Hotel Sempione - Stresa

I had stayed at Sempione previously and was disappointed that my room was not available because the bathroom was under repair. However, the clerk had booked me alternate accomodation at the same price at a very nice hotel just around the corner. My rating is based on my stay at the alternate hotel, which was just as good as the Sempione.

Very plesant stay, staff helpful and excellent location. Some parts of hotel in need of refurbishment, ensuite pretty terrible, but low cost for the area

Whilst the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly, the breakfast was good and the location very nice, the hotel interior badly needs updating. My room was spacious and quiet but not all rooms are the same. The interiors of the rooms and hallways need brightening up generally, new mattresses and shower screens installed and a general overhaul to get rid of the old, tired feeling, in order for this hotel to be considered good value compared to other hotels in the area in the same price bracket.

A very sweet hotel very clean too and staff is extremely helpful. Breakfast is abundant and delicious. Thanks for the lovely room with lake view. A memorable stay. I would surely recomend it.

Hotel sign broken, so proved difficult to find. When arrived, could not find the advertised free parking, because they had none. They then gave me a tall story about why they did not have a room for me and sent me elswhere. I'm guessing they sold my room for a higher price. Undoubtably terrible experience.

The hotel is becoming decidedly shabby but our room had a superb view and the staff were excellent. The room and the linen provided were spotless.

The hotel location is excellent, and the price for this area is good. The rooms and the public areas definitely require renovation. Overall will do for the economy stay.

Great location, nice balcony view from top floor room, enjoyable breakfast

Great location. confortable clean room. Beautiful lake view. You can't go wrong for the price. Room was adequate. the single room in the back which our children had was basic. If you are a double pop for the lake view as the room is much larger and nicer bathroom.

Hotel Sempione is the best value for money hotel we have ever stayed in - and there are plenty to compare with! What a fantastic location and very friendly staff. It is not luxury but it is very clean and comfortable. If you are not a "hotel snob" you will not be disappointed here and we would highly recommend it to those of you who want great value but NOT at a dump :)

Wonderful hotel, asked politely for a room change from the first floor where trees blocked a promising view of the lake, this was arranged in an instant.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and in Stresa. Beautiful view over the lake and mountains,the traffic was not too bad. The stuff was very welcoming and cheerful. Stresa is a lovely town with a market on Friday, small streets and beautiful old buildings along the lake.

Location is excellent, regarding boats to arrive from Como, which is reccomended as one gets his first view to the scenery of Lake Como in a magnificent way. Car-Ferry links to Bellagio in front of hotel, every half hour untill 23:30, so, no need to stay in high-priced Bellagio. Ferry links to other destinations. Staff very much willing to help with guides to the area and other needs. If you manage to have a room in the front of the hotel, you will have an exquisite view of the lake and Bellagio when one wakes in the morning, and also very romantic at night. Rooms very clean although some renovation needed, spacious enough. Breakfast good quality, limited choice. Cadennabia has little to offer at night, and the bus stops (in front of the hotel, both ways) at 19:00, but with the daily pass at €11 for the ferries one can easily shuttle between the nearby excellent locations for night life untill 23:30. One is willing to return to this hotel.

This is now the second time we stayed there, and not the last time

Sempione has a good location and the views from the balcony are great (make sure you get on the second floor or higher at the front of the hotel). However, although reasonably clean, it is very "tired" and in need of a major revamp throughout. We doubt whether our room had been redecorated for at least 20 years. The bed sank towards the middle and was uncomfortable. We stayed at 6 different hotels on our trip and this was the worst, but not the cheapest

Cramped room. No shower. Old, outdated. No AC, no fan. Way too hot in room. June 2010.

Given the price/performance relation the breakfast (at the old & stylish wooden front part of the building, facing the lake) has been outstanding!

Good hotel for the price in a very nice town on lake maggiore. Very helpful employees.

Very nice and hospitable staff. it seems, that manager and owner is the one person. So he's really attentive to clients. Although the furniture is not modern and breakfast is quite small (for choice of meal, quantity was ok), all staff is so well-wishing, friendly and helpful, that there is very good impression. if we go to Stresa again, we'll stay there for sure.

Hotel pequeño y familiar en primera línea del lago Mayor. La habitación era ruidosa pero las vistas al lago valían la pena. Excelente relación calidad-precio y muy buen servicio / Little familiar hotel in the lago Maggiore first line. The room was quietless but the window landscape was fabulous. Excellent ratio price/quality and very good service.
