The hotel was wonderful with real old world charm. It was close to the lake with wonderful restaurants within walking distance. The rooms were modest in size but very comfortable with a pretty little balcony overlooking the well manicured grounds. The staff was warm and gracious and successfully solved a booking problem which could have caused us much difficulty. We had a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone planning a trip to Stresa.

My wife and I stayed in the hotel, although the more modern annex is only a few metres away. Both hotel and annex are situated in an extensive very well maintained undulating garden with large mature flowering shrubs. The main rail line between Milan and the north runs immediately beyond the garden, albeit in a deep cutting. Passing passenger and goods trains generate noise, but no pollution as the line is electrified. Light sleepers might wish to avoid rooms facing in that direction although, after the excellent dinners provided in Stresa's plethora of restaurants, we had no problem nodding off! Children and rail buffs would see the line as a positive advantage. Otherwise, the hotel, situated in a commanding position overlooking the town, is peaceful - away from the busy centre hubub, but only minutes on foot from it. The hotel itself is family owned and it shows. The warmth of the welcome and the attention to detail is outstanding. The public rooms retain the original comfortable furniture and period decor, whilst the bedrooms are modern, having very comfortable beds and state of the art en-suites with powerful showers and unending suppies of hot water. The only meal available is breakfast, but it is first class, with an extensive range of juices, cold meats, cheeses and boiled eggs, together with breads and rather wonderful cakes, which were only resisted due to my wife's eagle eyed supervision! Unusually and greatly appreciated, large china teapots were available for tea jennies such as me. If these comments appear unbalanced it is solely due to the fact that we saw no downside, other than the intermittent passing train noise. However, even this is offset by the fact that, consequently, the station is no more than 5 minutes walk from the hotel - excellent for outings or, indeed, travel to Stresa from anywhere in Europe Would we return? Most definitely. Such small, elegant hotels with staff who really care are few and far between.

A very nicely located hotel in a lovely park surrounding it. Easy and free parking. Just 300 meters away from the center of Stresa, which in itself is along the Lago Maggiore. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Although we could occasionally hear the sound of passing trains during the night, it certainly did not bother us and we slept with the window open. The breakfast is an absolute winner as far as continental breakfasts go. Selection of different types of bread, cold meats, cheeses, cakes, marmelades, yoghurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, juices. The very best continental breakfast we had in years. If you look for a good resataurant close by, do not miss Il Vicoletto, just down a street, next to the post office. Do not miss a boat trip to the Borromean isles and if the weather permits, go up the cable car to the Mottarone and the Alpine gardens. Stresa is a lovely town, full of charm. We were there in October, so summer might be more crowded

Very clean hotel. Excellent value for your money. Well located. Very good breakfast. No Wi-Fi in rooms but you can connect to internet in lobby area. Very friendly and helpful management. We would certainly return to this hotel in beautiful Stresa.

This doesn't happen often and actually this is the first time when I can say this hotel is excelent in all aspects in my opinion. The room is clean and awesome with outstanding view, breakfast is a good veriety of cheese, bread, ham and a lot of other yammy things. Service is great as all the receptionists were too welcome I'd say. We had a parking included as well as wifi. To cut it short this was the best hotel on our 19 days journey around Venice, Florence, Milan and Stresa. Thank you. p.s. I'm russian so sorry for my English

We were very pleased witht he HOtel Du parc. We were jetlagged, so the noise of the neighboring train tracks didn't keep us from sleeping, but our traveling companions who are nighter sleepers were bothered by it. Otherwise, though, it was a great place to stay - conveniently located, lovely grounds and a good breakfast buffet.

The hotel was value for money - the room was exceptionally clean - laminate flooring much more to our taste in terms of both hygiene and aesthetic appeal than the highly pattterned carpets common in hotels like this. If there is an option to skip breakfast then take it. We had a back room and we probably should have taken the advice of other VENERE uses and bought ear plugs for the train noise. Convenient location and pretty setting. Stresa was beginning to close for the season (mid Oct)but still plenty to do - cable car is in walking distance and the views at the top of the mountain were wonderful.

This was a wonderful old hotel full of character. Had a flavor of a real old time hotel. Well kept, clean, beautiful grounds and just a block or 2 away from the buzz of the busy Stresa. Very nice place. The only downside were the trains that passed by thru the night. We were less than 300 feet from the tracks. No whistles but lots of trains. Breakfast room was great, as was the breakfast. Felt like a rather classy place.

