The cooking is excellent. It's great to wake up at the sound of birds singing and gentle lapping of waves. The lake view from our hotel room was breath taking. It was a fantastic stay!

Just a personal touch: we were running late coming with a boat from another island. We had to pick our luggage and we were going to miss another boat goign to the mainland. So, we called the cotel from the boat and the manager (or the owner) personally brought all our luggage to the pier so we did not have to disembark and managed to get back to Milan the same day. Thank you!

Loved the hotel and atmosphere. Was worried about staying at such a romantic hotel by myself, but ended up feeling very comfortable, and enjoying the fabulous views from my room balcony and from the outside dining and (inside dining) areas. I also loved how quiet the island was in the evenings after long days of sightseeing.

We arrived at the beginning of off season in drizzly foggy weather to a very welcoming staff who spoke English far better than I speak Italian. I think that if we visited at a different time of year/weather we would have been thrilled but the weather was dismal so we opted to leave one day early. The management was very cooperative and did not charge us for the last day, recognizing that the weather really was quite poor. We would definitely visit again but probably not in mid-late October.

We loved this comfortable hotel, with a stunning setting close to the tip of Isola Pescatori. The room we had was a cheaper one without a view, but was comfortable and had a lovely big bathroom. The terraces where we ate breakfast and dinner overlooked the lake and were wonderful. We swam in the lake off a little beach close to the hotel. The food at dinner was lovely and service was very friendly. Lots of weddings take place on the island - on Saturday we saw at least three brides having photos taken around the island, very romantic. We would certainly stay again, booked through Venere the price was excellent.

Lovely place but a little on the expensive side! Anyway, we got the best room with a wonderful veranda overlooking the lake!

It's in a fantastic location but when we visited the Hotel was very quiet since the weather was overcast and rainy. I fell ill during my stay and the Hotel was extremely helpful - even preparing special meals for me. Couldn't have been more helpful... excellent staff

We had a beautiful stay at the Belvedere. Our room had an amazing patio and the view of the lake, mountains was incredible! The room was very nice and quite large but with the patio and the view who would spend time in the room! The owner was very friendly and spent some time chatting with us over drinks. I would recommend this property highly!

Although the room was small, the quaintness of Isola Bella more than made up for the small room. The manager/owner was most gracious and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay here and will go again for an even longer stay. The island was very quiet in the first week of October and suited us just fine. If you are looking for peace and tranquality and a beautiful setting come here. Everything from the surrounding mountains to lake offered spectacular views and unforgettable sights. If you want madness and noise, go to Rome.

Beautiful location and romantic at night (isolated on island) though there are tourists by day. (You need to like quiet evenings.) Our room large, with big terrace and enormous view. Furnishing simple but attractive. Food in garden or glassed restaurant. Cooking good except (unaccountably) breakfast coffee. Cars have to be parked on mainland (schedule may dictate water-taxi back to car on leaving). Good boat access to sights.

The hotel and service were excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. The view from our balcony over the lake was stunning. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and, as well as wonderful fish dishes, the kitchen was able to cater for a vegan diet. We only stayed one night but wished we had booked for longer.

If you come to Maggiore, stay here one night. Small hotel in a great location which is clean and good value, and most rooms with a view. When the tourists go you are left with the setting sun, the lapping of the waves and none of the traffic you find around so much of the lake shore. Beautiful!

We were start our holiday coming from Malpensa airport on our way to Toscana. The Isola Pescationi is a beautiful island and easy to reach. We like it a lot and we love the room we get with big balcony and a beautiful view over the lake. We will recommend the hotel..!

We arrived at the Belvedere after 3 days in Rome and 4 in Venice for a wedding in mid September. The pictures dont do justice to the hotel, the view from the restaurant nor the island. Paco and all of the staff were just so amazing, the chef is superb--our room was the best we had in Italy and it really was a perfect way to end a wonderful ten days. We took Marco's advise and visited the other islands, had pizza, ice cream, shopped and came back to a wonder fresh fish dinner. Each course better than the next. After watching a lovely but very different wedding in Venice, to me the Isola dei Pescatori and Paco's Belvedere would be the place to have the perfect wedding. We will be back, thanks again, Sorry so late in writing, been a little busy in the Middle East for both of us. Bernadette and Jim.

We were a party of 4 in two rooms with lake views and balconies for 1 night. The hotel was very clean & quiet. Our dinner was also very quiet, almost uncomfortably quiet. We felt some ambience, background music etc. would have helped to make the experience more enjoyable. One night OK, a bit pricy for that experience.

