We had a wonderful stay at this downtown hotel; the Christmas decorations were superb, each floor decorated in a different theme. The desk personnel were excellent and professional, as were the cleaning and serving staff, throughout our stay. We are already planning to return.

Very big room, even with the additional bed, for a hotel rated ***. Really good price/value balance! Nice, very friendly staff - and at the reception desk they speak more than just French.

A family group of 4 stayed here for an overnight sightseeing trip. The location is excellent and convenient for everything- sightseeing, shopping, dining and transportation! Following the advices from some reviews about the hotel's (over-priced) breakfast (14.50EUR p.p.) we booked without it and had our breakfast in a cafe just a minute walk from the hotel, and we all agreed it was the right decision!! The only downside could be the lighting in the rooms and the noise from the tram. The room light was not enough and we had a hard time figuring out how to use the safe which was tucked deep inside the closet. We had two double rooms on the first floor, both facing rue des Francs Bourgeois which is the tram route. I had no problem with the noise the trams make but my mother found it a bit disturbing. If you are sensitive to noise and/or not a deep sleeper, might be better to ask for rooms on higher floors or facing another street.

Upon arrival we got a very bad room since we could not use the wardrobe nor the safe box. It took a day till we changed the room. the people in the reception were nice ! We had no mills in the hotel. I recomend to add to the bathroom shampoo @ an hair drayer.

Great location, close to lots of restaurants, good shopping and a movie theater. Room was clean and spacious but there was a lot of noise from the street. No air conditioning (needed in the warmer months) so we couldn't close the windows. We didn't have their breakfast but the price seemed steep. There seemed to be a lot of hotels around that area so I would shop around next time, based on the lack of a/c and the noise at night. In the colder months it would be better I think.

The first room 506 was too hot to sleep in. We had to keep windows open so it was noisy. We were given 528 with air conditioning and then everything was ok but we had to pay extra. We found the charge for breakfast too expensive for what we wanted to eat.

The staff were very helpful and spoke english wonderfully. The rooms were quite spacious for a european hotel. The rooms were very quiet with the exception of the large bathroom, you could hear people between our bathroom and the one in the next room. If we just kept the bathroom door closed this was not an issue. The location was perfect, walking distance to all major sights. The breakfast was traditional and filling.

Great hotel in central location at great price thanks to venere.com. For a family reunion we used 5 rooms: all were lovely, and our group gatherings in the lobby still left lots of couches & chairs for the rest of the hotel guests. A fine place to stay for business or pleasure in Strasbourg.

I must say I had a very pleasant stay at Maison Rouge as this was my first time in town. The reception was ready and expecting us even though we arrived late in the evening. Compared to other comments I saw on the internet, my room (double room) was large and the noise from the street was much quiter than the I expected (I stayed on the 5th floor). The location was great, and the price from Venere was excellent.

The hotel is very well situated a 10 minute walk from the train station. It offers very easy access to all of the sights in Strasbourg. Only 10 minutes from the old city. I'd certainly stay here again - the price and accommodations are very good and good value, too.

Ottima posizione in centro. La stanza puzzava di fumo anche se era per non fumatori. Stanza essenziale, bruttina come arredo con moquette. Parcheggio nelle vicinanze albergo costa 18€ /24 ore.

I made this choise of hotel because the hotel profile informed that access by car was possible, and private parking was available. This was not the case. We could not go to the hotel by car (we called reception) and were directed to the public Kleber underground parking. This was in principle OK, but it should have been clearly stated, and if we knew we had choosen another hotel. It was not clear either (as far as I remember) whether breakfast was included in the price (which it was not).

Very comfortable stay. The hotel is in an ideal location for Strasbourg, not too far from the Cathedral or shops! The hotel itself is fine, could do with a little modernising, but comfortable and the staff friendly enough. Wouldn't have the breakfast at 14 euros each though! Would stay there again.

The Maison Rouge is fantastically-well located for the best parts of Strasbourg, even being on a tram route so that getting elsewhere is simple and easy, if you'd want. The staff give all the advice you might want on Strasbourg matters - all was timely and accurate. The only reason I dropped a few points for quietness and spaciousness was because I had one of the 'standard' rooms, which are not as good as the Confort rooms. I've stayed previously in a Confort room and it is worth the difference. The price of doubles is only a little more than a single, which is even better value. Maison Rouge doesn't offer a restuarant for meals other than breakfast - this is presumably because the wonderful yet inexpensive restaurants of Strasbourg are nearby to enjoy. And a stroll to those restaurants is a pleasure in itself. Next time at the Maison Rouge, I will probably stay in a Standard Room again if I am tout seul, but it will be a Confort if with my wife and/or children (aged 15, 12 & 9).

We went for the Christmas 2006 and this gorgeous city and terrific hotel far exceeded our high expectations. The hotel's location could not be better. Everything is one or two short blocks away, you are literally sitting in the bulls eye of this very walkable city! The room was tiny but immaculate with a great marble bath. Galleries Lafayette was next door, the tram stopped at the front door, the staff was wonderful, the breakfast was delightful and fabulous restaurants were right out the door. We will stay there again and again. Go for Christmas! It was an unbelievable holiday experience. Go to Google Images and look at Strasbourg Christmas pictures!

I was very disappointed and we canceled our 2nd night. They did not have their own parking and those they mentioned in their instructions were full. We told them where we ended up parking but they neglected to tell us that the parking locked up at 9PM so since we chose to go to dinner before collecting our luggage, we did not have luggage for the night. The noise on the street allowed me 45 minutes of sleep (they incorrectly informed us of the subway stop time - it was much later). I thought the visit was abysmal and will tell all I know not to use Maison Rouge.

Ideal location for a visit of Strasbourg. Only difficulty is the access by car to the hotel. It is only possible with a special permit (pedestrian area) and this not stated on the website. Parking in the public spaces is nearby.

The Maison Rouge is a lovely hotel located in central Strasbourg. I would put it at the upper end of the three star range. My only problem was that the wake up call didn't work...if you need a wake up call, try that out ahead of time. Otherwise my stay was delightful.