Beautiful hotel and lovely garden! The photos on the page do not make justice: hotel and garden are better than in the pictures. The room was like from a fairytail (just standard room in the main building). It is also true that trains go by and there is some noise. But it did not bothered us. If you sleep really light, it might bother you a bit.Buffet breakfast was excellent and there was also fruits, ham, cheese and mysli for healthier eating (plus the base sweettooth things like cakes, croissaints, marmalades etc). The breakfast was served in a very nicely decorated/furnished room with a view to town/lake.You can reach the hotel by train, bus and Alibus. The hotel can be seen from the train (if you are travelling with it). From the railway station it takes ab. 10 minutes to walk (take turn to the right from the station and walk along the road beside of the railway. There will be signs and you can see the hotel quite quickly. Can't miss.) If you coming from Milan Malpensa, take a taxi to the Gallarate and a train from there to Stresa (heading to Domodossola). We waited 2 hours a bus at Malpensa to take us to Stresa, but it never came. We find out that there is no bus service when schools are closed for summer (although the very bored looking clerk at Malpensa advices us to wait for it, thanks alot). By the way there are no signs to find the bus platform at Malpensa, travellers asked each other...It situates in the west side of the building (had a feeling of a backyard). There are two platforms, it is on the right hand side (when coming from the airport building). And the best choise is to book seats from the bus firm Alibus (see www). The platform for it is in the east (use main doors.)It takes you from Malpensa to the church of Stresa. The walk up to the hotel is about 5 min (take an alley beside the church (lake will be behind you) which goes through the shopping area and keep walking, there will be signs to the hotel). Romantic, suberbly located hotel!

We stayed in Stresa as a base to explore Lake Maggiore. On the whole we were pleased with our choice and managed to visit all the gardens and other places of interest we intended to. We chose "Hotel du Parc" largely based on what we saw on the website and its proximity to train and boat services. The hotel was good in many respects and only fell down on two scores: first, the room we were allocated suffered some noise from the railway cutting that ran behind the hotel (freight trains ran through the night) and second, some inability to grasp that my wife and I were restricted in what we could eat for breakfast, being on low fat / low cholesterol diets and my wife on a non-gluten diet.

A nice traditional hotel with nice surroundings and a convenient location. On-site (free) parking available. Reception staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. Continental style breakfast was adequate, and served in a lovely dining room. Paid extra for a lake view room (with the smallest balcony imaginable) other buildings obscured the view somehwhat, with the lake someway off in the distance, but it was visible to the naked eye(just). Bathroom was good size but rather old and tired looking, plenty of hot water though. Room was comfortable and very clean, with reasonably priced mini-bar, but no tea/coffee facilities. Aircon unit was quite useless as it blew cool air into the bathroom, not towards the bed where it was needed! Only other downside was some noise at night due to proximity of busy railway. Deserving of it's 3 stars, but lacking a swimming pool.

This hotel is about a ten minute walk from the train station. It's basically a converted mansion-very French feeling, and very cute. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi, but you have to have your own computer. Breakfast was excellent. The train runs by pretty close to the hotel but I didn't notice it at night (and I'm a very little sleeper). I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel Du Park was a very relaxing place with helpful, none intrusive, friendly staff.(Arriving on a motorcycle did not phase them, quite the opposite?). Its peaceful situation,(other than the not too frequent nearby trains) is in attractive well cared for grounds, but only a short stroll to the town, its many Ristorantes and the lake.It proves to be very popular with 'Brits', and staff and visitors from other countries all appeare to speak English very well, to our shame! I certainly recommend the Hotel as a very pleasant place to stay and would be very happy to return.

It's a very nice hotel in a beautiful liberty building (end of 19th century). There is a road next to it, sometimes it's a little bit too noisy. It's quite near to the town, in 2 minutes you are in the center. All that for very cheap rates: very good.

We stayed for three nights in two double rooms. They were clean, comfortable, safe. Bathroom was very nice and modern, always had hot water. Beds were comfortable. Windows opened on to park like setting behind the hotel. Staff was very friendly, seemed to know who we were and what room we were in without us even saying. Breakfast was delicious spread of pastries, cake, hard rolls, bread for toast, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, 3 kinds of cereal, juice and caffe. Spacious dining room was very nice with white tablecloths and comfortable chairs. We leisurely ate our breakfast, had plenty of room and time. Great start to the day. One drawback: you are close to the rail line and you hear every train that goes by, several of which are at night. May not be able to avoid that in this small town though. Otherwise, the rooms were very quiet. Close to the main area of Stresa but off the beaten path. Walked to and from the train station with wheeled luggage. They did have computer access to the internet. Our wireless device did not work but we were able to use their computer in the basement. It was old and slow but worked. We would stay at the Hotel Du Parc again if in Stresa.
