Hotel Birger Jarl - Stockholm

My girlfriend and I were on a 3 night visit to Stockholm. This was our first time in this city and our first stay at the Hotel Birger Jarl. Our overall impression was very good and the hotel was 'as described' on the website. Our only complaint was that our 'double' bed was, in fact, 2 singles pushed together and these were covered with 2 single duvets. We decided not to ask for a change of room because we arrived late and had made ourselves comfortable but we requested, and received, a (small) double duvet. The breakfast buffet was fantastic with very wide selection of food on offer. The hotel's design is very contemporary and very tidy. In conclusion I would definately recommend this hotel.

A large hotel, located 20 mins walk from the heart of the city. Stunning breakfast (although can get very busy). We were offered a room upgrade for 300SEK per night to a designer room. Declined it. Our room was good enough, although a little 'snug'. Loved the touch of a fresh fruit basket and bottles of water in the room fridge (filled daily) at no extra cost. Free wifi was a great addition. Hotel is ideal for any client group. First class stay in a beautiful city (which is not expensive if you are sensible and selective).

it was a fine hotel, with love for detail and customer service the room was designed with swedish and asian concepts in mind, we received a fruit-bowl as welcome the staff was very friendly, the hotel very clean and frequented by many business travelers (which is always a good sign in my eyes)

By foot: 15 minutes to the city center, 5 minutes to the underground station and the nearest shops and restaurants. Excellent breakfast buffet, but you have to pay for a hot drink (except tea). 32'' LCD TV in room with CNN and BBC. Nice and clean room, not too small but I expected a little bit larger one.

Very nice hotel, too bad there were not many restaurants in the surroundings.Breakfast was excellent with a variety of food of all kind and fresh but curiously orange juice was not a fresh one and didn't taste good.And the sauna although available to the customers was only open from 18.00 to 22.00 which we discovered there : there was no information on the web page.

Great hotel, spacious rooms and friendly staff. Location is nice in quiet residential neighborhood with several good restaurants but far from most sights. If you don't mind walking about 20m mins to center is fine. There is a metro stop a block away. The room was dusty perhaps because of the installations of new Tvs-my room had still the "holes" where the old tv was without repair. Free mineral water, colas and cookies replaced everyday-and great fruit plate as welcoming.

Un hotel veramente molto buono. Purtroppo non è vicinissimo alle maggiori attrazioni di Stoccolma, almeno per raggiungerle a piedi, comunque è situato a 200 da una stazione della Tunnelbana, il personale e la struttura alberghiera sono di ottima qualità, per non parlare del prezzo: in Italia un albergo simile, costa almeno il doppio.... Sono stato veramente molto soddisfatto di questo soggiorno e spero un giorno di ritornarci.

Stockholm was the end of our European cruise from Rome. We arrived at the hotel at 10 am and they checked us in early and gave us a room. It was a very nice surprise. We had not expected to be able to get into our room until after 2:00 pm. The room was very clean with a very comfortable bed and large flat screen TV. The staff was very helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English. The free breakfast buffet was excellent with very a good variety of cold and hot food. Given the vary poor exchange rate of the US dollar to the Swedish Korne, food is more than twice cost as it is in the US. So it was very nice to have the free breakfast. If we vacation in Stockholm again, we will definitely stay in the Birger Jarl.

Location is very quiet, some restautants and such nearby. Metro is a short walk, but nice to walk the whole way to Gamla Stan weather permitting. Slight down is that most rooms are interior rooms looking into a central "courtyard"...not much to see.

Very satisfactory. Hotel provided everything required for a confortable stay, plus good breakfast, at a rate which compared very favourably with other hotels of similar calibre in other parts of the city. Location plays an important part in this, and Birger Jarl charged me less than half of what I paid at a similar hotel some 8-10 blocks away, which was located closer to the older part of town, a very small sacrifice to make in my view when on a budget.

Nice hotel, cosmopolitan, efficient and friendly. Breakfast was fabulous, a feast for the eyes and stomach. The hotel is situated on a fairly quiet street. Check out the doorway of the building across the street - an art deco electricity depot! Oh and this is a design hotel, with artworks particular to each room. About a 15 minute walk from the city centre - 20 mins to the old town.

The single rooms are quite small but the excellent location and the great breakfast buffet compensate the traveller
