Hotel Diana Dauphine - Strasbourg

Rooms are clean and nice, and the breakfast is good, though it should be included in the price. The reception staff, though, was unhelpful and in some cases unfriendly.

The hotel has an excellent location by a 5-10min walking distance to the old town. We knew parking would be hard - the hotel has only 3 small lots in the yard, otherwise you have to look for public metered lots outside, or go to one of the public park houses (none of them is nearby). We've had a 3-bed room, after renovation, furniture/equipment fine for a 3-star hotel, facing the inner yard - very quiet. What upset us really was: 1) the receptionist declared that the hotel had no non-smoking rooms, though we had requested one. As it sometimes happen, we had to stay in a stinking room, and their attitude was "who cares". 2) during the whole stay, we were able to get only a lukewarm water out of the taps / shower in the bathroom. When claimed in the evening, they said there was a technical failure reported, however that continued until our checkout late morning. That made the whole story less trustworthy. On the positive side, we've claimed a 10% discount from the quoted price that was accepted. Yet my wife said she would not return to that hotel ever again. Sorry we didn't like the "who cares" attitude towards the guests.

Much further than train station than expected....surprised breakfast was 11E extra per person per day....but otherwise a wonderful selection

A good value for the amount spent. The location is very good, in the heart of strasbourg, close to the old stock exchange. It's almost impossible to find a "legal" parking, and moreover once you get one, you will find your wheels clamped with no mercy as soon as the ticket expires. The hotel itself looked like it had better days in the past, but still it can offer a pleasent stay. Rooms are wide and tidy, but expect dump-smelling ambients and bad white lighting. Looks like it was constructed to be a great hotel, but since then nobody fighted against the effects of time. In the end, for the price offered and the location, i would stay again at diana dauphine.

We spend two happy days there - and enjoyed the welcoming correct service in this clean, nice and modern holtel- Some minor remarks: Prices for breakfast and parking were higher than announced by the internet. The simple comment from the hotel was, they have been changed meanwhile!

The Diana Dauphine is an excellent hotel for the money, if you can catch the reduced internet fares. I managed to book a room for something like 50% off the regular rate, well worth it. Our room was in immaculate condition and very well furnished, although (as in other hotels in Europe) the double bed was formed from two twin mattresses. The look and feel of the room was ultra modern (black, white and red) so not very romantic. It was extremely spacious with the bathroom and toilet totally separated from the bedroom in an entry foyer (but still inside the accommodation itself). The staff was extremely helpful, even recommending driving routes back to Paris. The garage is also a nice feature (for a small cost) but only accommodates small cars. Finally, while the hotel wasn't in the nicest area, it was a mere 5 minute stroll from the city center. Breakfast is not included.

Area is difficult to drive in and hotel was extremely hard to get to by car - one way streets and the garage entrance is across the tram tracks. The garage spots were extremely small and even though I had requested one, they did not have me down for one. Fortunately they had 1 spot left as street parking was extremely difficult.

Staff were very helpful room was very comfortable. Breakfast was satisfactory.