What a wonderful place to stay. Paco and his staff were very gracious hosts. The rooms were clean and bright. Views of the lake were awesome. One note is that as you arrive (in our case by train) its a bit of a walk, rolling your luggage along the way, to the harbor to catch a ferry to the island.

The room was very clean yet spartan, not even a chair to sit in room and read. View was excellent. It was not warm outside and there is no lobby to use (it is a reataurant).Food in restaurant was horrible. Island is nice before and after tourists arrive. Too busy when they are there.

Isola Superiore di Pescatori is one of the most romantic places on earth. The Belvedere is one of two hotels on the island; this one located on the western tip. Although the island exudes charm, it becomes absolutely wonderful after the last boat leaves, and you have the island almost to yourself. The views are absolutely spectacular, and staying at the Belvedere is a perfect complement. Our 2nd fkoor room was tastefully furnished, and the French door led out to a rooftop veranda, where you can enjoy spectular views with relative privacy. Paco was exceptionally friendly and helpful in all respects. The accomodations were simple, modern, and clean. Since you are on an island, and most of the restaurants on the island close after the last boat, the restaurant associated with the Belvedere is the essentially the only game in town. The menu was varied and the food is absolutely incredible. Paco was kind to share the menu with us. As a antipasti, the cod mousse and prawns were terrific, the lakew fish ravioli for primi piatti; the fish or beef for secondi were all treats. On both nights, we had the piatto di fromaggi della cassa (local cheeses) for an after-dinner treat. All the staff were very friendly. Finally, the atmosphere was so relaxed that it was easy to make friends with some of the other guests.

The view from our window was marvelous. Lake Maggiore is as pretty as they come. The Island is very quiet at night. The hotel is amazingly accomodating. Throughout our stay we were never treated as anything less than their most important customers. An amazing quality of service.

Nice, clean property on picturesque island. Keep in mind that your travel in the area will be impacted by the public boat schedule, unless you wish to pay more than double for a private taxi boat. Dining choices on Isola Pescatore are extremely limited after 6 p.m. but Hotel Belvedere's restaurant is a good option. Hotel and restaurant staff are very polite and helpful, despite the language barrier.

Our stay was for 1 week in may 2007. Breakfasts good, but the hotel restaurant in common with other hotel restaurants in the area is overpriced and of poor quality. Use restaurants that are not allied to hotels. Most restaurants on Isola Pescatori are not open after 5pm, and those that are, not every night. Good base for the Islands / gardens. Travel to/from Malpensa, use Alibus but ensure you get confirmation one day before for both journeys. Some ferry times on wednesdays are different to other days. Best value trip is the combined ferry/train/narrow gauge train/ferry/ferry via Stresa/Dossodommo/Lugano for Euro28 pp. Stresa Zoo is a disgrace.

Even though the hotel is really a restaurant with "B & B" facilities, it would have been nice to have comfortable (arm)chairs on which to sit - e.g. a "residents" lounge. Also, it would have been good to have a "simple menu" for snacks in the evenings. Otherwise, an excellent venue in every sense and we would advise anyone to stay here!

We had a great experience at Hotel Belvedere. We hadn't realized we were arriving when it wasn't quite tourist season, but the owner, Paco, made our stay extremely comfortable and was very helpful with his recommendations! The hotel has been in his family for four generations and he'll gladly share the history of the island with you. The rooms are immaculate, comfortable and stylish. Definitely our nicest room in all of Italy.

The hotel is spectacular, the best accomodation of our vacation. The one thing which needs to be explained to prospective clients is that the hotel is on an island. It was not clear in the explaination, stated between the lines. This as it turned out was a benifit as the island is charming in the mornings and evenings when the tourists have left.

Very welcoming and helpful staff. hotel itself is ideally located, away from the tourist track but along the lake ... excellent views, good restaurant. rooms w/o lake view have windows closely facing another building's walls and soon-to-be-windows. provided ample reading matter re lago maggiore & environs but, alas, only in italian. hotel highly recommended.

Although our room must have been the only one not overlooking the lake (it looked out onto a small alley) it was clean & suited our purposes well - & we were only staying 1 night. Meals in the restaurant with the view made up for this. Instructions on where to leave car on mainland would help. Only a reply from my e-mail elicited the info that car can be left at Baveno Grand Hotel rather than in public parking.

The overall quality and atmosphere were excellent -- the hotel is a little jewel (family owned and run, with great pride). Rooms are furnished well, and some have excellent views. The hotel restaurant is very good, but it is only one of two choices on the island in the evening. It is quiet and relaxful -- but nothing else to do on the island after 6PM. A great choice and value!
