroundings, but be warned, a car is advisable as the town of Stresa is quite a walk in the heat!
